As of today, yes. As of yesterday, no. |
To be fair, I've seen plenty of boards, even wrestling boards (where sports and other forms of entertainment are discussed), where peeps tend to post primarily in folders other than the main topic of said board, doesn't bother me if someone spends most of their time here in NBF, or even in the Film Review forum, with an every couple of month or so post up in the main baseball forum

It's a forum for discussion of non-baseball stuff.

And what is the difference between a discussion and a personal blog?
It's a discussion when more than one person is talking. Otherwise it's a blog.
Again, at this point I'm only pressing this matter as a hypothetical.

In an effort to get more wrestling talk on the NBF, I'll offer this as a "inbetween" events for PiazzaFan to talk about:
-Whats your favorite era:
Mine would be the Monday Night Wars, you finally had the WWF and WCW getting rid of the schackles of being considered entertainment for pre-teens, while still marketing for the younger set with action figures and what not, their target demo finally zeroed in on the late-teen to early-20 department that is generally considered the true wrestling fan base. Would you show classic ECW or Smokey Mountain Wrestling shows to pre-teens?
Thats also when the lines really started being blurred, the WWF at this point admitted that A) matches were predetermined, somewhat and B) Vincent K. McMahon was indeed the man behind the curtain (on the programs his character just a broadcaster, in the Attitude era he made his real life personae and job into the character)
The whole wrestling scene lost alot when ECW went under and WCW was bought by WWF. No real competition, and the stench of the XFL really soured Vince into thinking that a "New" WCW would be a successfull venture. I'm not sure if ECW will turn out the way Vince hoped WCW would, it's clearly on a smaller scale, and in 2001 the WWF had much, much more mainstream expourse than it does now.
Also Austin got old, and The Rock went to be a full time actor, you don't lose two big guys like that and expect the causal fan to still watch every week, especially when the actual content of the shows gets more and more pathetic with each passing week (necrophelia angle, wrestleers being pushed to the top for no real good reason, ect)

PF411 has always been considerate enough to keep all of his updates within the same thread so not to clutter up the entire board with repetitive threads, so I have no problem with him posting the results as he has. I don't know, maybe others enjoy them. So I think he should continue to post the wrestling reults if it makes him happy and I hope to see his input in the baseball threads. |
I skip the wrestling posts and just read the reaction. It consistently makes me laugh out loud.

Rob Van Dam vs. Edge WWE Championship Match
You see these arms, Rob Van Dam? They're for two things --- holding the ladies and crushing the likes of you! You've been hiding for too long! Run, Rob Van Dam, but you can't hide. Not tonight, Van Dam! Tonight I'm coming baby! Tonight you will be subject to the Sweet Holy Thunder of Edge!
Pieces of you will be everywhere, Rob Van Dam! I just envy the people in the ringside seats, baby. Hell, I envy the folks in the back too. They'll tell their children, and they'll tell their children --- they were there, baby! They were there the night the DAM BROKE, BABY! BROKE BEFORE THE POWER OF EDGE!
It's not too late, baby! You can still run home to Momma!

The WWF/WCW didn't really get rid of any such shackles. What happened was all of those pre-teens and teens reached adulthood and continued watching. I was not one of them, so much, but a few of my buddies were for a short while. Pro wrestling sucks now.

After he runs into Dusty Rhodes and he talks about buying his new DVD abd offers it to the strippers. Then he runs into a delivery man, Vince asks what it is and the man is delivering his imported p***s enlarger. Vince goes crazy and goes out to the ring. Match #1: Torrie Wilson and Maria vs. Candice Michelle and Mickie James Bra and Panties Tag Team Match
Mickie James was tagged in after Candice got down to her Bra. Then Mickie James single-handedly took out the entire team, stripping Torrie and Maria down to their Bra and Panties.
Winners: MICKIE JAMES AND CANDICE MICHELLE
After the Match, Mickie James turned on Candice Michelle and stripped her shorts off. Mickie then went to the announce table and took JR's hat. She paraded around with it and then took it.
Match #2 Viscera vs. Charlie Haas Singles Match
Viscera tried to get Charlie to apologize for the accident. Chairle then said that they went to dinner and settled it over "Pillow Talk". Lillian screamed and Viscera then unleashed his fury. He dominated the entire match until the Spirit Squad came out and disqualified both men. They said that D-X would never survive them and that they should come to the ring right now. D-X appeared in the titantron and said they weren't coming down. But they tiold Spirit Squad to "Look Up" and they got covered with green paint. D-X laughed as Spirit Squad got furious.
Winner: NO CONTEST (Double DQ)
-->Segment<-- The Coach runs into Paul Heyman and Heyman says he's got a bus load of ECW superstars ready to tear the place up. But Heyman strikes a deal. Heyman says that he wants a match tonight with John Cena taking on ECW's Balls Mahoney and that on Tuesday night, there would be an interpromotional dream tag team match where Randy Orton and Edge from RAW take on ECW's Kurt Angle and ECW's World Champion, Rob Van Dam.
Match #3: John Cena vs. Balls Mahoney Interpromotional Singles Match
Cena dominated the beginning of the match with Balls taking control a little later. Cena locked in a quick STFU and Balls tapped. Then Sabu came to the ring and attacked Cena with a chair. He then put Cena on the announce table. He then did a flying leg drop from the top rope and onto Cena. Noth men were hurt with Cena busted open above his eye.
Winner: JOHN CENA
Match #4 Carlito vs. Johnny Nitro and Shelton Benjamin Two on One Handicap Match
Carlito announced that he had been put in a handicap match because he was laughing at the Spirit Squad. Carlito put up a tough fight. Shelton and Nitro attacked each other in the ring. Nitro took out Shelton with a clothesline over the top rope. Carlito then tried a roll up, but Nitro countered and held Carlito's tights for the win. Afterwards, Shelton attacked Carlito, but he hit a backcracker on Shelton, this showing that both men can out wrestle Shelton and his title is at stake.
Winners: JOHNNY NITRO AND SHELTON BENJAMIN
-->Segment<-- The camera shows that D-X trashed Vince's office. The Coach was mad as hell and D-X walked in. They changed the pictures, from the Shawn entering the Kiss My Ass club to the time Shane's head got shoved up Vince's ass. Then the picture of the Spirit Squad mugging Shawn Michaels to Triple H Pedigreeing Vince with his bare ass showing. Then the picture of Vince's magazine cover. All the time HBK was hilarious screaming "IT IS!!!". They then sat down and watched the tv.
-->Segment<-- D-X annoyed Coach during this segment about the Vengeance PPV. D-X picked up Coach and tossed him through a wall head first. They then pantsed him. D-X made fun of his thong and spraypanted D-X on his ass. A video clip then showed a promo for The Highlanders.
Main Event: Ric Flair vs. Edge Singles Match

