These west coast swings are brutal, but it's always nice to wake up to a Mets victory. The Mets broke at the heavy artillery in the first inning with a pair of home runs. Jose Reyes muscled up and hit a lead off home run to right field to open the game. Following a one out single by Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado deposited a Brett Tomko offering into the right field stands for a quick 3 run lead.

From there the Mets rode the pitching arm of Alay Soler, who surrendered a lone run to the Dodgers through 7 innings of work. Pedro Feliciano and Chad Bradford combined to hold the Dodgers scoreless the remainder of the way, though Feliciano did work into a mini-jam in the eighth.

Since the Dodgers ran out on Brooklyn, we felt it only proper that we drink a beer made in Brooklyn after the Mets beat their disloyal asses. We've been saving back a case of Black Chocolate Stout from the Brooklyn Brewery for this day.

He's starting to alay* our fears that he might be a bust.
