Recently, Svetlana a 27 yo Russian woman asked my entire department on a date.
|
Elster88 Aug 08 2006 01:29 PM |
Forward that email to my PM box. I dig Russian chicks.

Willets Point Aug 08 2006 01:33 PM |
I get the impression that she's only interested in group dates with librarians.

|
Edgy DC Sep 01 2006 11:50 AM |
Apparently I do, because that shit didn't do it for me at all.

What are "Christian loan payoffs" anyway? I've been getting e-mails about paying off my loans in a Christian manner for years.
|
cooby Sep 20 2006 09:53 AM |
You add an extra 10%
|
Edgy DC Sep 20 2006 09:54 AM |
An attempt to take advantage of people more likely to trust goods and services with a "Chrisitian" label?
|
Willets Point Sep 20 2006 09:55 AM |

That is also the methodology behind the average spammer's marketing plan.
|
Benjamin Grimm Sep 20 2006 10:00 AM |
My guess is that is has something to do with the biblical prohibition of usury.
|
Benjamin Grimm Sep 21 2006 10:41 AM |
I just got another one of those Christian loan e-mails. (Am I the only one who gets them?)
|
cooby Sep 21 2006 10:43 AM |
I am a Christian and I have more loans than you can shake a stick at. Maybe I'm all loaned out.

Returning from a week away from work and I have 1308 spam emails in my junk mail box.
|
cooby Oct 02 2006 12:23 PM |
Did you get any actual email?
|
cooby Oct 12 2006 03:18 PM |
I just came home from work to find 119 emails, one from my sister, one from Scarlett, and 117 that were supposed to go to my husband! Grrr!
|
metsmarathon Oct 12 2006 05:11 PM |
i hardly get any spam, either at work or at home. i had a rare time in the previous 24 hours wherein i received actual spam in both.
|
Benjamin Grimm Oct 12 2006 05:12 PM |
I probably get 200 to 300 spams a day.
|
cooby Oct 12 2006 06:15 PM |
There was ONE good email in all that. It was to remind him that his friend Cathy's birthday is next week.

I've been getting a lot of e-mail lately from people who think my name is "yashu."
|
Benjamin Grimm Oct 31 2006 05:35 PM |
Those people who are always calling me "yashu" just offered me a free cheesecake dinner for two!

SK - I can handle that for you, if you want.

ScarletKnight41 Oct 31 2006 07:39 PM |

So far they haven't spammed me since I threatened to vote Republican. But I'll PM you if they start up again. Thanks. What's with these people? I have never had so much junk e-mail from a politician before!
|
Valadius Oct 31 2006 07:49 PM |
Well, it is getting to be a bitter race. Having worked on the Menendez campaign for three months this summer, though, I have personal connections I can use to get you off of any mailing lists.
|
ScarletKnight41 Oct 31 2006 07:54 PM |
Cool - thanks.
|
cooby Oct 31 2006 08:56 PM |
Gina's after my time :)
|
Valadius Oct 31 2006 09:29 PM |
Ah, phone-banking. The drudgery of most political interns. Please don't hold it against them - most of us loathe it. In fact, on both campaigns I worked on (Corzine 2005 and Menendez 2006) one of the few stipulations I made for the work I would do was that I wouldn't be forced to do phone-banking. And I was allowed that exemption.
|
cooby Oct 31 2006 09:31 PM |
No, I don't Val. I know someone has to do it! They've all been recordings so far anyway :)
|
ScarletKnight41 Nov 01 2006 05:10 AM |
I hold it against anyone involved in interrupting my peace and quiet at home, be it by telephone calls or spam.

A library board race, of all things, was going to the wire when I lived back in the Rock. We knew the "issues" and were prepared to vote after dinner, when, during dinner, we got calls from each candidate. My mom and my brother declared a pox on both their houses and refused to head out.
|
cooby Nov 01 2006 05:31 AM |

The Interlibrary Loan departmental email account continues to receive emails of this nature:
Apart from the fact that Irina apparently wants to date the entire department instead of an individual, I am amused that she included a survey in her proposal.

Today I learned that I won the UK Lottery (and I didn't even enter). All I have to do is fill out a simple form and send it in to claim my prize. I don't know how much money £400,000 equates too, but it sure sounds enticing. Tempting as this offer sounds, I think I'll still go in to work tomorrow morning.
