]The Triple-A All-Star Game is one of the highlights of the baseball season, as the top players from the International and Pacific Coast Leagues engage in a one-night battle to establish their circuit's supremacy. This year's contest, which will take place July 12 at Toledo's Fifth Third Field, will have a whole new level of intrigue: For the first time ever, fans will have a say in who gets to play.

Fan voting for the Triple-A All-Star Game begins today, and will be conducted exclusively online. Ballots will be available on MiLB.com, as well as on the official websites of the International League, the Pacific Coast League and all 30 Triple-A teams.

Fans can select one player at each infield position, three outfielders, a designated hitter and four pitchers -- two starters and two relievers. That's a lot of choices, and there's a lot of competition.

The fan balloting, which will run through June 23, will account for one third of the overall total. The selections of the media (one-third) and each team's manager, coaches and general manager (one-third) will also be factored into the final tally.

FWIW, "Fifth Third" is a bank; hence the park name.

And do it quickly because (ducking)
as the title of Edgy's thread says, "Time and Tides wait for no man".

Edit: throwin' some props Edgy's way.

gotta love the recommended "hot list" for AAA all-star voting...one's a 31 year old & one's a 26 year old, both failed in the majors...it's why I don't take AAA to seriously and almost wish that they'd skip prospects straight from AA to the majors...too many minor league "lifers" at AAA, the Offerman's, the Gerald Williams', the Fernando Tatis': guys that aren't prospects and aren't good enough to stay on a major league roster...these guys are necessary & the more power to them, I wouldn't have minded spending 10 years in the minors either (sure better than working for a living), but to vote these guys into a minor league all-star game?
