Let's start with some humor:

Jon Stewart's confused face cracks me up. He uses it at 1:03 in this video.

I listen to the Scientific American podcast and they played a clip of Casey Stengel testifying before Congress in the 50's and the Ted Steven's clip and they were eerily similar on the not-making-sense meter.

More news anchors should broadcast in front of screaming studio audiences.

More news anchors should be William & Mary grads.

Ted Stevens' explanation of Internet technology makes about as much sense as Strong Bad's does.

Strong Bad is far too knowledgeable to be a Congressman.

i dont understand it entirely, but i think the debate is over whether providers can charge differently or discriminate against different sorts of internet traffic.

i dont see the big deal. if i never use voip, and you do all the time, or if i just surf around and check my mail, while you are running a torrent client 24/7 and using massive bandwidth, why cant i opt to purchase a cheaper service than you that limits torrent and voip traffic? yunno, a tiered pricing structure. you wanna use more bandwidth than me, you wanna ditch your phone and use voip, ok, but if you are cloggin up the net with your traffic, why shouldnt you pay a bit more for the infrastructure carrying the information? bandwidth isnt unlimited, so why not charge proportional to use.

i dont understand why they dont just charge for actual use rather than base it on the sort of traffic. maybe they are tricking me here somehow.

anyways, given a situation i dont entirely understand, i figure the less the government regulates it the better off it is. let prices manage themselves.
