S--t! Zambrano's pitching, we'll never win. Wait Glavine's pitching too. Two Mets pitchers pitching the same night!!! And we still can't win.

SC=ludicrous

EEE: Gary reminds us that Zambrano held the Mets hitless through five his last go against them, then we jumped oon him in the sixth after he ran the bases.

I was at the Sunday game with an uncle who said Pelfrey was pitching a perfect game in the 2nd. He proceeded to lose the perfecto, no hitter and shutout, and eventually the game.

I told my uncle that the Met loss was on HIS HEAD!

Dang.

Be better, Mets.

Edgy DC
Jul 25 2006 08:37 PM

This thread is dead!

Reyes gets an opposite-field single. Good sign.

Edgy DC
Jul 25 2006 08:39 PM

Lo Duca follows with an opposite-fielder of his own. First and third.

Hows this for numbers? Fifty-seven starts (I think) for Zambrano, with two stolen bases yielded, and 12 thieves caught.

Mets have a chance to break this game open.....runners on the corners with no outs, Beltran at bat....come on carlos you can win over the fans with a big hit....

Edgy DC
Jul 25 2006 08:42 PM

Delgado is slow. A double play turned on him with all. due. deliberation.

Edgy DC
Jul 25 2006 08:50 PM

Ten in a row for Glavine. Goodish.

He's likely cooked at 101 pitches through six. Not so good.

He's only allowed three earned runs. Goodish.

The three unearned runs were largely a result of his fielding error. Not so good.

He actually made a swift play there, and, while his throw was high, Delgado could've helped him out by having his other foot on the bag. Good-bad. I dunno.

Ambiguous day for Glavine.

David Wright with a near miss.

He worked the at bat but pops out.
Dagnabbitt.

I think Howry was in there cuz Dempster has twice as many walks in the same amount of innings pitched.

I gotta question the use of Mr Franco there--the odds of getting a long ball (homer or double) out of him are much less than that with the X-Man.

And bringin in Howry was a good move there (in retrospect, of course).

Outmanaged by Dusty Baker----.

Clearly you forget a certain call-up in late September '03.

(In fairness, I'd rather forget anything Mets-related from that summer too.

Gwreck
Jul 25 2006 10:39 PM

Terrible game from everyone except Endy (Heilman, Wagner, Beltran were ok).

LoDuca is the slowest man alive (the grounder deep up the middle). At least he looked like he was hustling. I got the distinct feeling that Cliff Floyd wasn't running nearly as hard as he could in the OF tonight.

I seriously doubt Willie ever had any intention of letting Glavine finish the 7th inning -- he was at 100 pitches -- he has been tiring lately -- and he should have been f-ing pulled and never allowed to pitch that inning. Aargh.

I know he had retired the last 10 batters and the pitcher was due up, but it was painfully obvious from my seat in the Mezzanine that he needed to go the the 'pen right there and not try to get an extra inning out of him. The 'pen was pretty rested and there's an off day on Thursday.

Bad, bad game.

Stupidity in the Mets having Victor Zambrano, Mike Maddux and Kaz Matsui on their roster?

Yes I realize there was no shot ever of landing Carlos, Greg or Hideki at any point, but the point was poking fun at the regimes that made the Zambrano trade, the Maddux trade (to be fair Maddux wasn't overhyped or anything and we sure the heck weren't going after a front line starter at the time, Maddux was what he was, a spare part in the pen) and Matsui signing.

Part of the Mets habit of getting that player just as he hits his decline or when he's damaged goods, or in Matsui's case just plain overhyped and poorly evaluated
