SPAM, part lV

KC
Jul 06 2006 11:58 AM

Between internet software and google mail's built in spam detectors, I get
very little spam anymore (except on one account which is my own fault).
mets.com sends out way too many freakin' messages, seems like at least
two a day. I don't mind getting news, but NO, I'm not voting for Wagner and
frankly the pimping for votes via email is nothing but SPAM.

I just don't get the motive for some spam, I mean what the fuh?

Subject line: groovy

The very idea of me sitting here without it! That Margaret shouldnt know how mean, how despicably meanhe is?
Well, if you would perhaps remove your coat. A splash had now to be made, Gemma got up to kill. Sheshivered into herself as though she had been stripped naked.
It was deep night;the house was still, the room sunk in shadow. Did other young lips meet beneath theflames of the evening sky? No, HER difficulty was to keep from smiling when she heard himsay: As I was telling your sister . She edged away; for he didntlook much, and she had her fur to think of.
Perhaps she was afraidit had been stolen.
In which case her sisters wouldhave to turn out, go as governesses or even worse. And in a land, too, where women stood at a premium! On this particular day she, Ann, carried a more than usually heavy load. Anything more appalling than the nearness of this scarletmonster . To this there was no answer; except from the humming, which seemed togrow momentarily louder. And the name fittedher like her own skin.
What about Car, Car,the tall and willowy, the superbly busted? The sun went down, huge, flamboyant, in a violet-streaked sky.
Stay with me, only stay, and Ill tell you everything.
Stay with me, only stay, and Ill tell you everything.
But at least I meant to sell itagain after she went, and put the money back.
On this particular day she, Ann, carried a more than usually heavy load.
Now, she could move, sit up with ease, turn her head, look about her.
And as Margarets soleresponse was an agreeable smile: It was a present from Harry, you see. And flingingherself on her knees she hid her face in her mothers lap. What about Car, Car,the tall and willowy, the superbly busted?
Now, she could move, sit up with ease, turn her head, look about her.
Very well then, if its not her, if itsme, and Im dead, then Ill stop dead. He either sat mum, or barked outshort, staccato sentences: the and thats that! Old OGrady and his six galswas the snigger that went the round. You neednt mind being bare before me, little Katie.

That is also the methodology behind the average spammer's marketing plan.

Benjamin Grimm

My guess is that is has something to do with the biblical prohibition of usury.

I think paying off loans without interest would be appealing to those of all denominations.

I just got another one of those Christian loan e-mails. (Am I the only one who gets them?)

Ah, phone-banking. The drudgery of most political interns. Please don't hold it against them - most of us loathe it. In fact, on both campaigns I worked on (Corzine 2005 and Menendez 2006) one of the few stipulations I made for the work I would do was that I wouldn't be forced to do phone-banking. And I was allowed that exemption.

I hold it against anyone involved in interrupting my peace and quiet at home, be it by telephone calls or spam.

Some day studies will prove that these tactics are counterproductive. Annoying the constituency only helps your opponents.

A library board race, of all things, was going to the wire when I lived back in the Rock. We knew the "issues" and were prepared to vote after dinner, when, during dinner, we got calls from each candidate. My mom and my brother declared a pox on both their houses and refused to head out.

I put on my Jimmy Stewart hat and told them that, if they were going out to vote anyway, they were denying themselves to stay home to spite the candidates. If they want to stick it to them, to do what I do.

"What's that?"

"I'm writing in Mom."

Two days later, the local paper declares the result of the race, noting in their front page article that I came in third with three votes. My mother and brother acknowledged writing my crusading ass in, but I never found out who the third vote was from.
