Hoping for a good day out of Tommy G.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 01:35 PM |
Ugh.
cleonjones11 Aug 05 2006 01:38 PM |
Mets are folding like a cheap tent. Glavine needs a turn off...bad..If they dont make the playoffs........
Zvon Aug 05 2006 01:38 PM |
That darn Howard.
cleonjones11 Aug 05 2006 01:39 PM |
St. Louis-MFY World series..I see it coming

Some one should tell Jose - first pitch double...
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 01:41 PM |
That lineup looks weak to me. But I still haven't been trained to think that Valentin is good.

Reyes with a lead off double gets things started.
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 01:41 PM |
Bloop hit to right for Milledge.
Iubitul Aug 05 2006 01:42 PM |
well, that was a quick answer - 3-1...
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 01:42 PM |
A drive down the left field line that bounced out of play in the corner for a ground rule double.
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 01:43 PM |
Another bloop hit, this one for Beltran, off the glove of the second baseman as he ran to his left.
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 01:47 PM |
Nice play from Nunez saving a double down the line throws out Wright.
Iubitul Aug 05 2006 01:48 PM |
Endy Chavez in for Floyd - it looks like Floyd got hurt on that play down the line...
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 01:48 PM |
Chavez in for Floyd. Damn I'm glad we still have Nady.
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 01:49 PM |
I'm officially putting the fragile tag back on Floyd, in my own mind. He didn't even do anything on that play.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 01:50 PM |
I like the quick answering back--but we really should get more than one out of this. oh carp--what a play by Phils 3rd baseman Nunez off of Wright. Floyd must have hurt himself on that play in the corner...Chavez in for him. He pops out. And we only do get 1 Ill take it- 3-1 Phools

DiFelice coming out to "Burning Heart" by Survivor, available on the Rocky IV soundtrack.
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 02:09 PM |
Looks like Schaefer 6 is giving his all to give the Mets their best chance to win this game.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 02:10 PM |
Rowand stranded at second after his one out double. Glavine gets Rollins and then Howard to fly out.
metirish Aug 05 2006 02:14 PM |
Just in case you didn't know but the Colts will be playing the Rams thursday night on FOX........
Zvon Aug 05 2006 02:29 PM |
Wrights inches away from snappin out of that funk.
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 02:42 PM |
That's a disturbing photoshop.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 02:42 PM |
The Mets hitters are making Lieber look like Steve Carlton. He's John Freakin' Lieber!!! The league is hitting over .300 against him this season and his ERA is over 6. Wake up and pound this pretender.
metirish Aug 05 2006 02:43 PM |
Have we had a hit since the first inning?
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 02:44 PM |
Yea, but we Glavine on the mound. He's so good he doesn't need run support.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 02:50 PM |
I dont deny it. Ugh-- Lastings with a nice diving effort but the ball wiggles out of his glove for a hit. He really should have gotten Howard for the force at second, but he hurls the ball in like a madman and Reyes has to make his own dive to stop it, far wide of second base. Glavine gets Coste to ground into the DP, 6-4-3. Top of the order.
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 02:52 PM |
Today's mojo-shifting rally song provided by the Divinyls:
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 02:56 PM |
Well, it's a baserunner at least.
metirish Aug 05 2006 02:56 PM |
Rally song works as Mets get runners on the corners.
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 02:56 PM |
And a hit!

...and another.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 02:57 PM |
Woo hoo, we have a base runner. Now we need Delgado to put a charge in one and it's a whole new ballgame.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 02:58 PM |
Well, not quite what I was hoping for, but I'll take it.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 02:58 PM |
HaHa--Wrights pop up drops in!
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 02:59 PM |
Rockin' Doc is even further behind than I am.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 02:59 PM |
Chavez with a 2 RBI double!
Nymr83 Aug 05 2006 02:59 PM |
Chavez says: Xavier who?
metirish Aug 05 2006 03:00 PM |
Mets take a 4 to 3 lead on a two run double by Chavez, this might be the first time I have seen a rally song work right away....good job Willets.
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 03:00 PM |
Yay! Must be a super-bright sun blessing its rays on Flushing today.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 03:00 PM |
I think that photo was taken right after he was told about the trade for Piazza.

