Mets already on the board--ANOTHER 1st inning run.

Reyes singles-steals second-
the hot hitting LoDuca drives him in with a single.

Bases are now loaded for David Wright-
no outs.

Seems like I always turn the game on just a little late and I miss Reyes'
first AB and he's standing on first.

...and then second,...and then running by the plate.

Mets have scored 4 runs on some timely hitting and shoddy play by the Fish.
They already have 2 errors that cost them 2 runs.

Mets up, 4-0.

Trachsel with a nice lil cusion as he takes the mound.

Gotta love when your pitcher gets an AB before he throws his first pitch.

I love it when an avatar goes from some guy who seemed to have no clue to a hotty.

Marlins threaten, as Ramirez singles-steals and....
is stranded on third.

Nice 1st inning by Trachsel.

Zvon
Aug 02 2006 07:43 PM

Reyes and LoDuca start off the second with back to back singles.
Boy- those two are hot.

Nolasco is a good pitcher but he always gets all shook up facing the Mets.

Beltan reaches on a bunt single.
We got ducks on the pond people.

Again.

I'm getting the broadcast from Florida. There was a commercial for Marlins ticket packages. They don't say that going to Marlins games is "fun" or "exciting" or anything like that. They stress that it's "convenient."

No wonder the stands look so empty.

duan
Aug 02 2006 07:52 PM

you getting that on mlb.tv ? i keep getting "playlist format not recognised"

Zvon
Aug 02 2006 07:53 PM

Another error by the Marlins.

But the Mets 5th run is an earned one, a sac fly by Delgado.
Again, its Reyes that scores.

Whats the station?
I used to get alot of games thru "The Game Live" website but more and more thats not working for some reason.
I gave up trying weeks ago and I just read the game on Sportsline.

Id love to hear the game.

Nolasco is pulled for a pinch hitter?

In the 2nd?

Yikes!
Another blow to my BB fantasy life.

Zvon
Aug 02 2006 08:07 PM

Chavez works Pinto for 8 pitches and reaches on a single.
Great at-bat.

Pinto wild pitches him to second.

Lets line up these Florida pitchers and go thru em all.
Pinto WALKS Trax--
ha.

Zvon
Aug 02 2006 08:12 PM

Another Marlins error--another run.
If anyone can color in what happened there please do.

6-0 Mets.

Jose Reyes grounds into a force out, third baseman Miguel Cabrera to second baseman Alfredo Amezaga. Endy Chavez scores. Steve Trachsel out at 2nd. Jose Reyes advances to 1st, on throwing error by second baseman Alfredo Amezaga.

Zvon
Aug 02 2006 08:24 PM

Thanx-
This is how Sportline writes it up:

Reyes reached on fielder's choice to third, Chavez to third, Trachsel out at second, Chavez scored on Amezaga's throwing error.
____
So the error was on the throw to first.

Reading the game leaves alot to be desired.

Florida is trying to give us this one.
Im not complaining.

I really enjoy SNY. I know that's small consolation to those of you not in the viewing area, but Gary, Keith, and Ron (who is off tonight) have really done a nice job this year. I just love Gary; he's just a bald guy with a great voice, which gives me inspiration that I, too, can acquire my dream job someday.

Trachsel looks good thru 4, only allowing a run on a Cabrera RBI single.

Around the league:
In St Lou: Chase Utley is 0 for 2 so far in his bid to keep his hitting streak alive.

Maybe he wants to ensure it ends up a save situation.

Trax gives back 2, allowing solo shots to Ramirez and Cabrera.
His P.C. up to 93 and I have to assume this pause in the reading action means Willies goin to get him.

Im with ya.

Fortunately Mr Herandez strikes out Olivo.
Unfortunatley the third strike is also a wild pitch, and Olivo reaches.

Helms follows with a single to center-Olivo to 2nd.

Amezega works Mr H for a 6 pitch at bat, and flies out to center- Oliva moves to third on the sac.

2 out.
Come on Berto-
shut the door--we traded for last years model.

He wont get the chance-Feliciano on to face ex-Met Jacobs.

Zvon
Aug 02 2006 09:30 PM

Uggla pinch hits for Jacobs.

Feleece walks him.
Guess he'd rather face Cabrera.

UGH.

I was referring to the Captain in that incruseatingly long "I'm your Captain, I'm your Captain..." song

The one that rambles "I'm getting closer to my home" for about 20 minutes

Wright's left a small village on base the last coupla days.

Technically, he wasn't the opposing pitcher. He was the opposing batter, a pinch-hitter whose day job is as a pitcher.

seawolf17
Aug 03 2006 10:56 AM

So you had a pitcher pinch-hitting for the pitcher, who got hit with a pitch, so he was replaced by a pitcher serving as a pinch-runner, who got replaced by another pitcher serving as a pinch-runner for the pinch-runner for the pitcher who was pinch-hitting but got hit by the pitch.

Cool.

That was overmanaging to a degree that I've never seen it.

Last night's game, by the way, made me really feel old. I've seen players that looked young to me, but last night Joe Girardi, the Marlins' manager, looked young to me.

Sheesh! Before I know it, the President of the United States will look young to me.

I just LOVE IT when the opposing manager not only takes the bat out of a hot hitter's hands by asking him to bunt, he then forces him to bunt with TWO STRIKES after already showing 2 badly executed bunt attempts!

What a gift. Thanks, Joe! And here i didn't get you anything... i'm so embarrassed.

That K turned the inning around for Wags and lead to a Mets victory.

BIFL!!!
