And Miguel Cabrera sneaks one over the wall, as Floyd convinces everyone he's caught it.

Maine not looking bad, tho.

Whoops-there goes the shutout.

Cabrera hits one out just over (or off) the glove of Cliffy in the 2nd.

lol-that was a nice deek by Floyd. He finally had to open his glove to reveal its emptyness.

Maine does look good.
That fish smack was off the end of the bat-not a bad pitch.
Maybe a lil flat.

Delgado is plunked on the hand---YOW!
This is all we need............
Didnt look good.
Got a good piece of his hand.

Mets have something goin with runners on the corners, one out, in the 2nd.

Nady swings at a wide strike 3 and I can hear him scream FUCK from here.

Hillbilly
Jul 08 2006 02:02 PM

How's Maine with the stick? He's up with 2 down and the bases loaded in the bottom of the second.

TheOldMole
Jul 08 2006 02:03 PM

Not so good, it turns out.

Hillbilly
Jul 08 2006 02:03 PM

He's no Willis. Down on strikes.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 02:03 PM

So LoDuca will catch Pelfry in game two.

Castro draws the walk to load the bases, and Maine will have to help himself---
or not-
he goes down almost swinging.

Nice bender from Maine. (on Johnson)

If he can mix in a curve like that for the rest of the game, at will, Florida's done for the day.

DAMN!
Wright,Woody and Floyd look like the 3 stooges on a pop foul behind third.
No one gets it and then they all bump around like billiard balls.

TheOldMole
Jul 08 2006 02:13 PM

But no harm done.

Elster88
Jul 08 2006 02:16 PM

That's a fairly ugly Met lineup.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 02:25 PM

Wow-Mets get a break on that attempted steal by Uggla.
Good freakin call.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 02:34 PM

You could see the effects of that hit by pitch from earlier in the game on Delgado in that at bat.
Ks with a weak swing.

This Johnson kid aint afraid to come inside.
He can pitch.

Works Wright in and then goes away making David flail widly at the pitch outside for another K.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 02:38 PM

Josh Willingham with ANOTHER homer to left off the end of the bat.
That was a good spot Maine would have hit.
How can anyone pull that out?

Crapcrackers.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 02:57 PM

Josh J walks in a run.
Mets get a run w/o a hit this inning.
3 walks and an error.

Franco hits for Delgado, so that hand must be hurtin.

And he walks Mr Franco to tie the game!

Man, he unraveled fast.
All since that lil error at second.

TheOldMole
Jul 08 2006 02:57 PM

This game may turn into just a walk in the park for the Amazin's.

I was hopin the Mets would get to Johnson, somehow, get him outta there early.

But the way he was pitchin-I didnt expect an inning like that.
He gets out of it and stays in, but its a whole new ballgame-
2-2

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 03:04 PM

BIG PLAY BY BELTRAN! Great throw.

Amezega goes for two but he's a fish outta water.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 03:06 PM

Awwww-
You cant be givin up a homer to Ramirez, Maine.
He got allaDat.

Mets give it right back.
ugh.

TransMonk
Jul 08 2006 03:09 PM

On the plus side, Maine seems to be getting better with each start...granted he's given up 3 homers, they were all solos and he's keeping the team in the game and staying away from the big inning.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 03:09 PM

Mets do get into the fish pen.
Herges takes the mound.

they're missing LoDuca for Castro, not a huge loss.
they're missing reyes for woodward...ok that sucks

i'd hardly call that an ugly lineup though when only 2 regulars are out and wright, beltran, and delgado are in there.

Nymr83
Jul 08 2006 03:24 PM

way to go Feliciano. if you're gonna run your mouth about Willie's usage of you you'd better back it up with results.

Delgado was in there.
I dont think the lineup is ugly.
Woody is capable and Val in the lead off spot---could be worse.
But you have to admit,
a doubleheader without Reyes is like a day without electricity.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 03:26 PM

Great job by Bradford, once again bailing out Feliciano.

Bradford bails him out. Great job!

nice job by Bradford cleaning up big-mouth Feliciano's mess.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 03:33 PM

Fish centerfielder Amezaga has the old style flip up sunglasses on.

Thats pretty kool to see.

Hillbilly
Jul 08 2006 03:44 PM

Are going to get any more hits, or is two going to it?

TransMonk
Jul 08 2006 03:46 PM

I can tell this lineup is ugly without even reading the names.

2 hits, 7 strikeouts, 7 left on base, 2 runs scored (on 0 hits, both unearned) through 7 innings.

The pitching has done it's part, frankly more than I expected...we need a couple of runs guys.

Hillbilly
Jul 08 2006 03:52 PM

Franco with the lead-off base hit. Come on Wright!

TransMonk
Jul 08 2006 03:55 PM

Who's hurt?...Gameday just says injury delay.

TheOldMole
Jul 08 2006 03:56 PM

Ramirez, and what a play! Clipped in the head by elbow from the left fielder when they collided going for a popup. He held onto the ball, threw it in to the cutoff man, and then collapsed in pain.

Hillbilly
Jul 08 2006 03:57 PM

Rameriz. He's up now.

TheOldMole
Jul 08 2006 03:57 PM

Cliff Floyd bopped again! Just above the knee.

Hillbilly
Jul 08 2006 03:58 PM

Now its: Floyd Hit by pitch. He's a tough guy and takes his base.

TheOldMole
Jul 08 2006 03:59 PM

Reyes in to pinch run for Franco. No head first slides, I hope.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 03:59 PM

Collision with Willingham and Ramirez on Wrights shallow pop to left.

Willingham elbowed Ramirez right in the side of the skull.
It was amazing that Ramirez held onto the ball and threw it back to the infield before going down in pain.

OUCH!
Floyd is solidly hit by a pitch in the leg.

And Reyes will pinch run for Mr Franco!
Kool.

Hillbilly
Jul 08 2006 03:59 PM

Or hand first.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 04:03 PM

UGH--LoDuke gets tied up on an inside fastball and goes down swinging.
Fox says only the 8th K for LoDuca this season.

Come on Castro

TheOldMole
Jul 08 2006 04:03 PM

And yes -- a head first slide on a steal of third attempt -- called back as the pitch is fouled off. Leading with his bad hand.

Hillbilly
Jul 08 2006 04:03 PM

Wig out!!!!!!

He slid head first!

TransMonk
Jul 08 2006 04:04 PM

Mother of Pearl...grrrr.

Hillbilly
Jul 08 2006 04:04 PM

Can't get the key hit!!!

Let's get that walk off hit in the ninth!!!!

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 04:08 PM

Sanchez plunks Cabrera in the same exact spot as Cliff was hit.
Benches empty-
paybacks are a bitch.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 04:09 PM

I gotta question that move in a 3-2 game--
but I wont say i didnt like seein it.

TheOldMole
Jul 08 2006 04:11 PM

Sanchez stings one in for a strikeout. Beautiful pitch. Two away.

Zvon
Jul 08 2006 04:15 PM

whoa-I loved that inning by Sanchez. gets it alllll done.
Hope its inspiring.

TransMonk
Jul 08 2006 04:15 PM

Chavez, Valentin, Woodward due up in the ninth as I pray a little pray.

Hillbilly
Jul 08 2006 04:16 PM

They better wake up and start using their bats for Pelfry in game two.

Ill have to read it online.

Jul 08 2006 09:09 PM

Yeah, it pretty much sucked. I was glad to see Willie playing hard to win though.
