...and then second,...and then running by the plate. Mets have scored 4 runs on some timely hitting and shoddy play by the Fish. They already have 2 errors that cost them 2 runs. Mets up, 4-0. Trachsel with a nice lil cusion as he takes the mound.

Castro and Franco kind of look out of place with those professional, Met Yearbook photos Ah well...

Gotta love when your pitcher gets an AB before he throws his first pitch.

I love it when an avatar goes from some guy who seemed to have no clue to a hotty. Marlins threaten, as Ramirez singles-steals and.... is stranded on third. Nice 1st inning by Trachsel.
Zvon Aug 02 2006 07:43 PM |
Reyes and LoDuca start off the second with back to back singles.

I'm getting the broadcast from Florida. There was a commercial for Marlins ticket packages. They don't say that going to Marlins games is "fun" or "exciting" or anything like that. They stress that it's "convenient."
duan Aug 02 2006 07:52 PM |
you getting that on mlb.tv ? i keep getting "playlist format not recognised"
Zvon Aug 02 2006 07:53 PM |
Another error by the Marlins.

Whats the station? I used to get alot of games thru "The Game Live" website but more and more thats not working for some reason. I gave up trying weeks ago and I just read the game on Sportsline. Id love to hear the game.

Nolasco is pulled for a pinch hitter?
Zvon Aug 02 2006 08:07 PM |
Chavez works Pinto for 8 pitches and reaches on a single.

Zvon Aug 02 2006 08:12 PM |
Another Marlins error--another run.
TransMonk Aug 02 2006 08:13 PM |
Jose Reyes grounds into a force out, third baseman Miguel Cabrera to second baseman Alfredo Amezaga. Endy Chavez scores. Steve Trachsel out at 2nd. Jose Reyes advances to 1st, on throwing error by second baseman Alfredo Amezaga.

I'm watching on television with my MLB Extra Innings package. It's on Sports South, or something like that.
seawolf17 Aug 02 2006 08:34 PM |
I really enjoy SNY. I know that's small consolation to those of you not in the viewing area, but Gary, Keith, and Ron (who is off tonight) have really done a nice job this year. I just love Gary; he's just a bald guy with a great voice, which gives me inspiration that I, too, can acquire my dream job someday.

Thnx-.. Trachsel looks good thru 4, only allowing a run on a Cabrera RBI single. Around the league: In St Lou: Chase Utley is 0 for 2 so far in his bid to keep his hitting streak alive.

"Trying to keep cool with the air conditioning"?? You turn on the A/C, it's cool. Go outside, it's not. Easy!

Cool as the other side of the pillow

I wish i could get it down here. In a way Im okay with it- cuz when the Mets are on TV I gotta watch and I would watch em all, and enjoy it....... but hardly ever leave the house. lol.

Gwreck Aug 02 2006 09:00 PM |
Gee, Willie, do you think it's time to get somebody up?
Gwreck Aug 02 2006 09:05 PM |
With Roberto Hernandez in the game, he becomes the first two-separate-stints-with-the-Mets player since...Roger Cedeno?
SteveJRogers Aug 02 2006 09:06 PM |
Welcome back Bert, now get one out!
Zvon Aug 02 2006 09:06 PM |
Maybe he wants to ensure it ends up a save situation. *Z pulls out a tuft of hair* Trax gives back 2, allowing solo shots to Ramirez and Cabrera. His P.C. up to 93 and I have to assume this pause in the reading action means Willies goin to get him.

SteveJRogers Aug 02 2006 09:07 PM |

For some reason I think Fortunado went somewhere in between stints
Zvon Aug 02 2006 09:08 PM |
Reads as a one pitch out by Berto.
Gwreck Aug 02 2006 09:09 PM |
Nope, he was Mets property interrupted since he came over with Victor Z.
SteveJRogers Aug 02 2006 09:10 PM |
Did Hernandez get his chance to catch yet? For some reason I thought I heard he did
Gwreck Aug 02 2006 09:11 PM |
I'm sure he didn't want it to be, but now that it is, I'd like to see Wagner come in and get a save to get right back on the horse, etc etc.

Not in the major leagues. The career fielding stats are easily found on MLB.com or ESPN...

Who else had bad flashbacks when they saw Endy diving in from off-screen after that ball?