You know what this means, don't you? 55,000 fans dancing to "I Touch Myself" at Shea. The mere thought of it is awesinine!
metirish Aug 05 2006 03:05 PM |
Burrell is a pretty bad outfielder, looked horrible twice in that inning.
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 03:07 PM |
I like baseball.
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 03:08 PM |
Nice 1-2-3 inning for Glavine! SC=0

Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 03:12 PM |
Someone please remind me again why Marrero is on the 25 man roster.
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 03:13 PM |
Lieber matches Glavine in EZ 7th inning performance.
TransMonk Aug 05 2006 03:13 PM |
Even nicer 1-2-3 inning by Lieber. 5 pitches even with the K.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 03:14 PM |
....cuz he can catch in a pinch? Cuz he didnt hit in a pinch.
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 03:15 PM |
Has Willie ever heard the word "overuse"? IIRC, he abused Bert last year.
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 03:16 PM |
So weenie-whiny fans would forget about Kaz.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 03:17 PM |
Abused him well though. With Heilman-not so much. Heilmans ball is showing major movement there on Victorino. Almost too much, lol.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 03:17 PM |
One down as Victorino Ks.
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 03:20 PM |
Way to go Aaron!
metirish Aug 05 2006 03:20 PM |
Heilman gets a 1-2-3 inning, nice.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 03:21 PM |
Very nice inning by heilman.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 03:21 PM |
Nice 1-2-3 inning for Heilman.

TransMonk Aug 05 2006 03:21 PM |
Heilman up to the task.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 03:22 PM |
Now lets go get some more.
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 03:24 PM |
The Philadelphia outfield doesn't let that one drop.
Willets Point Aug 05 2006 03:25 PM |

Willets Point Aug 05 2006 03:26 PM |
Or not. Pleeeeeeeeeeze Wagner Pleeeeeeeeeze!
Zvon Aug 05 2006 03:26 PM |
Beltraan JUST misses one- gets a lil under it.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 03:27 PM |
I love how Gamecast shows the ground out by Delgado as being to shallow rightfield. Damn shift.
metirish Aug 05 2006 03:28 PM |
Howard gets a hit....Wagner
Zvon Aug 05 2006 03:29 PM |

Willets Point Aug 05 2006 03:29 PM |
Fangul!
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 03:30 PM |
No need to swing the bat, Pat. Just keep looking.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 03:31 PM |

Willets Point Aug 05 2006 03:31 PM |

metirish Aug 05 2006 03:39 PM |
Glavine with career win 287....
Frayed Knot Aug 05 2006 03:40 PM |
IIRC, that's the 2nd time Wright's glove has bailed Wagner's ass out after costing him one early in the season.
Frayed Knot Aug 05 2006 03:41 PM |
This just in: Ken Rosenthal is short.
metirish Aug 05 2006 03:41 PM |
I love how Delgado pumps his fist after the catch from Wright to end the game, 3 good plays in the field today for him.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 03:42 PM |
Wow--watching that replay. What a great play--that ball was by him. He saves the save for Wagner. Saves the win for Glavine. That was HUGE.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 03:44 PM |
....and that other one turned into a double play. Factor that.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 05 2006 03:45 PM |
I love that boy :) Thanks for the description and account of the play :)
Elster88 Aug 05 2006 03:52 PM |

Willie on the postgame: Cliff just cramped up a little bit and should be okay for tomorrow.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 04:39 PM |
That's good news. I think Cliffie should start hitting balls in the stands more often so he can cut down on his running.
Zvon Aug 05 2006 05:22 PM |
Cramped up? He wasnt even running full steam- He was joggin over there. I thought he hurt his rib cage smackin the sidewall, but it looked like most of the impact went to his thigh, as he leaped a lil while hitting it. Well, as long as he's back for tomorrow......whatever.
metirish Aug 05 2006 05:28 PM |
I really don't know what to think about Milledge.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 05:37 PM |
ESPN reported that Cliff felt tightness in his left Achilles tendon. They stated it had bothered him on July 30th and caused him to be held out of that game.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 05:39 PM |
metirish - "I really don't know what to think about Milledge.
sharpie Aug 05 2006 07:23 PM |
Lenny and I went to the game today and broke each of our 7-game losing streaks stretching back to '04. Once a season we get great seats from mrs. sharpie's work and today was the day. Great game to be at.
Yancy Street Gang Aug 05 2006 08:21 PM |
It's rare to see a complete game loss anymore, but Leiber had one today.
Rockin' Doc Aug 05 2006 10:02 PM |
It's rare to see a complete game anymore.
Edgy DC Aug 05 2006 11:21 PM |
Mets getting no walks is nettlesome.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 05 2006 11:38 PM |
We haven't a game since Monday where we haven't cried out for Duaner AND Xavier. It's as if their heads collided both diving for the same ball at the same time.
Edgy DC Aug 05 2006 11:54 PM |
How do you see the bullpen shaking out right now?
Johnny Dickshot Aug 06 2006 12:14 AM |
Yeah, I think you got the basic idea: Give the 8th innings to Heilman until the lead shrinks to single digits or he gets better, or he gets killed.
Yancy Street Gang Aug 06 2006 07:13 AM |
Ring hasn't appeared yet. I'd like him to get some innings soon so that we can get an idea of how he'll fit into the equation.
Edgy DC Aug 06 2006 08:29 AM |
Pedro Feliciano has shown some acceptably even splits
