That's a shitty lineup.
Nymr83 Jun 07 2006 09:35 PM |
uuugly.

Carlos: sitting out on the same day that reyes and Floyd are hurting because???
KC Jun 07 2006 09:39 PM |
Can't always field the nine o'choice. Good teams win with B and C players.
Frayed Knot Jun 07 2006 09:49 PM |
Wants to give Delgado a break. Lefty going tonight while the upcoming Snakes have no southpaws on their staff.
Nymr83 Jun 07 2006 09:55 PM |
Good teams, or rather smart managers, don't give their top hitters an offday when their other top hitters are day-to-day, when reyes/floyd are back in the lineup THEN you give an offday to delgado.
KC Jun 07 2006 09:58 PM |
Delgado can use a day off. When I become a baseball guy I'll start calling

Gwreck Jun 07 2006 10:08 PM |
Probably also worthy of noting that it's not as if Carlos D. has been, you know, hitting much.
Gwreck Jun 07 2006 10:14 PM |
Anyone else using Gameday Audio tonight? (And is it working, if so?)
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:16 PM |
Sadly, the same could be said of most of the team.
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:17 PM |
Carlos: "Looks like a line drive in the box score."
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:18 PM |
Question: Who goes the other way better than Young David?
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:20 PM |
Wow. No throw on the double steal. Carlos can run. Too bad Delgado hits between them, they could do that all year. (SC = 85)

Though it was two weak hits...Julio's was a broken bat seeing-eye single up the middle.
GYC Jun 07 2006 10:21 PM |
Props to Willie calling the double steal on an 0-1 count with the injured Beltran stealing 3rd, and then having Franco get a 2-RBI single. Major props.
Edgy DC Jun 07 2006 10:21 PM |
Answer: not many.
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:22 PM |
True....if he called it. I seriously doubt that was called from the dugout.
GYC Jun 07 2006 10:22 PM |
Valentin with an RBI double and to third on throw - IS THIS THE METS?!

Very close play at the plate. Bang-bang.
Edgy DC Jun 07 2006 10:23 PM |
Lookit that old man run.
GYC Jun 07 2006 10:23 PM |
Milledge with an RBI triple. No, this is not the Mets.
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:24 PM |
I take full credit for the (unintended) reverse jinx.
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:25 PM |
Milledge's triple was also very close....I'm all for hustle, but one of those old schoool rules that I really believe in is "Never make the last out at third."

First career trip, right?
Yancy Street Gang Jun 07 2006 10:26 PM |
I had decided that I was just going to watch the top of the first inning before going to bed, and I got to see the Mets score four runs.
GYC Jun 07 2006 10:29 PM |
Please don't tell me this is going to be like last night. Poor pitching on both sides = boring, stressful AL-ish baseball.
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:30 PM |
Nomar's OCD routine at the plate doesn't really bother me.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 07 2006 10:30 PM |
Sure Tom - take the mound with a 4-0 lead and immediately cough up a homer.
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:31 PM |
You know...with Gagne back...the Dodgers are pretty darn good team. I used to hate them in the days of Mike Scioscia.
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:32 PM |
Milledge, Beltran, Chavez. Too bad we're not playing at a field like the Polo Grounds. That is one speedy motherjumping outfield.
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:33 PM |
Excellent turn by Valentin.
GYC Jun 07 2006 10:37 PM |
If Perez gets DFA'd after the game, he'd deserve it.
Gwreck Jun 07 2006 10:38 PM |
Wow, looks like we rediscovered the offense with the B-team here. Too bad f-ing MLB.com doesn't have the audio working, it'd sure be nice to actually hear this game. </grumble>
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 10:40 PM |
They turned two on right, but that was a lazy-ass throw to start it. David almost beat it.
GYC Jun 07 2006 10:53 PM |
Son of a bitch.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 07 2006 10:53 PM |
Fuckshit! Furball ties the game with his second homer of the game!
HahnSolo Jun 07 2006 10:53 PM |
OK, someone check Furcal's bat...or his urine sample.

As gameday audio returns, on WFAN Tom and Eddie C. have Robin Ventura, I think (?) in the booth with them. Didn't hear him introduced but it sounds like him.
Edgy DC Jun 07 2006 10:59 PM |
Well, I excused myself with a 4-1 lead. What do you folks have to say for yourselves?
ScarletKnight41 Jun 07 2006 11:05 PM |
Why the heck did you leave? See what you did?
Edgy DC Jun 07 2006 11:06 PM |

I don't know how he turned on that one.

Nymr83 Jun 07 2006 11:28 PM |
Cruz homers... Glavine has got nothing tonight, its bullpen time.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 07 2006 11:29 PM |
Holy Hell Tom - STOP giving up gopher balls!
Edgy DC Jun 07 2006 11:29 PM |
Mental note: give Glavine his full rest.

