Brought over from the IGT . . .

Many of us have been predicting that the Nationals were in over their heads. Many of us have also been longing for a strong run by the Mets. Over the past four days, the destinies of these two teams clashed. We emerged victorious, but is this just a blip on our radars? Or the start of something greater? Is this the beginning of the end for the Nationals, or just a bump on the road?

The Expos have already been messing with the baseball gods - they already are taking names for postseason ticket purchases.

Plus the sale of Mets Suck shirts in front of RFK before Monday's game was also not good for their Karma.

The hell with them - they'll wilt in the August sun.

I won't buy a rise for the Mets until I see some hitting for more than a couple days in a row. What did they have, seven hits in eleven innings? Five of which were from two guys?

I do think this could mark the beginning of the end for the Nats.

When the skies are brighter canary yellow
I forget ev'ry cloud I've ever seen,
So they called me a cockeyed optimist
Immature and incurably green.
I have heard people rant and rave and bellow
That we're done and we might as well be dead,
But I'm only a cockeyed optimist
And I can't get it into my head.
I hear the human race
Is fallin' on its face
And hasn't very far to go,
But ev'ry whippoorwill
Is sellin' me a bill,
And tellin' me it just ain't so.
I could say life is just a bowl of Jello
And appear more intelligent and smart,
But I'm stuck like a dope
With a thing called hope,
And I can't get it out of my heart!

Only one team in the history of baseball has made the postseason with a negative run differential - the '87 Twins.

I DOUBT the Nats will be the second.

Although, I didn't vote this way, but in reality, this is actually the begining of the Mets' ascent. . .considering they were in 5th place and now they are in 4th place.

The begining might be the ending as well, but that's okay. :)

They had beach balls in the stand Tuesday and they play Sweet Caroline in the 6th inning of games.

Beginning of end for Gnats (Knats?).

Mets are a .500 club until further notice.

The more games a team plays, the more their true talent level seems to emerge. The Nationals have been playing way over thei heads, but they don't have the talent to sustain a run throughout the duration of the season.

a monument park of their own?

DC has enough monuments already, and it had them before the yankees did.

It's far too soon to tell if it's significant -- but I decided to be an optimist and vote both.

"Neither" wins.

Come forward and collect your melted ice cream if you said "Neither."
