There are no must win games in August but I'd hate to get swept.......when was the last time the Mets got swept in a four game series,I imagine it was in recent seasons.

Holy crap! Carlos Delgado got a hit!

So do I ,and that's why I don't bother posting anymore Kabooms.
soupcan Aug 17 2006 02:00 PM |
Had no idea Delgado was in 'Apocolypse Now'.
Zvon Aug 17 2006 02:06 PM |
Thanks guys, but really, the more kabooms the better.

Could the Carlos-monster be out of the cage?
Elster88 Aug 17 2006 02:23 PM |
I hope not. Let the monster out on September 30th.
Zvon Aug 17 2006 02:24 PM |
We need him to have his average season closing surge. So, I hope so.
seawolf17 Aug 17 2006 02:25 PM |
Who is this Carlos Delgado and what have you done with the .150-hitting monster we've grown to dislike?
Elster88 Aug 17 2006 02:27 PM |
I thought you were going to go with Gene Siskel for your Sisk avatar, seawolf.
Zvon Aug 17 2006 02:27 PM |
Everyone needs to be a monster then.... the Mets need to be a house of horrors to all other post season teams. And they can be that----we've seen it.
OlerudOwned Aug 17 2006 02:28 PM |
I like this Delgado.
MFS62 Aug 17 2006 02:29 PM |
David Wright is not having a nice day.
Elster88 Aug 17 2006 02:30 PM |
Wright: 0-3 with 3 Ks.
Zvon Aug 17 2006 02:31 PM |
Even tho Wright hasnt been totally dry, he looks lost up there at the plate.
Zvon Aug 17 2006 02:34 PM |
Vanentin is out and Woody is in for him at second.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 17 2006 02:36 PM |
Vamos Carlos AND the other one! Wow.
Zvon Aug 17 2006 02:38 PM |
Maine is quietly pitching a fine game.

It won't.

Thanks SK. I think the whole concept of the kaboom post makes the IGTs more interactive fun for the fans. Wright makes a GREAT diving snag of Victoinos chopper down the third base line, but cant throw him out. And that DAMN pesky Utley hits a really nice pitch by Maine, high and outside, for a bloop single to center. He had no business touching that pitch with his bat, and just flicked it out there. And Howard JUST misses one to center. Beltran hauls it in on the track.

Eh? I'm assuming they mean second baseman, unless Wright is DHing today. Second, can someone share what happened for those of us stuck with a GameCast?

Whenever Utley and Howard come to bat in the same inning against the Mets I hold my breath.
Zvon Aug 17 2006 03:02 PM |
Wow---thats almost nicer to see than the homers--
soupcan Aug 17 2006 03:03 PM |
Radio sez - Valentin: strained hammy.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 17 2006 03:06 PM |
Keith was livid that Delgado was credited with a triple on that play - he thought it was a single and that Delucci committed an error on the play.
MFS62 Aug 17 2006 03:10 PM |
He was a catcher. What does he know about running? (Yeah, I know. He stole home in a world Series game. :) ) Later
Zvon Aug 17 2006 03:11 PM |

...thats how I saw it. Not complaining tho. Maine gives up two singles to lead off the Phils 7th, and he'll make way for Chad Bradford.
Zvon Aug 17 2006 03:19 PM |
Really---I mean really nice 3 pitch strike out by Bradford of the pinch hitter Rowand.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 17 2006 03:22 PM |
Feliciano strikes out Utley. Whew!

Feliciano strikes out Utley!
MFS62 Aug 17 2006 03:31 PM |
And for his good work, Willie pinch hits Franco for Feliciano.
Zvon Aug 17 2006 03:32 PM |
I guess all the talk of Castros death have been greatly exaggerated.
Zvon Aug 17 2006 03:33 PM |

Maybe not '62. Howard smacks Heilmans 1st pitch for a single to center.

I know. I edited my post. I blame Yahoo.

I hear ya---Yahoo has made a yahoo out of me many times with their inaccurate or tardy info. Stat-Tracker isnt much better on average-and I pay for that deal.

Just got a report (Comcastsportsnet) that Burrell vetoed a trade to the Orioles before the trade deadline--so i guess someone did want him.

This game marked Mike Leiberthal's ascenion to #1 in the Phillies' "all-time Games by a catcher" list.
ScarletKnight41 Aug 17 2006 04:50 PM |
Phillies phans are a tough group. You heard them booing Burrell today.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 17 2006 04:56 PM |
He's been injured and lost some effectiveness over the past few years, I guess. He's been paid for his 1999 season over and over again but hasn't replicated it yet and isn't likely to do so.

Willets Point Aug 18 2006 11:02 AM |

I remember 1999. That's when Met Maven wanted to get rid of Mike Piazza and trade for Lieberthal in his place.
