Where's An Administrator When Ya Need One?

ScarletKnight41

There's a newly registered poster whose membership needs activation.

The e-mail came through. But it says that we need to fax a signature to the administrator to get the account activated. Trouble is, there is no fax number provided.

Um, sure. I'll PM you the number.

You sure you want to do this?

Good grief! Lie and say he's 13! I did.

Yeah, D-Dad and I discussed it, and we're good with it.

He'll be supervised anyway - he doesn't type on his own yet.

My guess is that he'll post a couple of times and then forget about it for a couple of years. But he came to us tonight and said that he wanted to register.

Thanks.

I still need that fax number.

You people are way too above board.

Fax number? I activated him. One slip up and banned until 16 lololol.

Which actually illustrates the point that we're the kind of people who will be supervising the little guy here. It's the 12-year-olds who surf the net unsupervised who should be more of a concern - I bet we're being read by lots of kids.

We've always had a policy of not censoring language here. But anyone who is worried about the little guy hanging out here might want to rethink the policy in general. You guys just know that there's a small one who'll be around here now - I think it's reasonable to assume that he isn't the only one, though. And most of them won't be surfing with their moms in the room.

FWIW, Mini Knight has a pretty good sense of humor and isn't put off by the concept of "grown up" language. It's my 12-year-old who would probably have the vapors if he saw this place. But he's not interested in baseball, so that's a non-issue for me.

OE - Cool - thanks Kase :)

I have to be careful. The kid looks kind of litigious.

I emailed you my home fax number. Can you send me the form just to
educate myself as to what the program generated for you to sign. Ob-
viously, you don't have to sign it. Thanks.

Don't worry - I won't sue you.

Don't believe him - he'll sue these pants right off you!

Nice.

Kase - I sent it to you in e-mail form. I don't have a fax at home.

MiniKnight was very happy to be activated and to make his first post. Then he ran off to continue playing his video game. He might be Jim the Monstrously Huge Batboy for a while <g>

Welcome aBordick! (Is he too young to remember Mike Bordick? Jeez, I hope not. That would mean I'm older than I think.)

Maybe Mini Knight will vote in the PotG polls.

Those involve beer! He would have to sign another waiver and send it to another fax number

Well, maybe Scarlett can put his votes in for him.

MK enjoyed the greetings. And he can't remember Mike Bordick (I wish I was that lucky!).

Thanks :)

Meanwhile, or prodigal poster, A Boy Named Seo, would like to return, once an administrator activates his application.

getalife
Jul 25 2005 08:30 AM

Seo should be able to post.

getalife
Jul 25 2005 09:19 AM

Just out of curiosity, did Seo get and answer the board generated email?
The way things are set up anyone can just register and post without the
need for a moderators action. I did have to manually turn onb Seo, but
really shouldn't have had to.

When he e-mailed yesterday, he said that he was waiting for an e-mail to acknowledge his activation. So I assume that means he didn't get it.
