NY Mets

J. Reyes ss
P. Lo Duca dh
C. Beltran cf
D. Wright 3b
J. Franco 1b
X. Nady rf
C. Woodward 2b
R. Castro c
E. Marrero lf

NY Yankees

J. Damon cf
D. Jeter ss
J. Giambi dh
A. Rodriguez 3b
J. Posada c
A. Phillips 1b
M. Cabrera lf
B. Crosby rf
M. Cairo 2b

Woodward and Marrero make the lineup even weaker than last night. No Delgado, no (edit)Floyd.

Trachsel and Unit have the same winning percentage and virtually the same ERA.

I dial up Mets.com every day and they show the highlight from the previous day's game.

A modest bases-empty single to left by Chavez greeted me today.

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 01:22 PM

Nady-yay!
Is Floyd not fresh enough to go on a day game after a night game?
Or is that just an old man thing......

I saw that highlight, and to me it looked like with a lil agressiveness that bloop/drive couldnt have been snagged.

Having a bench of two unavailable guys and whoever isn't playing second is sort of awkward. Maybe we should have sent for some Virginian help for this series.

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 01:26 PM

I went out on a limb with Trachsel earlier this season (i wont repeat it now), and Im climbin back out on it now---uh-oh--it feels kinda shakey--but Im out there.
Todays the day.

I was watching the World Cup and I almost forgot about the Mets game.

And that's a sentence I never would've thought I'd say.

Oh, and base hit for Reyes.

tru--this series did not set up well in any instance, from bench to mound.
But its just one a those interleague bullshit games-who cares-right?

Reyes leads off with a single to right.

Edgy DC

LoDuke does his thang-
doubles Reyes to third.

Lets Go Mets--plate em all.

There's the REAL David Wright!

2-0 Mets quickly.

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 01:34 PM

Beltran swings at the only pitch that would result in a non productive at bat-hi heat for an infield pop out.

BUT WRIGHT DOES IT RIGHT!
Doubles in two!

Mr Franco does alotta jawing with the umps.
He better be careful---it would be embarrassing if his false teeth popped out of his mouth.

Jul 01 2006 01:36 PM

Dear Tim.

Melky Cabrera is a centerfielder playing left.

C'mon, Willie, Trachsel is looking for you to argue.

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 01:46 PM

AWWWW---COMON BLU!!!!!awful call

Puts Trax in a hole right off the gitgo--
ugh--horrible horrible call.

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 01:47 PM

UGH--and umpires interference keep castro from catching a foul pop---what the hells goin on here!?????

OlerudOwned
Jul 01 2006 01:48 PM

Hah. After the ump boxes out Castro, Giambi takes strike 3 and Damon gets thrown out running by a mile.

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 01:49 PM

HA! Mets with a strike em out throw em out DP.

Guess Torre wants to assure this will be a fair game.

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 01:54 PM

Whats the point of the diatrabe comparing Posada and Mauers batting averages?
Cripes.

Trachsels gets out of it,only because Posada cant hit like Maurer :)

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 01:57 PM

Woodward does his job--makes Randy look like a spazz.
And Castro tries to do the same :)

OlerudOwned

I guess Randy found his slider. Suxx.

McCarver turned into a broken record,....a loong loong time ago.

Trax in some trouble as he gives up back to back singles to Damon and Jeter to start the 3rd.

I like watching Trachsel get out a these fixes.

You think they used ultimatemets for the trivia question?

I got Throneberry as the answer.

Zvon

Ugh--he walks Giambi.

Bases loaded-0 out.

A-Rod up.
Well, this is a clutch spot so Im not worried bout him.

If he was clutch he woulda parked one there.
Line single makes it 2-1 Mets.

Skanks tie it as Posada grounds into the DP.

Maura wouldnt have done that.

OlerudOwned
Jul 01 2006 02:30 PM

Posada gets doubled off which is good, but the tying run scores which is bad.

Kool.
I heard something last night about Marv being one of the few players to snap a 13 game losing streak with a walkoff--back in '62 with the Mets.
I think thats what they were sayin, anyway.......

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 02:35 PM

Randy wants nothing to do with David Wright.
Walks him.

Zvon

Zvon

Mets have the bases loaded, 1 out- Castro at the plate.

He rips a 2 run single!

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 02:53 PM

Reyes back on track!
RBI single.

Carbrera in left with a horrible throw home.
No error there?
Runners moved up!

*Z issues a warning to the official scorer

Just a regular warnig this time.

CBS Sportsline isnt a bad way to watch--if you have to and dont mind reading the game. Its amazingly quick time wise (most of the time)
Game is on FOX.

Trachsel with 74 pitches thru 4.
How many do we get out of him?

TransMonk
Jul 01 2006 03:08 PM

And they trot him back out there...if this were the NL, Randy would have been done after 4.

I didnt like the look of that play off the mound at all.
I wont even mention that he shouldnt have tried to glove it-
I just hope he aint hurt, and if you saw what he was saying under his glove, and I really couldnt, you gotta be worried that Trax may have aggravated his back problem.
Damn.
I sure hope this isnt the case.

Trachsel himself said he was fine. He was nearing his limit anyway, so the sided with caution. He should be fine.

Zvon
Jul 01 2006 04:29 PM

what you posted there is actually the 1st Ive heard of a groin problem.

CBS Sportsline has this game note:

Reports from Fox on TV say he's fine and dandy.

Report from the house of evil:

MFY fans too busy trying to boo down the Let's Go Mets chants to boo Slappy.

Umps screwed us. McClelland took even longer to call Cap'n Intangibles safe at first than he does to call balls and strikes.

I'd estimate at 75% MFY fans, 25% Mets fans, which is slightly higher than it seems to usually be in the Bronx for these games.

I love being able to see the people leave after Cap'n Intangibles grounded into the double play and ask "Where are all these people going? Is there a fire? What's happening? The game's not over yet!"

I really used to like Tim McCarver, but he needs to just shut the hell up. He remarked today that the Yankees "have had more than their share" of injuries.

Hey, Tim -- BULLSHIT. Jeter hurt? Unit? Giambi? Posada? Mussina? Damon? A-Rod? What? None of those guys has been hurt all year? They've lost two outfielders and a pitcher? That's it? Shut the F up, Tim.

One of the Yankee play-by-play man set Leiter up with a puffball yesterday. Going from memory...

"There's been some controversy about Wagner using 'Enter Sandman' in New York. Of course there's only one Sandman. Mariano Rivera. One of the great entrances in all of sports. (Huh?) Al, you were part of that for a bit. Was there anything quite like seeing Rivera coming in to 'Enter Sandman'?"

Al, apparently missing a memo, was having none of it.

"Well, there was Hoffman in San Diego with 'Hell's Bells. Hoo, boy!"

"...well, oh, yeah, sure."

Anywhoo, suggests Justice's recent YES rip-job on Arod came on orders from Steiny. Justice evidently was arguing just the opposite the other day.
