Split from IMT: 2006 FIFA World Cup Final, Italy vs. France

so the whole thing is settled with a shootout, huh?

Gee, maybe if the next world series is tied 3-3, and the seventh game goes into extra innings, they could decide it with a homerun hitting contest!

And any player hitting a HR should then have to hop around the bases.... they shouldn't run, because running wouldn't be allowed. It could be "Australian rules" baseball, which would be played like kangaroos.

Never heard that one before.

Anyone else want to give Vic a nice headbutt?

Perhaps we should start a fishing thread.

You know, so you can have a place where you can practice your trolling.

I decided to be proactive and move this here now before Vic gets his panties in a twist and starts bawling "Wah! I was just trolling in the soccer thread and Willets responded to me and hurt my feewings! Move this to the RLF!"

You're really pathetic Vic. You sit there thinking your so cool mocking something you don't care to understand. It's so childish. I gave you the benefit of the doubt the first time and apologized because I didn't see any reason for this to get out of hand. But you showed your true colors. You totally ignored the apology and decided start it all up again.

So you've had your fun. Why don't you go and write one of your pretentious film/theater reviews now. You know the ones where you sprinkle it with fancy terminology and obscure references and all those things that make you feel you're so smart and the arbiter of taste (guess what: you're not).

Or better yet why don't you copy one of your old posts and submit it again, because that's just so clever.

And while you're at it, stick a lacrosse stick up your ass. Because as we all know, all threads lead to your ass. And the reason why your ass is so prominent in this forum is because your the forum's most prominent ass.

Is moving this here some kind of joke? I don't get it.

Well, my post was a joke, KC. you can tell cuz i used a little ":)" thingy.

But WP is clearly not joking. I think his problem is that he so over-identifies with soccer that he interprets any negative comment about it as a personal attack against him, for which he responds with all kinds of personal abuse.

So, just to address a few points:

]I decided to be proactive and move this here now before Vic gets his panties in a twist and starts bawling "Wah! I was just trolling in the soccer thread and Willets responded to me and hurt my feewings! Move this to the RLF!"

My initial demand that the thread be moved to the RLF was to point out your hypocrisy, WP, in that you had just participated in banning a forumite for engaging in similar behavior.

]You're really pathetic Vic. You sit there thinking your so cool mocking something you don't care to understand. It's so childish. I gave you the benefit of the doubt the first time and apologized because I didn't see any reason for this to get out of hand. But you showed your true colors. I made a joke. A well-balanced person would've either laughed, ignored it, said the joke was stale (as 88 properly implied) or that it was stupid. Or even to say "shut up already". But you went on a prolonged rant about everything i've every posted.

You take this soccer stuff way too seriously. Its not healthy. You should lie down.

And I saw your apology, WP. But obviously YOU totally ignored it or you wouldn't have started in again with the personal attacks.

]So you've had your fun. Why don't you go and write one of your pretentious film/theater reviews now. You know the ones where you sprinkle it with fancy terminology and obscure references and all those things that make you feel you're so smart and the arbiter of taste (guess what: you're not).

If you don't understand my movie reviews, then don't read them.

]Or better yet why don't you copy one of your old posts and submit it again, because that's just so clever.

Clever? No. Its just a time-saver.

]And while you're at it, stick a lacrosse stick up your ass. Because as we all know, all threads lead to your ass. And the reason why your ass is so prominent in this forum is because your the forum's most prominent ass.

See where this thread went?

Ok Vic - you professed your hatred for soccer and then went into a thread to mock those of us discussing the game. I got pissed at you and you said you were trying to discuss something. I didn't believe you but this is the part where I gave you the benefit of the doubt and apologized for getting pissed at you. You made absolutely no acknowledgement of the apology - which is rude behavior on its own - and bided your time and then came in and crapped in another soccer thread with your ridicule. This means you lost the benefit of the doubt from the first time because I now know that you were deliberately trying to be a pest and be provacative and now you've done it twice and I'm doubly pissed.

This really has nothing to do with soccer so much as respecting others. You don't like something so you think its okay to mock it and the people who like it. This is a common trait of your posts and your behavior on the forum and I think you need to be aware that when you're a provactive pest you should expect a reaction and that you cannot act all innocent. To try wearing my shoes, imagine if I came into the Knicks thread intermitently and mocked NBA basketball and everyone who watched or if I popped into a comic book thread to say that comics are crap and comic book readers are pathetic losers.

I remember back on Metsonline we got along well, but since we've been at the CPF you've really been nothing more than a irritant to me. I've tried to ignore you, but today 5 years of pent up irriration got the best of me and I exploded for which I am sorry. The comments on your movie reviews and your ass were out of line. But there is a basic problem here in that the things you do tend to push my buttons.

If you'd like to see if we can work things out, I guess we can try talking it out here or through PM's. If you think I'm a headcase and not worth bothering with, that's fine too. I'll try to be better about ignoring you.

Originally, I was trying to discuss soccer in a thread called "why americans hate soccer", and you took personal offense to it and lashed out. So after all that nonsense, now that the world cup is over, i made a quick jape and once again you go totally apeshit.

In comparison, if you felt like going into the Knicks thread and saying why you hate the NBA (and i could think of lots of good reasons to do so), i assure you i wouldn't vilify you for doing so. I might certainly attack your reasoning, if i disagreed with it, but not YOU. And i certainly wouldn't take an attack on basketball, or comicbooks, or anything else as a personal slam on ME.

Now I might think such a negative post revealed your lack of understanding of the particular subject (as you do of me re: soccer), and so i might make either an attempt to educate you or to irritate you with humor, depending on my mood. But I certainly wouldn't take it seriously.

And if you've stored up 5 years of angst over my posts, then again, you're spending way too much emotional energy on this.

WP, i don't care if you roast me or if you apologize thereafter. Your nothing to me but a fake name in cyberspace. And that is how you should view me, for your own peace of mind.

its pretty much the only thing i remember from Torts... or much else from law school, for that matter.

it stuck with me because i just found it so funny, in a profound kind of way.

"The thing speaks for itself"... indeed.