Im with ya. Fortunately Mr Herandez strikes out Olivo. Unfortunatley the third strike is also a wild pitch, and Olivo reaches. Helms follows with a single to center-Olivo to 2nd. Amezega works Mr H for a 6 pitch at bat, and flies out to center- Oliva moves to third on the sac. 2 out. Come on Berto- shut the door--we traded for last years model. He wont get the chance-Feliciano on to face ex-Met Jacobs.
Zvon Aug 02 2006 09:30 PM |
Uggla pinch hits for Jacobs.
Zvon Aug 02 2006 09:33 PM |

Maybe they need a Captain...
Zvon Aug 02 2006 09:49 PM |
S.I. kinda appointed LoDuca as team Captain. Captain Red Ass. But I guess that really doesnt count unless your team mates do it. Valentin --no brew for you-- gets picked off 1st after drawing a walk. Dag.
Willets Point Aug 02 2006 09:51 PM |
Soupcan is the one and only captain.
Zvon Aug 02 2006 09:53 PM |

There ya go. Mr Franco pinch hits a single, but Reyes leaves him there to get older as he fans.

I was referring to the Captain in that incruseatingly long "I'm your Captain, I'm your Captain..." song The one that rambles "I'm getting closer to my home" for about 20 minutes
Zvon Aug 02 2006 10:03 PM |
Good song, IMO. Thall be the in game thread quiz of the night- Who does this song?
SteveJRogers Aug 02 2006 10:04 PM |
Of course it was by Grand Funk Railroad...
Zvon Aug 02 2006 10:08 PM |
DING! (actually I dont recall, lol.) Bases juiced, no outs in the 9th for Wright.
Willets Point Aug 02 2006 10:10 PM |
Ah, insurance runs would be nice. Although we don't really need them cuz with a 1-run lead we can count on Wagner to come in to shut the door.
Willets Point Aug 02 2006 10:14 PM |
Floyd ejected? Whoa!
Frayed Knot Aug 02 2006 10:14 PM |
Home Plate ump doing us no favors tonight: re Cliff & Bradford
Gwreck Aug 02 2006 10:14 PM |
Mets player ejection #3 this year (?). LoDuca with Angel Hernandez, and Duaner Sanchez once.
Zvon Aug 02 2006 10:17 PM |
Hard to believe we didnt get that insurance. *Z pulls out another tuft of hair. I am of the sentiment to run him right back out there is a good thing. He is our closer, lock stock and barrel. But still......................
Willets Point Aug 02 2006 10:20 PM |
Bases loaded with no outs leading to no runs is totally 2003 Mets.
Willets Point Aug 02 2006 10:22 PM |
Uh-oh.
Zvon Aug 02 2006 10:23 PM |
A single and a freakin hit by pitch....
Zvon Aug 02 2006 10:26 PM |
The Marlins pinch run for both helms and Moehler.
Frayed Knot Aug 02 2006 10:27 PM |
Thank you Joe Girardi (for leaving the bunt on w/2 strikes)
Zvon Aug 02 2006 10:27 PM |
THATS what we need Billy---BIG K of Ramirez for out number 1.

Yeah, that was the Hanley Ramirez K Now Girardi is pinch-running for the pinch-runner?!?!??

Edgy DC Aug 02 2006 10:38 PM |
Delgado being on base all day was pretty cool.
Frayed Knot Aug 02 2006 10:42 PM |
Wright's left a small village on base the last coupla days.
Edgy DC Aug 02 2006 10:42 PM |

Is that a word?
Frayed Knot Aug 02 2006 10:43 PM |
Sounds perfectly cromulent to me.

Just saw ESPNs highlights of the game on Sportcenter--and all they showed were clips from Wagners ninth.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 03 2006 12:31 AM |
I was scoreboard watching this one in St. Louis, with supplemental updates from my Sidekick (and the first inning recap courtesy of Iubitul - thanks!). Frustrating as heck, but at least the Mets won.

Technically, he wasn't the opposing pitcher. He was the opposing batter, a pinch-hitter whose day job is as a pitcher.
seawolf17 Aug 03 2006 10:56 AM |
So you had a pitcher pinch-hitting for the pitcher, who got hit with a pitch, so he was replaced by a pitcher serving as a pinch-runner, who got replaced by another pitcher serving as a pinch-runner for the pinch-runner for the pitcher who was pinch-hitting but got hit by the pitch.
Yancy Street Gang Aug 03 2006 11:02 AM |
That was overmanaging to a degree that I've never seen it.
seawolf17 Aug 03 2006 11:04 AM |
My wife was stunned the other night when they mentioned that Pelfrey and Olson were born two days apart in 1984. "1984?! God, we're old."

By the way Seawolf, that is an all-time great avatar.
Elster88 Aug 03 2006 11:12 AM |
I like it too, though I don't understand the connection.
Vic Sage Aug 03 2006 11:18 AM |
I just LOVE IT when the opposing manager not only takes the bat out of a hot hitter's hands by asking him to bunt, he then forces him to bunt with TWO STRIKES after already showing 2 badly executed bunt attempts!
