Lunch-Time I-G-T ... 8/10

Frayed Knot
Aug 10 2006 12:16 PM

It's the 5th anniversary Mets On-line picnic game
The actual date was yesterday, but this serves at the anniversary seeing as how it's the Thursday Noon start ... just minus about 25 degrees

It's sub-day lineup:

OF of Chavez in C, Tucker in LF, Ledee in RF

Neither Piazza nor Cameron in the SD lineup

OlerudOwned
Aug 10 2006 12:18 PM

Tucker, Ledee, and DiFelice.

There's live baseball on at 9 in the morning. I haven't even had coffee yet.

TransMonk

Pads already up 2-0 on a Gonzalez HR.

Walks kill.

sharpie
Aug 10 2006 12:22 PM

Homers kill even more than walks.

OlerudOwned
Aug 10 2006 12:22 PM

That Gonzalez trade was great for San Diego. Their pen has been fine without Otsuka, while Young and Gonzalez have been two of their best players.

SteveJRogers
Aug 10 2006 12:23 PM

FK, ya should edit the title for consistancy sake

Lineups

Padres
Dave Roberts LF
Todd Walker 3B
Brian Giles RF
Adrian Gonzalez 1B
Josh Bard C
Geoff Blum SS
Josh Barfield 2B
Ben Johnson CF
Chris Young P

Mets
Reyes SS
Chavez CF
Wright 3B
Delgado 1B
Valentin 2B
Ledee RF
DiFelice C
Hernandez SP

2-0 Top of First, Gonzalez homers to drive in Walker

Grrrr.... 2 outs now

SteveJRogers
Aug 10 2006 12:25 PM

I find it funny that usually when trades happen MLB.com's photoshoppers are right on top of changing caps, but for some reason DiFelice and Tucker are still pictured in National gear!

Easy Soupy, I got snapped at for the same thing earlier this year

C'mon Tucker, do something.

Frayed Knot
Aug 10 2006 12:36 PM

Bottom 1:

Reyes - bunt out
Chavez - infield single, then steal
Wright - walk
* double steal
Delgado - K swigning
Valentin - walk loading the bases

So now Michael Tucker gets an AB which will decide whether Met fans love or hate him for the remainder of his career

TransMonk
Aug 10 2006 12:36 PM

Tucker up with the sacks juiced in the first.

Prove your worth, Michael.

OlerudOwned
Aug 10 2006 12:39 PM

Michael Tucker flies out as I realize that he has a Hitler moustache.

SteveJRogers
Aug 10 2006 12:39 PM

So much for that, anyone get a uni number on Ledee and Tucker? They are both listed as 9 on MLB.com!

TransMonk

Piece of crap Michael Tucker...

OlerudOwned
Aug 10 2006 12:47 PM

Ledee with a hit. Cool.

OlerudOwned
Aug 10 2006 12:50 PM

Ledee and DiFelice are on to start the inning. Juggernaut.

When a preceding walk doubles the value of a homer, it's a wash.

ESPN has Ledee with 9 and Tucker with 22.

We have a 22. The Mets are again free to win a World Series.

Where did the three runs come from? This is why IGT's need some PBP.

Edgy DC
Aug 10 2006 01:09 PM

Jose Reyes hit a two-run triple and scored on a fly by Endy.

Today is David Wright's 2006 debut in the three-hole.

What a dilemma. Chris Young is mine

Elster88
Aug 10 2006 01:10 PM

I guess playing in the Met outfield automatically means you become a good thrower-outter of runners.

MFS62
Aug 10 2006 01:10 PM

Reyes drove in two with a three bagger. Chavez scored him with a sac fly. Yahoo sports gives you a pretty good pbp.

El Ducky mowin em down since the 1st

TransMonk
Aug 10 2006 01:41 PM

A walk and a HR hurt him in the first. But just a single since...and that was wiped out by an outfield assist.

Only 64 pitches through 5.

And it's even a Game Three against a division leader.

Who is the Orlando Hernandez character? I don't recognize him.

Frayed Knot
Aug 10 2006 02:04 PM

He's the one who just gave up 2 doubles to tie the game

TransMonk
Aug 10 2006 02:04 PM

Is that double doubles?

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 10 2006 02:10 PM

What do you say we score some gosh-darn runs, consarn it.

TransMonk

Chavez and Reyes on first and second...no outs.

Gotta get this done.

Of course so do they.

EDIT: Two run bingle for Jose.
6-3 Mets

MFS62
Aug 10 2006 02:32 PM

And J Franco, batting for ElDuque, GIDP to end the inning.
Just goes to show you what happens when you let a 47 yearold hit for a 60 year old.

The 2004 Red Sox postseason heros part of the Padres order get a walk followed by a strikeout.

MFS62
Aug 10 2006 02:50 PM

The announcers last night (?) said that it looks like Aaron has gone back to his fastball, rather then relying on his change for his out pitch. Those of you who can actually see the game, does it look like that is true today?

DW seems to have broken the spell of the All-Star break.

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 10 2006 03:17 PM

Fun fact: Until the 7th inning run today, the Mets had not allowed any runs EXCEPT those on HRs since Howard doubled in a run last Friday, 6 games ago.

In all, we gave up 13 runs on 8 HRs spread over 46 straight innings.

My wife was crushed when the Reds traded him. We'll always love "Big Eyes" Michael Tucker.
