Freddie beats Kurt 10-0. Nirvana was OK, but nowhere up to Queen's level. It didn't help that their top song went against one of the all-time classics.

"Come As You Are" vs. "Don't Stop Me Now" - Queen "Lithium" vs. "Another One Bites the Dust" - Queen "In Bloom" vs. "Under Pressure" - Queen "The Man Who Sold the World" vs. "You're My Best Friend" - Nirvana "Been A Son" vs. "Somebody to Love" - Queen "All Apologies" vs. "Fat Bottomed Girls" - Nirvana. This could go either way, but I really, really love the MTV Unplugged version of All Apologies. "Rape Me" vs. "Killer Queen" - Nirvana. Ooh, scandalous lyrics. Again, could go either way. Size of the catalog favors Queen, as does the "happy to think about it" factor. As it is, you've got a matchup of two bands led by dead guys --- one who took life deathly seriously and one who took it deathly unseriously. Quite the contrast.

One thing I woulda hoped the BLC would foster is a little respect and admiration for bands & songs ye didn't previously like, particularly those who've managed to hang in the top 10 for months despite a barrage of hard shots from name-brand rocknrollers. Yet we still get too much attention on Freddy's outfits and not enough on Brian May's genius.
