OlerudOwned
Aug 22 2006 07:16 PM

Maine not messing around with Pujols, three pitches and sit your ass down.

Balls of a burglar.

Yancy Street Gang
Aug 22 2006 07:17 PM

I'm guessing that Maine's cap size is about a 6.

OlerudOwned
Aug 22 2006 07:19 PM

You know what? I don't like Chris Duncan.

MFS62
Aug 22 2006 07:20 PM

I think this is a fine time for the fans at field level to remind Weaver that he's pitching in New York. (In case he didn't remember his performances with that other NY team)

Slump? What slump?

Can someone please give Mr. Delgado a KABOOM?

EDIT: Thank you.

LoDuca the sleaze with a single.

Prince Albert with a 3 run dinger.
3-1 Cards.

Maine needs to call a vet. He has problems with his gopher.

Here is an old stand by "I don't know why anyone pitches to him"

One of the top laziest and lamest ways to look like you know something about baseball strategy

Great play by Tucker/Reyes/LoDuca on the throwout.

Bases loaded for Pujols.....and he clears the bases with a home run.

Walks kill.

Edgy DC
Aug 22 2006 08:23 PM

Ledee attempts to kill a bit himself, leading off with a walk in what looks to be his last Met at-bat.

Edgy DC
Aug 22 2006 08:24 PM

Molina shows that legendary defense as the ball just goes through a hole in his mitt and he jogs after it.

400th homer as a Met: Duke Snider, Eddie Murray.

Not Mike Piazza.

Dave Kingman?

Anyone else?

Keith is pleased that the Mets have brought back The Curly Shuffle.

I'm just glad that they listened to my suggestion ;)

Frayed Knot

So who's making the more obscure music reference?

- Keith mentioning Archie Bell & the Drells (1960?) song Tighten Up whenever he refers to pressure situations?

- or Ronnie bringing up Joni Mitchell's Coyote and it's 'Bay of Fundy' line when Keith & Gary were discussing "fundies" (fundamentals)?

Coyote's in the coffee shop
He's staring a hole in his scrambled eggs
He picks up my scent on his fingers
While he's watching the waitresses' legs
He's too far from the Bay of Fundy
From Appaloosas and Eagles and tides
And the air conditioned cubicles
And the carbon ribbon rides
Are spelling it out so clear

Edgy DC
Aug 22 2006 09:36 PM

Bad call at home.

Feliciano did not get the same plate Looper got.

I was figuring Milledge even before LoDuca got on...and was very dismayed -- even after the HR -- that he wasn't used. Unless you know something that us at the game didn't -- unavailable?

Edgy DC
Aug 22 2006 10:56 PM

I dunno. Everyone's tender. Just speculating.

Aug 22 2006 11:43 PM

i went to the game, and not only was it exciting, but i saw prominent competitive eater "crazy-legs" conti in grand central terminal on the way home. it was a good night, a walkoff homer and a fantastic celebrity sighting.

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 22 2006 11:55 PM

I didn't see any competitive eaters but a great game? Holy crap, yes.

I was so worried I destroyed our Mojo by stepping on Lundy's KTE, but Lundy's KTE only provided the bigger and more dramatic win. wow.

Was he safe at home? Bang-bang play that I forgot all about until I got home, but turned out huge!

I suppose they spotted us a great play too: The catch on Reyes ' first inning drive was fantastic and prolly saved Weaver a 6-run inning, we figured.

All 5 Home runs were majestic, no-doubters. Maine looked awesome the first time thru, and like they stole the signs the next.

Guillermo Mota lit up the boards at 96, 86 on the changes, and the Cardinals didn't have much. And Bradford-- what can you say? He was lighting the gun at 66 and getting 4 of the game's biggest outs.

Really thought it was over when Reyes was retired to lead off the 9th, credit to LoDuca for a big single following him.

They flashed the Green trade news on the scorebaord in like the 6th inning, but it went down so quick I didn't even see it, and spent the rest of the night shouting and wondering from whom. I was relieved to see Milledge's jersey pop out of the dougout in the 9th, but I was later misled by a jagoff in a Cardinals hat waiting for the subway who said, "Victor Diaz and Heath Bell or Royce Ring."

Turns out it was only MacLane, a slowball specialist whom me and marathon watched at Brooklyn a few years back. Fair deal, which I guess means Cliff may not return so quick or something.

I like the Mets.

Very cool Dickshot, had to have been a blast to see two sluggers slug it out then Beltran settle it.....btw Diaz was DFA.

Yancy Street Gang
Aug 23 2006 06:22 AM

Them walkoff homers is fun.

Especially when they instantly turn a deficit into a win.