-->D-X Reunion Segment<-- D-X announced they were back. Shawn and Triple H made fun of the McMahon and talked about their Vengeance match against the Spirit Squad. The Spirit Squad midgets came out and danced around. Then HHH said the real cheerleaders were coming out and HBK took out eh blindfold. Then a group of female cheerleaders came out and danced. They then stripped their top off, revealing a black Bra with D-X written on it. The crowd went wild. The the real Spirit Squad with his anti-D-X group and I was amazed that Rob Conway of all people was anti-D-X. WTF! D-X took out two Spirit Squad guys and told the rest of the squad to leave. The 5 midgets then mooned the Spirit Squad with Suck It written on their asses. This was a shoe in for one of the funniest episodes of RAW ever.

1) "He then runs into an alien that starts to follow him until Vince growls at him." HUH?!?!
2) A "bra and panties tag team match"? I wonder what demographic they're targeting.
3) There's a guy named "Balls Mahoney"? Bizarre. I think I'm going to start calling someone "Balls," see if it catches on.

ECW on SciFi Report 6/20 Live from the Pepsi Center in Albany, New York
Intro Segment: The show opened up with a tarot lady using her cards. She used her cards, obviously set up, to tell about RAW and tonights ECW. We then go to the title song and we get to our first match.
Match #1: Singles Match Sabu vs. Tony Mamaluke (w/Trinity)
This was a very good match from the starts. Sabue makes good use of the chair and does a lot of exciting High Flying moves. He even puts Tony through a table, and then countered with chairs and did a Triple Jump Plancha, so cool. He picks up the win after locking in the Camel Clutch.
Winner: SABU
-Segment- After the commercial, the Big Show makes his entrance and looks mad and ready to speak his mind until Tommy Dreamer comes out and looks angry as well. He made comments about last week being tossed through a table and made comments that if he wanted to make a name in ECW he would have to go through him. Fighting ensued and the Big Show took immediate control. The Big Show spanked Tommy Dreamer like a Four Year Old in KMART before leaving a wounded Dreamer pissed and ready for more.
Match #2: Singles Match Macho Libre vs. The Sandman
Macho Libre came out and started saying everything twice. He was very annoying and made fun of ECW for being what they are and challenged anyone from ECW for a fight. Once again, The Sandman comes down to the ring to take on this retarded character and cans the hell out of him and hits the White Russian Leg Sweep for a quick win. Why does Sandman get all the retards?
Winner: The Sandman
-Segment- Cena walks in on the ECW guys having a chat about beating the crap out of him in the parking lot. Cena then comes in and challenges ECW as a whole. He wants Sabu and himself to have an Extreme Rules Lumberjack Match, with the Lumberjacks being the ECW roster. To me, Cena is signing his own deathwish
-Kelly's Strip Segment Only two words could describe this, VERY HOT!. Unfortunately, I missed the end because my parents walked in. So if you can tell me that would be cool but by the time your reading this I probably saw the internet video.
-->Promo for Vengeance<--
-->Promo for the return of Andrew "Test" Martin<--
Main Event: Interpromotional Tag Team Match (ECW vs. RAW) Edge and Randy Orton vs. Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle
Edge made comments about how ECW sucks. Angle and Edge start the match. Angle takes quick control over Edge delivering good moves. RVD is also impressive and does a lot of exciting moves. Edge takes control after being tagged in by Orton. -Show goes to commercial- Orton is tagged and keeps control. RVD takes a very hard fall to the outside. A very back and forth match. Angle and Orton get tagged and they fight. Angle takes control over team until Lita comes in and Edge capatalizes. RVD takes control after being tagged in. This was a very good match and a definite match of the year candidate. RVD nails a 5 Star Frog Splash for the win.
Winners: Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle (ECW)
Biggest Heel: Bog Show
Best Superstar of Show: Rob Van Dam
ASSHOLE AWARD John Cena
Worst Performer Edge
