No Smooth?

At least its a song many of the voters would be more familliar with.

Delicious song, but not pure Santana

I thought I posted this late last night, but apparently I was too tired and it didn't end up here as I had intended. So I will give this another try and hopefully it will work this time.

Lookin' Out My Back Door
Travelin' Band
Down on the Corner
Green River
Up Around the Bend
Bad Moon Rising
Have You Ever Seen The Rain
Fortunate Son
Who'll Stop the Rain?
Born on The Bayou

I haven't voted on these before but felt I had to chime in on this one because I like both groups and their music. As much as I love Santana, this one goes to CCR by my vote of 7-2-1.

Santana wins #s 1 and 8, with #3 a tie(both great songs).

Sorry, Cooby.

Welcome MFS62, glad you liked this one! I like both groups too.

There's no hard feelings in this game, otherwise we would all hate each other by now :)

Interesting Fact:The band originally formed in 1966 as the Santana Blues Band. Carlos himself was not viewed by the members as the actual leader of the band that had his name. The group operated as a collective, as it would through the early 1970s. The name of the band was agreed upon due to a local musicians union requirement that there be a designated leader and a name.
Interesting Fact: The band took its name from Credence Nuball, who was a friend of Tom Fogerty, "clearwater", a reference to the band's concern for the ecology (from a TV commercial of the day), and "revival", which spoke to the four member's re-committment to their band.

My respect and admiration of Edgy grows. NOTE: I haven't updated the song links as of yet, but I wanted to post this so I don't lose my work so far.

OE: The song links are all in there. Where possible I tried to put in a Youtube video since it helps to hear the whole song and its fun to see these bands in action. If there's any variation in the songs that affect your judgement, the clips the sponsors submitted are what you should vote on.

Hee hee, he probably does. Along with those 25 clerks who do nothing but scan news sources for items on former Mets.

Is this our first matchup of performers who both played at Woodstock?

sharpie
Aug 18 2006 11:09 AM

Yes, first Woodstock matchup. Only other band currently in competition who played Woodstock are The Who who haven't faced Santana or CCR. Jimi Hendrix, natch, played Woodstock but that was post-Experience (and with a not-so-good band).

Listening to "Fortunate Son" on my iPod. This song is freakin' masterpiece - lyrics, vocals (how does Fogherty sing like that), guitar licks, and overall instrumentation.

Creedence clearly is favored over Santana by a 68-32 margin.

As a farewell treat, here's footage of each band at Woodstock.

Creedence plays "Born on the Bayou", "Bad Moon Rising", and "I Put a Spell on You" and Santana performs "Soul Sacrifice" [WARNING: Nekkid people everywhere!] (Cooby you should consider this song for a future challenge).
