A-P So Ya Think You are a Sports Radio Talk Show Host Part 2

Can't find the original thread, but Don LaGreca of 1050 ESPN Radio (Michael Kay's update guy, co-host and regular fill-in, and supposed Met fan) had me scratching my head with this one

Apparantly (and this drivel started Friday and continued today as well) LaGreca was annoyed that the Mets scheduled the 1986 reunion for the same weekend that the Yanks were playing the Red Sox! Basically lambasting the Mets for not ensuring the proper over exposure for the event and acting like the Yanks do not exist!

Boneheaded thinking (and pot stiring as well)

A) Who, other than Met fans really care about the reunion? And those casual or non-fans, or those who like both teams will know exactly when and where to watch it. Generally these events get nice press, but really, thats all they SHOULD get, just some nice "Where are they now" stories and plugs on radio/tv shows. They should never be "in the way" of you know, actual coverage of relevant topics? Even if the Mets were inducting someone in their HOF or retiring a number, it didn't matter if the Yanks were playing the Royals, they are not the story unless its a severly slow day

B) Be prepared when you are going to go with that kind of rant. What were the Mets doing through the years the weekend of Yankee OTG? Are you telling me the Mets NEVER had a big series that commanded the back pages? The Yankees never had a September ceremony coincide with a big NFL football Sunday? Are the Yanks so blessed that OTG and other like ceromonies are held on days were they are the only ones around? Stop this need to have the Mets have Steinbrenner's warped need to win the back pages 365 days out of the year.

C) You know what, the only people that it mattered to are the people who were there or watched. They'll remember that long after they've forgotten that the Yanks were kicking the Sox' butt that particular weekend, and THATS the only important thing about the event, not having it be the topic of disscussion on the radio shows, not being on the cover of the back pages the next day

The things people choose to stir the pot with...

Steve, why not change the title of this thread to include stupid comments from in-game broadcasts as well as sports talk? I've heard plenty of them over the past few days and there's really no thread in which to post them.
For example:
During yesterday's Yankee game, John Sterling gushed "Bobby Abreau was born (his emphasis)to be a Yankee.

Even better, why not talk about things that are interesting.

Steve has an agenda, to correct the thinking of sports radio broadcast personalities.

I say, tune in to music instead.

I've been off WFAN for about a year now. I haven't heard Francesa's voice once in that time, and the only time I heard Mad Dog was when he was on David Letterman. (And I was tempted to fast-forward, but didn't.)

I realized that the occassional tidbit of news that I'd get from listening to sports radio wasn't worth the many hours of inanity.

I'm starting to think the same way...

I thought it was midly amusing and I thought I'd share it with the group along with my reasoning as to why its a stupid thing to stir the pot with. Probably one of the more dumber ones I've heard in a long time, well in part due to how many days the guy gave this drivel.

I don't know a nice way to say this Steve. Your latest post is pure bullshit. You post dumbass things you hear on the radio or read on the web all the time. And then when someone mentions how stupid your post was, you claim that you're posting it only to be funny, or to stir the pot, or to show how stupid someone is, or some other load of crap. Then you'll claim you're starting to change your mind about listening to or reading those things.

And then a week later you'll be restarting the process.

Weird.
