The Mets flexed some muscle and took advantage of several Philadelphia miscues to earn their sixth straight victory. Still with all of the home runs and Phillies errors, it was a sparkling defensive play at third base by David Wright to start a ninth inning double play that helped to secure the game.

On a night where Tom Glavine just didn't have it, the team picked him up with solid relief pitching and an offensive show of force. There were so many contributors to this victory that it's difficult to trim the list down. This was truly a team victory.

Today we celebrate! To the victor goes the spoils so it's Dock Street Philadelphia Amber Beer for everyone.

Wright's play did save the end of the game, IMO. But Delgado is hard to overlook.

I went with Delgado, but this was a really tough pick.

I went with Reyes. Five times on base in 6 plate appearances is all that one could ever ask of their leadoff man. The big boys can't drive the runners in if they aren't getting on ahead of them.

Bradford doesn't even get a nomination?

Can I do a write-in for him? If so, consider that my vote.

Write-in = player name in bold.

A minor disagreement here, for me the intentionality(?) of the two of the walks make his day slightly less impressive.

holychicken, Bradford thanks you for your support. This was a tough game to trim down the list of nominees for.

Bradford did a great job at a crucial juncture in the game and is most deserving of a nomination. Please remember, I seldom have the benefit of actually watching the Mets games. I generally derive my take on the game from a combination of information from box scores, IGT's, gameday, and ESPN highlights. Unfortunately, I sometimes will overlook the critical contributions of a player from time to time. That is why I welcome and encourage discussion and write ins when warranted in these threads.

This was part of a sweep of our nearest pursuer in their park. Cast your vote in support of the team's fine play.
