Hey Lenny, I like your picture your dad posted, this looks like a good contest

I shall use the same lineup to have defeated the last Lenny Harris-sponsored challenger, Pink Floyd:

Bohemian Rhapsody
Don't Stop Me Now
Another One Bites the Dust
Under Pressure
You're My Best Friend
Somebody to Love
Fat Bottomed Girls
Killer Queen
Keep Yourself Alive
We Will Rock You/We are the Champions

Freddie beats Kurt 10-0. Nirvana was OK, but nowhere up to Queen's level. It didn't help that their top song went against one of the all-time classics.

Interesting Fact: Spencer Eldon (the baby on the Nevermind cover) also appears on the cover of The Dragon Experience, the third solo album by Evin Key (Skinny Puppy). The kid also reshot the cover (with pants on) for a Rolling Stone story about the 10-year anniversary of Nevermind in 2001.
Interesting Fact: Freddie Mercury was born to Indian-Parsi parents. The Parsi are an ethnic group in India (mainly Mumbai) and other parts of the diaspora who follow the monotheistic religion of Zoroastrianism.

"Teen Spirit" wins in a squeaker over "Bohemian Rhapsody", and "We will Rock you/Champions" is so annoying that "Negative Creep" wins by default.

Queen wins the rest, 8-2

That's what music needs. More drowning babies depicted on album covers.

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" vs. "Bohemian Rhapsody" - Wow. Queen. I'll take bombast over simplicity, although Weird Al's parody of SMTS is better than Bohemian Polka.
"Come As You Are" vs. "Don't Stop Me Now" - Queen
"Lithium" vs. "Another One Bites the Dust" - Queen
"In Bloom" vs. "Under Pressure" - Queen
"The Man Who Sold the World" vs. "You're My Best Friend" - Nirvana
"Been A Son" vs. "Somebody to Love" - Queen
"All Apologies" vs. "Fat Bottomed Girls" - Nirvana. This could go either way, but I really, really love the MTV Unplugged version of All Apologies.
"Rape Me" vs. "Killer Queen" - Nirvana. Ooh, scandalous lyrics. Again, could go either way.
"Polly" vs. "Keep Yourself Alive" - Queen. A bleh matchup.
"Negative Creep" vs. "We Will Rock You/We are the Champions" - Queen

All ten of these could have gone either way in my book. That said; Queen 7, Nirvana 3.

Hey... can Weird Al enter this contest? He's had the same band for 25 years.

Queen retains its crown, defeating Nirvana 55.5-44.5.

I totally would have voted Nirvana over Queen.

Even if you had gone 10-0, Queen still woulda won. I don't get it either.

Edgy DC

Size of the catalog favors Queen, as does the "happy to think about it" factor.

As it is, you've got a matchup of two bands led by dead guys --- one who took life deathly seriously and one who took it deathly unseriously. Quite the contrast.

One who was talented and cared about making music and one who sucked BHMC and cared about stretching his spandex tighter.

These comparisons are fun.

Fred was a lot of things. Untalented is harsh.

He might have actually literally sucked BHMC, however.

Welcome back.

One thing I woulda hoped the BLC would foster is a little respect and admiration for bands & songs ye didn't previously like, particularly those who've managed to hang in the top 10 for months despite a barrage of hard shots from name-brand rocknrollers.

Yet we still get too much attention on Freddy's outfits and not enough on Brian May's genius.
