"Pour Some Sugar On Me" vs. "Put Your Hand Inside the Puppet Head" Memo to myself. Do the dumb things I gotta do. Vote in the BLC They Might Be Giants. "Photograph" vs. "Don't Let's Start" They Might Be Giants for the mock-Jackson Five action. "Love Bites" vs. "Ana Ng" Well, I’m actually going to vote on the correct Leppard song here and not what I thought “Love Bites” was, but man, I don’t like that at all. Hysteria had four different producers passing through, and, though I cringe at the overproduction of this song, I think the producer was trying to save a bad song. They Might Be Giants. "Let's Get Rocked" vs. "They'll Need a Crane" I don’t like “They’ll Need” and I don’t know why it was a single. On their earlier albums, it would have been the 15th best song. That said, “Let’s Get Rocked” immediately struck me as a dumb unfunny gimmick aimed at dumb unfunny drunk dudes. They Might Giants is easily the lesser of two evils. "Animal" vs. "Birdhouse in Your Soul" The want/need/love escalation is a pretty played-out pop lyrical device. It probably was when Paul McCartney used it. They Might Be Giants. "Bringin' On the Heartbreak" vs. "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" Now here’s some Leppard I can sink my teeth into it. The production is as dumb and dirty as the concept --- the early AC/DC values the band would soon forsake. Def Leppard. "Foolin'" vs. "The Statue Got Me High" Slight edge to Def Leppard here. "Armageddon It" vs. "Experimental Film" “Armageddon It” has borrowed riffs from the early Leppard (which I guess makes sense, as this was their guitarist’s last hurrah), but it’s all riffs (and odious production) and there’s no song there. They Might Be Giants wins with Strongsad’s silly song. "Rock Of Ages" vs. "Particle Man" Um, tie. No, wait. Lock me in a room with just one of these songs playing all day and I’d go crazy sooner with the TMBG song. Def Leppard wins. "Promises" vs. "Dr. Worm" I don’t know either of these songs. “Promises” is an actual song, which is a surprise to me. Now that I listen to “Worm,” I’ve heard it. The lyric seems to be struggling to find an inspiration, but all the musical turns are great. Edge to They Might Be Giants. Its a 7-3 win for They Might Giants.

"I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm, an actual worm." You've got to love that. The thing with most TMBG songs is that I hate them the first 20 times I hear them and then I love them. It's hard to convert new fans with a band that requires so much work.

Edit: I listened to all 20 tracks side-by-side to see if I hated Def Leppard any less than I thought I did, and to compare one track to another as God and the BLC forefathers (and mothers) intended.
