Not very sporting to challenge someone just before their own turn. But TMBG weren't going anywhere, anyway. So I'll just do the dumb things I gotta do...
|
Edgy DC Jun 28 2006 09:25 AM |
You're right. I didn't think of that. I'll switch.
|
sharpie Jun 28 2006 09:29 AM |
You shouldn't switch. That way you could never challenge Willets Points' bands and I couldn't challenge Dickshot's etc. (I've challenged his many times but not last time).

Man, those videos mostly detract, don't they?

Sorry, I'll fix it this evening. Meantime, you can watch the video, or sing these words to yourself: It's too late now; it's twenty past two I spent the night just watchin' you I watched you dance I watched you move Can't breath and still I watched you move away Now I think quite a lot as i stare at my shoes About all these things that I put myself through Now there's nothing to say And there's nothing to do You're just too nice to talk to Too nice to talk to You're too nice to talk to You're too nice to talk to The Radcliffs wouldn't come after you I glance but you just stared me through Felt such a fool I felt you knew But you might tell me to go away Emotions so guarded My heart is retarded You're just too nice to talk to Too nice to talk to You're too nice to talk to You're too nice to talk to This evening hasn't gone like i planned Should I take the situation in hand? Can't go on but I Can't seem to dance You chain my feet; I stamp and stamp and stamp Because nothing i do ever seems to be right The same dance of mine every saturday night Out the window you might say I'm out of of my mind You're just too nice to talk to Too nice to talk to You're too nice to talk to You're too nice to talk to Too nice!

Edgy DC Jun 28 2006 12:21 PM |
Not nice enough!
|
seawolf17 Jun 28 2006 12:23 PM |
It's not going to matter.
|
Edgy DC Jun 28 2006 12:24 PM |
Oh, well. I'll save my vote for later.
|
Johnny Dickshot Jun 28 2006 12:26 PM |
I was a big fan of the English Beat for a couple of years there but their breakup and subsequent shark-jump/future projects (General Public – terrible name, boring music) really threw me off. Not sure even if their good stuff aged so well, but it was fun back when.

Wow, knocked out by wolfchld.

Got a nice voicemail from John Flansburgh's mother tonight. I should let her know I'm championing her son's band.
|
Edgy DC Jun 28 2006 11:25 PM |
Yup. Get him to vote.
|
Edgy DC Jun 29 2006 07:05 AM |
But not her.

Who is the guy in the porkpie hat who doesn't seem to sing or play an instrument (well he does have a tambourine in "Save It for Later") but does a funny dance?
|
Johnny Dickshot Jun 29 2006 10:06 AM |
Porkpie is Ranking Roger, the other vocalist.

The Beat have (a) the best saxaphone player in the BLC (sorry Clarence), and (b) seemingly the most superfluous member in Ranking Roger. Roger would do the harmonies and toast (an echo-heavy Jamaican vocal style that's half-rapped half-sung, often in the Afro-English creole vernacular) on the bridges and outros. But he had the featured vocals on some songs --- "Stand Down Margaret," I think, which isn't featured here because I couldn't get it to upload.
|
Willets Point Jun 29 2006 10:23 AM |
He should team up with Bez from the Happy Mondays.
|
Edgy DC Jun 29 2006 10:29 AM |
Bez definitely aces him in superfluousness.
|

Kinda like the mysterious old guy who sat in the rocking chair, center stage, with Arrested Development.
|
Edgy DC Jun 29 2006 10:31 AM |
Flava Flav is a good rap-world example.

"Mirror in the Bathroom" vs. "Put Your Hand Inside the Puppet Head" -TIE
I disagree. General Public was more than serviceable and 'All The Rage' had at least 3 very good tunes.

48 hours are up, how long are you going to save that vote? TMBG leads 33-27 but it doesn't feel like a fair win w/ Edgy procrastinating.
