New Job Process
Elster88 Jul 24 2006 10:57 AM |
Looking around. Three solid leads, including an interview Wednesday. Nervous.
ScarletKnight41 Jul 24 2006 10:59 AM |
Best of luck with the search!
Edgy DC Jul 24 2006 11:00 AM |
Also in the hunt. Let's apply for the same stuff.
Rockin' Doc Jul 24 2006 11:14 AM |
Best of luck on the job search.
MFS62 Jul 24 2006 11:16 AM |
That makes three of us in the hunt.
seawolf17 Jul 24 2006 11:16 AM |
We should all go get jobs with Cooby.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 24 2006 11:53 AM |
My company has put my division up for sale, could be joining allayall soon. Let's blow off corporate USA and get jobs that pay well and give us 5-7 days off a week.
Edgy DC Jul 24 2006 11:56 AM |
Anybody want to start a new Mets Media Enterprise? I'm all for it.
Elster88 Jul 24 2006 12:42 PM |
If you apply for the same job as me, I'm going to make up anything I can, like telling the company that you spend all your working hours on the Internet. "And how would know that, Mr. 88?"
metirish Jul 24 2006 12:44 PM |
Best wishes on the search.

I figured we'd avoid that unpleasantness, protected by the principle of mutally assured destruction.
Elster88 Jul 24 2006 12:54 PM |
Me too. j/k.
cooby Jul 24 2006 06:39 PM |
Not a good idea, cooby's not working, either. :) Elster, all the best in your job search and good luck on Wednesday; I'll be thinking of you. Widey, I hope it all works out for you too; I know you have been through all that once before and nobody deserves to go through it again...
Elster88 Jul 24 2006 06:47 PM |
Thanks for the kind words all.
SteveJRogers Jul 24 2006 08:44 PM |
Good luck all, just don't end up at Dunder Miffin!
seawolf17 Jul 25 2006 06:27 AM |
I don't know; Pam's kinda hot.
HahnSolo Jul 25 2006 08:13 AM |
Good luck! I'm just starting here, but I know well the anxiety that goes with the job hunt.

Edgy and MFS62, spurned by Mrs. Payson.
cooby Jul 25 2006 08:27 AM |
You two are just thinking of changing jobs. Elster and Widey are more urgent
Edgy DC Jul 25 2006 08:29 AM |
Well, it's getting pretty urgent for me, but sure.
cooby Jul 25 2006 08:31 AM |
You've never had your wisdom teeth extracted before have you? You're gonna be in la-la land, not online
Edgy DC Jul 25 2006 08:33 AM |
Yeah, I mean now. Very anxious.
cooby Jul 25 2006 08:35 AM |
Piece a cake. Your driver will have the worse job, getting you into the car afterwards.
Edgy DC Jul 25 2006 08:41 AM |
Jeeves is a pro.

cooby Jul 25 2006 08:45 AM |
Johnny Dickshot Jul 25 2006 08:47 AM |
I'm not urgent. Despite goofing off all day long, I'm probably safer in a transfer than many of my co-workers, since I'm not a boss, not a rookie, and serve a role that is relatively high-profile and difficult for just any dummy to fill.
cooby Jul 25 2006 10:41 AM |
Edgy, you'll do fine Thursday. You'll be treated like a prince at the dentist's office, I promise
Elster88 Jul 26 2006 12:00 PM |
Now I haven't done this in a while, but I think it's a good sign when the 45-minute interview closes with "It was great talking to you, I'm looking forward to getting you on campus. We'll schedule a second interview as soon as possible."
ScarletKnight41 Jul 26 2006 12:08 PM |
That's a good sign by any standard :)
Elster88 Jul 26 2006 12:12 PM |
:-) I'm doing way to much patting of my own back and tooting of my own horn, but it felt great. First interview in a while and blasting it out of the park. From my previous experience you have to wait for a call-back before finding out one way or the other if you're going to get a second interview.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 26 2006 03:12 PM |
If they send you a mix tape, it's completely in the bag.
MFS62 Jul 27 2006 07:18 AM |
Hint.
cooby Jul 27 2006 09:30 AM |
Good job, Elster!
ScarletKnight41 Jul 27 2006 09:31 AM |
Good luck cooby!

This could be happening. I'm nervous as...how did Pearlman put it....a cat in a wave pool.

Meanwhile, while I was just taking a shower, Woolrich just called and offered me my old job back (they don't do that for many people) What should I do? I really don't want to go back there (towards the end it was practically unbearable and Christmas is awful) , but I HAVE to get something soon.
Edgy DC Aug 03 2006 02:18 PM |
1) Absolutely.
cooby Aug 03 2006 02:23 PM |
No because I can't control who they send catalogs to and last year included way too many people who I felt like I had to remind them to breathe. I hated it. The first year wasn't like that at all. The trouble is, there have been NO jobs listed lately that I would be able to apply for unless they are too far away for me to drive at $3.00 gallon. And I never heard back from last week's perfect job interview :( Plus, I wasn't making enough money there. Though I suppose what I was making is more than I am making now, which is none.

Must be something in the CPF Kool-Aid... I have an interview on Tuesday.
Edgy DC Aug 04 2006 08:14 AM |
Well then pass me the Kool-Aid. The muddafroggin' NFL Players Association never called me back.
seawolf17 Aug 04 2006 08:15 AM |
Maybe because you're not a player. (But are you a playa? That might help.) Call back and say you're Al Toon.
Benjamin Grimm Aug 04 2006 08:25 AM |
"I'm sorry. I seem to have made a mistake on my resume and I wanted to point it out to you. I'm not actually Edgy DC. I'm Al Toon!"

seawolf17 Aug 04 2006 11:08 AM |
Yay Elster! I'm assuming from your earlier posts that this is some sort of college/university gig. Welcome to the club.

I think I already applied for that job. I am local you know.
cooby Sep 28 2006 10:37 AM |

When I was at Emery Air Freight, it was purchased by Consolidated Freightways. Our VP attended the first meeting with them after the sale. When we asked him how they seemed, all he could say was "truckers in suits". Later
cooby Nov 02 2006 09:33 AM |
Good luck, Johnny.

MFS62 Nov 02 2006 09:59 AM |

And good luck to holychicken who mentioned in the song parody thread that he's looking for a job, too. Later

Johnny Dickshot Nov 02 2006 10:15 AM |
Early indications are I've survived (in fact, I'm wasting my new employers' time and money, and not my old one's, as I type). Not everyone on my floor did.
cooby Nov 02 2006 10:16 AM |
That is good news :)
MFS62 Nov 02 2006 10:21 AM |

Good news. Be happy. But update your resume. Later

metirish Nov 02 2006 06:09 PM |
How was the meeting Dickshot?
Johnny Dickshot Nov 03 2006 07:38 AM |
Sounds like a pretty good deal, and if I ever become ambitious, might provide some opportunities I couldn't get in the current set-up without the death or retirement of a few co-workers, so s'all good.
MFS62 Nov 03 2006 08:58 AM |
Are you trying to let us in on the real reason you got that haircut? Johnny, we hardly knew ya'. :) Later
