Mike Pelfrey did a credible job in what may have been his last start of the season for the Mets. He didn't pitch great, but he pitched six innings and left with the lead when he turned the game over to the bullpen. Chad Bradford and Aaron Heilman each slammed the door on the Marlins hitters in their respective inning of work. The Mets held a 5-4 lead going into the bottom of the ninth when Willie Randolph sent closer Billy Wagner in to seal the game. Unfortunately, Kaboom happened. In the blink of an eye the impending victory turned to a disappointing defeat.

Wagner's stats for the season are pretty amazing, but each time he stumbles it costs the Mets a game. I guess it's the nature of the job. Being a closer is an all or nothing type proposition, where you either do your job or you fail and cost your team the game. Tonight, Billy Wagner failed miserably.

Carlos Beltran remained sizzling hot with a double and a home run. Jose Reyes and Paul LoDuca pitched in to help spark the offense from the top of the order.

Hopefully, the team will bounce back and win tomorrow.

Tonight's game was sponsored by the Tommyknocker Brewery of Idaho Springs, Colorado. They sent over a large supply of their best beer. So down a few bottles of Butt Head Bock and go fillet the fish tomorrow.

Wagner will be serving tonight. So if you need a refill, just remember to yell, "I need a Butt Head over here." And Billy will be with you momentarily.

Zinedine Zidane should get an endorsement deal for Butt Head lager.
