The band was going to be called Metal Mania. While both were kind of dumb, the magazine and band switched names, and time has shown that they were just dumb enough to be perfect. Interesting Fact: Michael Jackson originally wanted "Bad" to be a duet between him and Prince. Prince liked the idea, and they tried to hammer it out, but ran into disagreements over lyrics and beats. In the end, Prince bailed, feeling that the eventual song wasn't dark enough. He walked away from a number one. 'Cuz he's Prince.

Greatly improved both songs. But alas, it was not meant to be. "Master Of Puppets" vs. "Purple Rain" 'Tallica "2x4" vs. "U Got the Look" 'Tallica - An underrated album cut from "Load" rounds out my list. Love the groove on this song. 9-1 Metallica. (Nice choice of Metallica logo, btw.) I'm not necessarily sold with Metallica entering this yet; but I couldn't cut down my list of Barenaked Ladies songs from 30 to ten, so I went with Metallica first.

"Fade To Black" vs. "1999" The guitar interplay on “Fade to Black” is nothing you don’t get on Purple Rain, and it’s not like it’s digging so deep in the intro that you have to stretch it out for 1:40. Prince and the Revolution. "Enter Sandman" vs. "Little Red Corvette" The abstract reference to used condoms freaks me out. Metallica.
