Rollins homers and Pedro's down 1-0.
Elster88 Jun 30 2005 01:37 PM |
I feel like the majority of Pedro's ER come off of HR.
Frayed Knot Jun 30 2005 01:38 PM |
Pratt is the Phils' only RHB against Pedro today (prolly Leiber also) as Manuel stacks the lineup and sits Burrell
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 01:38 PM |
At least we know that Beltran will be hitting a homer today.

Arguing checked-swing calls apparently. Manuel got tossed after argument too.
metirish Jun 30 2005 01:49 PM |
That wouldn't have happened back in the old days.....
Edgy DC Jun 30 2005 01:58 PM |
Woodie puts the Mets ahead with a two-run single after being down 0-2.
metirish Jun 30 2005 01:59 PM |
Woodie is a good hitter, goes up to bat with a clue.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 02:00 PM |
Pedro batting, and on the second pitch the ball is put in play with no out recorded.
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 02:01 PM |
That's weird. Sportsline says the first two pitches to Pedro were both balls, up and in.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 02:01 PM |
It looks like he reached base on a sacrifice bunt.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 02:02 PM |
Reyes forces Wright at home.
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 02:03 PM |
Come on, Cammy. Break this baby wide open.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 02:03 PM |
And Cameron strikes out to end the inning.
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 02:04 PM |
Or strike out. Whatever.
Elster88 Jun 30 2005 02:05 PM |
At what point is it okay to experiment with Woody as the full time first baseman?
Edgy DC Jun 30 2005 02:08 PM |
Another time.
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 02:17 PM |
And just like that, Cliff Floyd is now the 41st-most-stealingest Met of all time, tied with Brett Butler, Chico Walker, and Ron Hunt at 21.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 02:21 PM |
As the fourth inning begins, Pedro's already thrown 55 pitches.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 02:29 PM |
Bottom of the 4th, Woodward doubles with none out and Wright on first (after a HBP.)
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 02:30 PM |
And Jose's ninth triple brings home Wright and Woody.
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 02:31 PM |
And Cameron brings home Jose.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 02:31 PM |
EVERYBODY hits!
Frayed Knot Jun 30 2005 02:31 PM |
Looks like both ends of the Philly battery is going to have themselves a short afternoon as Reyes hits his signature play (3-bagger) to knock in 2, and then gets singled in by Cammy.
Frayed Knot Jun 30 2005 02:32 PM |
Or ... he can get Beltran to bang into a GiDP and get out of the inning quickly.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 02:33 PM |
Everybody except Beltran, that is.
Edgy DC Jun 30 2005 02:34 PM |
First person to call Carlos "Foster" is going to get such a pinch.
Rotblatt Jun 30 2005 02:59 PM |
I say we give Petey the ball in the 7th. He's at 99 pitches, but it's the bottom of the order and our pen could use an extra inning's rest.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 02:59 PM |
Mets lead 5-2 after 6.
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 03:01 PM |
Gotta get Looper an inning in this game; he hasn't pitched since Sunday. He'll pitch the ninth no matter what.
Rotblatt Jun 30 2005 03:03 PM |
We're all overruled. Diaz in to pinch hit for him with 2 outs and no one on.

