Let's Swing Out, Sisters.

When explanations make no sense
when every answer's wrong
you're fighting with less confidence
all expectations gone
the time has come to make or break
move on don't hesitate
breakout...

don't start to ask
and now you've found a way to make it last
you've got to find a way, say what you want to say
breakout...

and situations never change
tomorrow looks unsure
don't leave your destiny to chance
what are you waiting for
the time has come to make or break
breakout...

don't start to ask
and now you've found a way to make it last
you've got to find a way, say what you want to say
breakout...

don't start to ask
and now you've found a way to make it last
you've got to find a way, say what you want to say
breakout...

some people stop at nothing
if you're searching for something
lay down the law, shout out for more, break out the ???
breakout...

breakout...

There are no must win games in August but I'd hate to get swept.......when was the last time the Mets got swept in a four game series,I imagine it was in recent seasons.

Maine looked fine in the first.
Nice 1-2-3 inning with a K to Utley.

Zvon
Aug 17 2006 01:35 PM

Single by Valentin-
Moved over by Milledge-
DiFelice with a line single to right, his first hit as a Met,drives in run #2.

Maine sacs DiFelice over and Reyes drives him in with a ground single....
now this is the team Im used to watchin.

3-0 Mets

Two really nice fielding plays back up Maine in the 2nd.

Chavez chases Howards long drive into the left field corner, leaps, and pulls it down.

Reyes with a diving grab in the hole of Lieberthals line drive, easily robs a single.

Thanks guys, but really, the more kabooms the better.

I make these cuz I enjoy messing with graphics in my spare time, but if they are gonna stop others from posting kabooms, one of the reasons I so enjoy IGTs, Ill refrain.

Reyes works an at bat in the 4th, and draws a walk.
He didnt chase that 3-2 fast ball-
Very nice.

Utley doubles to right-
Milledge with a decent play to keep it from getting to the wall- tho he ran right at the ball and was lucky to grab it and cut it off. It was double no matter how he played it.

And Howard with a towering homer to left-gone off the bat.
It wasnt a bad pitch by Maine.
A nice fastball on the outside part of the plate--- cant get away with that to Howard.
That guy can hit anything out.

4-2 Mets

Zvon
Aug 17 2006 02:34 PM

Vanentin is out and Woody is in for him at second.
Some speculation he may have injured himself on the bases that last half, running into Utley on the Milledge double play.
They didnt collide or anything, but he may have tried to stop short and quick to avoid the tag.
No replay-----but live it looked like he just ran straight into Utleys tag.

Thanks SK.
I think the whole concept of the kaboom post makes the IGTs more interactive fun for the fans.

Wright makes a GREAT diving snag of Victoinos chopper down the third base line, but cant throw him out.

And that DAMN pesky Utley hits a really nice pitch by Maine, high and outside, for a bloop single to center.
He had no business touching that pitch with his bat, and just flicked it out there.

And Howard JUST misses one to center. Beltran hauls it in on the track.

Whenever Utley and Howard come to bat in the same inning against the Mets I hold my breath.

Zvon
Aug 17 2006 03:02 PM

Wow---thats almost nicer to see than the homers--
Delgado rips a wicked line drive by 1st base, in the hole -
its hit so hard Dellucci slides to cut it off from the wall, and he kicks it into the corner.
Beltran scores easily- and as of now Delgado is credited with a triple.

...thats how I saw it.
Not complaining tho.

Maine gives up two singles to lead off the Phils 7th, and he'll make way for Chad Bradford.

Zvon
Aug 17 2006 03:19 PM

Really---I mean really nice 3 pitch strike out by Bradford of the pinch hitter Rowand.

He gets Rollins to pop out to Wright-

Victorino smacks a grounder off of Chads leg for an infield single.
Bradford saved a run with the deflection to Delgado---
Mets go to the bullpen for Feliciano.

I dont think Chad was hurt at all by the grounder--I think that Feliciano was coming in to face Utley in any case.

Bases loaded for the Phils- 2 out.

ScarletKnight41
Aug 17 2006 03:22 PM

Feliciano strikes out Utley. Whew!

7-2 Mets going to the 8th!

Zvon
Aug 17 2006 03:23 PM

Feliciano strikes out Utley!

He had him chase the 2nd strike out of the zone, as Utley tried to check his swing, and froze him with a low curve ball for strike 3.
He was lookin fastball all the way.
Great job by the pen.

MFS62
Aug 17 2006 03:31 PM

And for his good work, Willie pinch hits Franco for Feliciano.
Hey, its two outs.
Why not let him bat for hinmself and then face Howard, who is first up in the bottom of the inning?

(shameless second guess)

Pats gone on record saying hes not happy with the new Phillies outfield rotation stratagy since the Abreu trade. Thinks he should be playing everyday.

Beltran rips a double down the left field line in the 9th.
He has 4 hits in 5 at bats.
Delgado has 2 homers and a triple (guess that triple stands), but he grounds out here.

Wagner will pitch the 9th in a non save situation.
We all have to agree he needs the work, save situation or not.

Just got a report (Comcastsportsnet) that Burrell vetoed a trade to the Orioles before the trade deadline--so i guess someone did want him.

This game marked Mike Leiberthal's ascenion to #1 in the Phillies' "all-time Games by a catcher" list.

Tom McCarthy remarked this was a record Phillies fans were hoping wouldn't be achieved.

What's their beef with Lieberthal?

He's been injured and lost some effectiveness over the past few years, I guess. He's been paid for his 1999 season over and over again but hasn't replicated it yet and isn't likely to do so.

I remember 1999. That's when Met Maven wanted to get rid of Mike Piazza and trade for Lieberthal in his place.
