Congratulations, and a big frosty mug of Schaefer beer, to June's player of the month: DAVID WRIGHT.

This is David's second time winning the Player of the Month award. (He also won in August of 2005. And, of course, he won the overall Player of the Year award for 2005, but you already knew that.) We have a first-time winner in the Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month sweepstakes. It's current Norfolk Tide Alay Soler. Soler breaks the stranglehold that Tom Glavine and Pedro Martinez have had on this title. Soler ended June poorly, but no other pitchers were able to overtake him for the lead, although Orlando Hernandez came pretty close.

Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran also fared well in June, finishing in second and third place, respectively.

Pretty shocking win for Soler -- but I guess it mostly speaks for the un-star-worthy June that the rest of the staff turned in.
Our system my skew against pitching to begin with but the fact that the top 4 vote-getters plus 6 of the top 9 were hitters this month probably is right on track here.