Edgy DC Jun 30 2005 03:07 PM |
So they're in the home pinstripes and blue caps, right?
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 03:11 PM |
Maybe he can come back into the game, Sports Guy-column style:
Edgy DC Jun 30 2005 03:16 PM |
Jam.
Rotblatt Jun 30 2005 03:17 PM |
Willie, can you please please please let your pitchers work and stop trying to be so cute?
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 03:19 PM |
The double play... the pitcher's best friend. GET UP and stretch.
Rotblatt Jun 30 2005 03:21 PM |
And for all that, Ring gets Abreu to ground into a double play.
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 03:27 PM |
Beltran stole two bases! I didn't know he could steal bases.
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 03:28 PM |
Cliffy walks. First and third. Let's steal one more, Cliffy.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 03:30 PM |
Stealing third with two out: doesn't that violate Conventional Wisdom?
Rotblatt Jun 30 2005 03:30 PM |
Nah, just threaten to steal, Cliff. Keep a nice hole between 1st & 2nd for Piazza to ground the ball through. And distract the pitcher!
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 03:33 PM |
(sigh)
holychicken Jun 30 2005 03:36 PM |
I HATE when relief pitchers walk the first batter in close games. . . frustrates the hell out of me.
Rotblatt Jun 30 2005 03:37 PM |
Me too, chicken . . .
metirish Jun 30 2005 03:38 PM |
Jimmy Rollins grounds out, shortstop Jose Reyes to first baseman Chris Woodward. Jim Thome to 2nd.
holychicken Jun 30 2005 03:38 PM |
When are our pitchers going to learn that walks are highly likely to kill us?
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 03:38 PM |
After Thome's walk, Rollins grounds out. Utley walks.
metirish Jun 30 2005 03:39 PM |
Pitcher Change: Roberto Hernandez replaces Royce Ring, batting 9th.
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 03:41 PM |
The double play... the pitcher's best friend.
Rotblatt Jun 30 2005 03:43 PM |
Shit, man, this sucks.
holychicken Jun 30 2005 03:45 PM |
I do love double plays. . . but I don't like the numbers rotblatt just posted. . .
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 03:46 PM |
Looper vs.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 03:48 PM |
Hernandez threw one pitch.
holychicken Jun 30 2005 03:49 PM |
well, here we go. . .
Rotblatt Jun 30 2005 03:51 PM |
Good call, seawolf. I posted before the DP--now things look a little better for Loopy.
holychicken Jun 30 2005 03:52 PM |
Does anyone know why he pinchhit for Cliffy?
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 03:54 PM |
I completely misjudged the lineup above. Ignore that. Sorry.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 03:54 PM |
Lieberthal grounds out.
metirish Jun 30 2005 03:54 PM |
Jason Michaels flies out to right fielder Mike Cameron.
holychicken Jun 30 2005 03:54 PM |
I think you mean 2 outs, lofton batting
Willets Point Jun 30 2005 03:56 PM |
Yay Mets!!!
holychicken Jun 30 2005 03:56 PM |

Pitch 1 - Called Strike
Rotblatt Jun 30 2005 03:58 PM |
woo-hoo!
seawolf17 Jun 30 2005 03:58 PM |
Give that man a Schaefer point! 2 out of 3, 2 out of 3, 2 out of 3. Slowly coming together.
Yancy Street Gang Jun 30 2005 03:58 PM |
I think you mean 2 outs, lofton batting
Frayed Knot Jun 30 2005 04:06 PM |
Who says Loopy doesn't ever get 1-2-3 innings? (I mean, aside from all the radio callers sure to chime in next time he doesn't)
ScarletKnight41 Jun 30 2005 04:12 PM |
The SBS applauds the CPF for playing the negative Karma perfectly with Looper coming in for the 9th ;)
MFS62 Jun 30 2005 04:31 PM |
I can just hear the sports talk callers on the radio now:
willpie Jun 30 2005 04:34 PM |
We're just learning how to implement the reverse jinx. Someday, we will use its power for good, like the SoSH folks did.
Frayed Knot Jun 30 2005 05:01 PM |
Use its power for good?
Nymr83 Jun 30 2005 05:59 PM |
i was there today, great game.
Elster88 Jun 30 2005 07:15 PM |
They had the shift on with a runner on third? Will someone explain to me now why he didn't bunt the ball up the third base line? Unless he's the crappiest bunter ever, Nymr is right, Beltran could crawl home and Floyd would easily make it to first.
Frayed Knot Jun 30 2005 10:13 PM |
Cliff did bunt for a basehit earlier in the game against the shift ... nice bunt too.
Elster88 Jul 01 2005 09:22 AM |
Ah, I didn't realize there were two strikes by the time Carlos got there. I agree with your opinion on the chances of stealing home too, I wasn't advocating that, just the bunt itself.
