Sayonara, Kaz

Kaz Matsui’s undistinguished three-year tenure will the Mets is over.

The Mets have reached a deal with the Rockies to send Matsui to Colorado for Eli Marrero, pending approval from the commissioner’s office, a source said.

The Mets will still be responsible for the remainder of the $8 million owed to Matsui this year, while Colorado will cover Marrero’s significantly lesser salary ($750,000). Marrero, a 32-year-old outfielder, was hitting .217 with four homers and 10 RBI in 60 at-bats with the Rockies this season.

Nevermind, didn't realize the other thread with the weird name was about it. Didn't even know it was baseball related. My bad.

I'm sorry things didn't work out for Kaz in NY, I was rooting for him.

In between. Basically they rid themselves of a guy who didn't pan out and who the fans hated. Since we're still paying and only getting Marrero as a player, it really won't affect the team, IMHO.

Based on how the Mets approach this, specifically Willie, we can now use Castro more as a PH, assuming they kind of look over his recent slump and look at last year, because Marrero started to catch games again this year (5 games, 14 innings).

I'm sorry it didn't work out for Kaz, but it makes sense to get something for him before his contract runs out. He was not likely to be the starter, and is of limited use as a reserve, so it makes sense to give someone more versitile his place on the bench.

I didn't hate Kaz. Right now they need cannon fodder in the outfield.

You wont have Kaz Matsui to kick around anymore...

And that was one of my favorite pastimes.

That flailing lefty swing-slash...classic.

Kaz...yes we knew Ya and hes laughing all the way to the bank..

I don't know why, but I always liked Kaz and felt sorry for him at times. For the best interest of all involved, it was time for Kaz to move on.

I don't really see much need for Marrero, but at this point, the Mets weren't going to get much in return for Matsui.

Eli is a cancer survivor: http://media.cnnsi.com/features/1998/weekly/980817/bb0817/e.html

Nipped it early, it seems.

I couldn't let this thread go without adding:

Eli's comin'. Eli's comin' (Eli's a-comin').
Well, you better hide your heart, your loving heart.
Eli's a-comin' and the cards say a broken heart, a broken heart.

Eli's comin', hide your heart, girl, Eli's comin', hide your heart, girl.
Girl, Eli's a-comin', you better hide, girl, Eli's a-comin', you better hide.
Girl, Eli's a-comin', you better hide, girl, Eli's comin', hide your heart, girl.
You better, better hide your heart, Eli's comin', better walk.
Walk but you'll never get away, no, you'll never get away from the burning a-heartache.
I walked to Apollo by the bay, everywhere I go though,
Eli's a-comin' (she walked but she never got away).
Eli's a-comin' (she walked but she never got away).
Eli's a-comin' and he's comin' to get ya (she walked but, she walked but)
Get down on your knees (she walked but she never got away), Eli's comin',

(Hide it, hide it, hide it) Girl, Eli's a-comin', you better hide, girl, Eli's a-comin', you better hide. Girl, Eli's a-comin', you better hide, girl, Eli's comin', hide your heart, girl (hide it).

No, no, no, no Lord, I said no, no, no, no, no, no (hide it).
She can (hide it) hide it, (hide it). You better (hide it). Somebody (hide it). You got to (hide it).