Gagne won't pitch for a few days LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles Dodgers closer Eric Gagne will be shut down for a few days because of stiffness in his surgically repaired pitching elbow. The 30-year-old right-hander earned his first save in nearly a year Tuesday night by striking out two in a perfect ninth inning in an 8-5 victory over the New York Mets, but said afterward he wasn't 100 percent. __________________________________________________________ And his stuff looked sick last night. Glad if this is still close in the 9th we dont have to see him. When I heard the mets had 5 runs in the first two innings I figured that would be all Glavine would need. Baseball,---this is a wacky game.
Edgy DC Jun 07 2006 11:47 PM |
Heck yeah I'm surprised to see Glavine hit here.
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 11:50 PM |
LaSorda was up in the booth. I didn't know that he wouldn't let Gibson get in the on-deck circle, because with a decoy in the on-deck circle he figured the A's would pitch around Mike Davis who was up before him.
Nymr83 Jun 07 2006 11:54 PM |
Reyes out, Floyd out. the bench tonight is 3 guys....might as well let glavine hit this early
Elster88 Jun 07 2006 11:57 PM |
As usual, "Let's Go Mets" chants are audible.

Edgy DC Jun 07 2006 11:59 PM |
Glavine out of gas with 93 pitches.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:01 AM |
Thats all for Glavine after walking Cruz.
Elster88 Jun 08 2006 12:02 AM |
I woulda thunk that seven Met runs in a Glavine start = rest day for the bullpen.
Gwreck Jun 08 2006 12:10 AM |
Yeah, but not the end of the world. Wagner, Heilman and Sanchez are all fairly rested, all having had the last 2 days off.

Edgy DC Jun 08 2006 12:13 AM |
Vin Scully waxing race humor.

Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:14 AM |

Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:18 AM |
.....I would imagine they are gonna have to keep that rook around when Nady gets back.
Edgy DC Jun 08 2006 12:20 AM |
Scully is still thinking Julio is a Met.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:23 AM |
...senile. How old is he anyway? Eightyhundred?
Nymr83 Jun 08 2006 12:23 AM |
i don't think milledge stays up if everyone is healthy in the outfield, they want him getting at bats every day and thats probably the right hting.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:24 AM |
Heilman needs a good outing here.
Methead Jun 08 2006 12:28 AM |
DP saves Heilman's neck.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:31 AM |
Lmao You aint kiddin Methead. Kaz will pinch hit for Heilman.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:38 AM |
Sanchez, who has looked rather human lately, will take the mound.
Edgy DC Jun 08 2006 12:39 AM |
Lastings doing it both ways.
Gwreck Jun 08 2006 12:39 AM |
Gonna be tough to send him down.
Methead Jun 08 2006 12:39 AM |
Whoa, look at the big arm on Lastings, erasing the leadoff double by Nomar.
Frayed Knot Jun 08 2006 12:40 AM |
Nice tag by Valentin too.
Gwreck Jun 08 2006 12:42 AM |
Strange question: why Lastings in left? Figured they'd keep him in right even with Floyd out.
Frayed Knot Jun 08 2006 12:44 AM |
Willie says that he thinks Endy's arm is a tick better.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:45 AM |
Boy, the Milledge homer looks even bigger now, as the Dodgers score again.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:47 AM |
Willie says alot of things. :\
Edgy DC Jun 08 2006 12:47 AM |
Olmedo is one big tomato.
Frayed Knot Jun 08 2006 12:50 AM |
Saenz, Saenz, everywhere there's Saenz
Edgy DC Jun 08 2006 12:53 AM |
He is everywhere.
Gwreck Jun 08 2006 12:56 AM |
Sandman time.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:56 AM |
Wright gets gunned down tryin to steal 2nd.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 12:57 AM |
I wont start threatening Wags until he lets a man reach.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 01:00 AM |
Two quick outs for Billy, and now he has to face that slugger Furcal.
Gwreck Jun 08 2006 01:00 AM |
Put it in the books!
Edgy DC Jun 08 2006 01:01 AM |
Yancy will take care of the books tomorrow.
Zvon Jun 08 2006 01:02 AM |
YEAAAAAHESSSSSSSSSSSSS.

I'm agreeing with Bozo.

Johnny Dickshot Jun 08 2006 10:34 AM |
I dunno if anyone said it yet but that a big fat hairy win.
metirish Jun 08 2006 10:38 AM |
The Mets "battled" for this win, a team of battlers you might say.

ap- were you at all three games? Games at Dodger Stadium are fun. Dodger Dogs and Kooler Koos (sp?), yum-yum-yum. That picture ttaken from where your seats are?
I would've felt the same way except I dozed off after Milledge's blast so I at least had the 3 run cushion to take me to dreamland.
Elster88 Jun 08 2006 11:42 AM |
I have to have a Dodger Dog before I die. Is there anything special about them besides the name and history?
soupcan Jun 08 2006 11:48 AM |
Its been so long since I've had one - 1989 or 90 I think - I can't remember what they taste like just that they are good ballpark dogs.
holychicken Jun 08 2006 11:50 AM |
I had one. . . nothing special, IMO, other than the name. Kind of like a "Fenway Frank."
ScarletKnight41 Jun 08 2006 12:00 PM |
I had one in 1993. It was fine, but no better than a Nathan's frank.

yep. and yes, a dodger dog is nothing but a regular hot dog.

god bless Craigslist
Mandy Moore was there Tuesday (I tried to start a "Aquaman" chant - didnt work) Ray Ramano was there Wednesday. He was booed. He wore no Mets gear but they knew. In LA you'll see more celebs at the supermarket than anywhere else.
