I keep getting logged off every few minutes. I had to log on 5 different times just to read through today's posts.

I got a question. Do you (anyone reading this post) show up in the "users
|
seawolf17 Sep 29 2005 10:08 PM |
I think the "users browsing this forum" reflects users who have been active within the last few minutes, but there's probably a little delay from when you click into the forum to when you show up on the list.

cooby Sep 29 2005 10:10 PM |
I've noticed it. It makes me feel so "stealth"

What web browser are you using?
|
cooby Oct 02 2005 06:50 PM |
IE, here and at work, that must be the problem then
|
ScarletKnight41 Oct 02 2005 06:56 PM |
I didn't get logged out. I sometimes sign in and out of here to quickly check things out while I'm taking a break from my schoolwork. When I came back just now, I was still logged in.
|
cooby Oct 02 2005 06:59 PM |
Weird, I swear your name disappeared all of a sudden along with a whole bunch of others.

It's what I do. Now you see me, now you don't.

I've been able to stay logged in much better this afternoon. Maybe our desktops

I did read something on PHPBB's web site that AOL users frequently have trouble staying logged in. Something about the way AOL uses roving IP addresses or something.

I use a cable modem. I seem to get kicked off any time I take more than a few minutes reading posts in a thread or writing a post.
|
ScarletKnight41 Oct 04 2005 07:57 PM |
I don't get kicked off per se. But lately, for no reason, often the board will reset itself and won't tell me which threads are still unread (they will all appear to have been read, even if I haven't looked at them yet).

I never get logged off. Ever. I'm running vanilla mozilla (I had issues with firefox) and I have cable. I also ticked the little "Keep me logged on on this computer" button when I first logged in here. I don't know it that information will help anyone.

Vanilla Mozilla? Isn't that Bobby Bonilla's wife?

Frankly, Scarlett, that's been happening to me, too. Sometimes, not always, when I post a response in a thread, the other threads that I haven't read yet lose their unread status. This first popped up in the last week or two.
|
ScarletKnight41 Oct 06 2005 03:45 PM |
Yes - it's a recent phenomenon.
|
Rockin' Doc Oct 07 2005 06:29 AM |
I agree that getting logged off unexpectedly is a recent problem. I never had it happen to me until last week. Now it seems to happens any time that I stay in the same thread for too long. If I spend much time reading a thread or writing a post, then I'm almost assured that I will be disconnected once I move to the next screen. I just have to keep moving.
|
seawolf17 Oct 07 2005 07:24 AM |
Yancy, that's been happening to me a lot lately also.
|
Johnny Dickshot Oct 07 2005 07:26 AM |
Si senor. Although if it happened all time time I wouldn't have found this thread.

I think I have not only solved the problem of how to stop it, but why some people aren't affected.

When you log in, choose the "always stay logged in" box. It seems to work

You'll find it always works, sometimes.
