Certainly some schadenfreude involved in seeing the ball go under Cairo's glove. Too bad. :)

The Mets need to go all Red Sox on their Yankee asses.

Zvon
Jun 30 2006 07:30 PM

Cliffy!
Yay!
Howd we make room for him?

Giambi homers?!?

Not a good way to start.

Zvon
Jun 30 2006 07:47 PM

Man--I can really bring down a room sometimes, huh?

All for a cheap chuckle.

Its 1-0 Skanks thru 2 and a half.
Im about to send out the Mets trainer to check the team for a pulse.

Wright misses a popup in a torrential downpour. I'm listening to announcers telling me how Jeter would've had it.

Wright catches flies barehanded, you arrogant creep.

Rain Delay Theater.

Time to do some more homework.

Frayed Knot

Getting ready to resume.
Looks like Mussina will NOT return.
Looks like El Ducky will - at least to finish off this inning.

Edgy DC
Jun 30 2006 09:18 PM

I think they should make Bernie Williams stand out there on first the whole time.

Rain Delay Theater Presents...

... Carol Burnett and Company Bum-Rush Match Game.

(anti-climactic but fun)

Edgy DC

The Yanks are pulling Mussina, and the Yankee booth is insinuating that he was unbeatable tonight.

Zvon
Jun 30 2006 09:26 PM

Crap-that didnt take long.
OldMan Williams stole second and that young man Phillips drove him in with a single.
2-0 Skanks.

They still have the NO HITTER going.

A NO HITTER.

Picked off.

It's sad that the team has now reached the point that we view one hit, a single no less, as a rally.

This team needs to break out the whoopin' sticks and kick some ass.

He caught a pop in fair ground by the foul line.

And forgot to dive into the stands.

In Todd we trust for a rally:

]We've been waiting so long,
We've been waiting for the sun to rise and shine
Shining still to give us the will

Can you hear me, the sound of my voice?
I am here to tell you i have made my choice
I've been listening to what's been going down
There's just too much talk and gossip going 'round
You may think that i'm a fool, but i know the answer
Words become a tool, anyone can use them
Take the golden rule, as the best example
Eyes that have seen will know what i mean

The time has come to take the bull by the horns
We've been so downhearted, we've been so forlorn
We get weak and we want to give in
But we still need each other if we want to win

(Hold that line, baby hold that line
Get up boys and hit 'em one more time
We may be losing now but we can't stop trying
So hold that line, baby hold that line)

If you don't know what to do about a world of trouble
You can pull it through if you need to and if
You believe it's true, it will surely happen

Shining still, to give us the will
Bright as the day, to show us the way

Somehow, someday,
We need just one victory and we're on our way
Prayin' for it all day and fightin' for it all night
Give us just one victory, it will be all right

We may feel about to fall but we go down fighting
You will hear the call if you only listen
Underneath it all we are here together shining still

Edgy DC
Jun 30 2006 10:40 PM

You could have a steam train
If you'd just lay down your tracks
You could have an aeroplane flying
If you bring your blue sky back

All you do is call me
I'll be anything you need

You could have a big dipper
Going up and down, all around the bends
You could have a bumper car, bumping
This amusement never ends

I want to be your sledgehammer
Why don't you call my name
Oh let me be your sledgehammer
This will be my testimony

Show me round your fruitcage
'Cos I will be your honey bee
Open up your fruitcage
Where the fruit is as sweet as can be

I want to be your sledgehammer
Why don't you call my name
You'd better call the sledgehammer
Put your mind at rest

I'm going to be-the sledgehammer
This can be my testimony
I'm your sledgehammer
Let there be no doubt about it

Sledge sledge sledgehammer

I've kicked the habit
Shed my skin
This is the new stuff
I go dancing in, we go dancing in
Oh won't you show for me
And I will show for you
Show for me
I will show for you
Yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I do mean you
Only you
You've been coming through
Going to build that powerr
Build, build up that power, hey
I've been feeding the rhythm
I've been feeding the rhythm
Going to feel that power, build in you
Come on, come on, help me do
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you
I've been feeding the rhythm
I've been feeding the rhythm
It's what we're doing, doing
All day and night

Zvon

and some Peter Gabriel too!

Ahhhh--this makes the whole night worth it.
Thx guys.

After a game like this i needed that.

And to think I stayed home just to keep tabs on this game.
Worst decision ever!

Ok, maybe just this week.

This team needs an All-Star Break.

Frayed Knot
Jun 30 2006 10:47 PM

Obviously, getting one dinky hit isn't going to get the job done no matter what else you do ... but we've just been getting killed by the running game lately; both ours AND theirs.

- Endy getting picked off
- Franco getting picked off last night
- the strikeout/throw DP with Valentin (who was out by about 10 yards)
- Reyes getting tossed at home on a play which he should never have been sent
- Reyes also got picked off last week and caught stealing as well (pitch out)
- Meanwhile Bernie Williams is 65 years old and steals one virtually uncontested, as did Coco yesterday and it's happening with LoDuke AND Castro

Giving away outs, and giving up extra bases

I don't know what you mean by virtually. He was uncontested.

Let's also add letting David Ortiz move around the bases on productive outs.

Does Jose Valentin think he can run...He's been nailed stealing or stretching 5 times lately smiling all the while

Delgado and Loduca are not second half players...Never cared for Trachsel

Time to put Dontrelle Willis on the board...Milledge and Nady maybe they might want Humber too...

cleonjones11

David Wright looks lost or scared..Reyes too..oh thats right we're playing the American League....

As long as the Marlins heads are above water, Willis aint goin anywhere.
And I would rather he did for the sake of my fantasy teams.

Delgado and Loduca are not pigeoned holed like that.
Trachsel says he never cared for you much either.

Valentin may have had some baserunning blunders recently, but he wasnt smiling. Thats a 24/7 grimace he wears.

I always enjoy hearing your input Cleon. Especially when it sensable enough to respond to.

Lost or scared?
How about just a funk because they have contibuted and won so may ballgames for the Mets they are just taking a breather to reminise before they recharge and start doing it again.
