As bad as that is, there may be more to it.

Shanta was actually a classmate of Cliff's younger brother Julius. She had been a handful for her adoptive parents, and was taken in and adopted by the Floyds when she was six. She remained rebellious and had two children and ran away as a teenager. She reconciled with her family and they grew close, but then developed breast cancer. All of them --- Floyd's common-law wife and two children, his parents, his sister and her two children (born when she was 14 and 16) --- had been living with him during her recovery, until the cancer remanifest itself in her head.

So now, I guess he's going to share responsiblity for those orphaned children with his parents. In retrospect, I guess this DL assignment couldn't have come at a better time for him.

So, I want you all to give Cliff the best ovation you can muster the next time you see him at Shea. Pass it on.

Thanks for the additional information, Edgy. Tough time for Cliff. I have always liked Cliff the player, but now I respect the man. He and his family will be in my prayers.
