'Tis the season...

I eat it hot, with butter ,salt and pepper, but I "cheat".
I stick those little plastic thingies into the ends so I can pick it up and not burn my fingers.
Modern technology is wonderful.

Oh yeah, those things are great!

Plastic thingies.

I actually eat it at the same time as my meat. I also like "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray with it - it's much easier than trying to butter the corn with a knife.

Whenever possible, I cook the corn on the grill: Peel the husk but don't remove it -- pick off the hair then re-wrap it, get it damp and wrap in foil, throw it on there for ~15 mins a side.

Unwrapping it and removing the husk requires one to scorch a few fingers but it is worth it.

I'm with JD... cook it on the grill.

Then, a little butter, sprinkle some parmesan cheese on it... can't be beat.

Answer #1 is really the only acceptable answer. I used to use those plastic thingies but stopped a few years ago.

Since my daughter has a front tooth implant, I give #3 the benefit of the doubt : )

The whole #1 answer arose because I spent two days last week peeling the skin off of the top of my mouth until I finally took some Advils.

Plastic thingies, no butter or salt - just freshly ground black pepper, must
make a lot of pig noises when eating it and knock it off a row at at time.
Never stop mid-row. Never. I prefer it boiled more than grilled and slightly
undercooked by some corn consumers standards.

The real question is do you eat it of the cob typewriter style (eat a row of kernels across and then move on to the next row) or rotisserrie style (eat a column of kernels around the cob and keep rotating as you eat).

I'm a rotisserie eater, S&P and real butter. I do not fool with plastic thingys.

Elster88

Rotisserie. Most of the time.

Typewriter. Salt & pepper. Real butter.

Typewriter, thingies, usually plain. Firmly agree with the barbecue option; you can put just about any seasoning on there before you husk it back up and it's awesome.

Another butter trick is buttering a dinner roll and then using that to butter the corn.

Typewriter style, butter no salt.

I wish it made the ding and carriage return sounds that typewriters used to make. I think Woody Woodpecker gets that sound when he eats corn, but I haven't figured out his secret yet.

Typewriter, salted butter, thingies optional but always welcome.

I'm amphibious. I eat corn on the cob virtually any way (typewriter style or rotisserie style depending on my mood) I can get it. With butter and minimal salt. Grilled or boiled, I'm not too picky, as long as it's fresh.

It's a little known fact that corn was considered food for farm animals until the 20th century when cultivation of sweet corn made it palatable for human consumption straight off the cob. I guess this could go in the "Things you maybe didn't know" thread.

Speaking of other threads, I like the episode of M*A*S*H where Fr. Mulcahy grows corn to eat off the cob for the 4th of July picnic but Igor - the crumby army cook - creams the corn. When Fr. Mulcahy complains, Igor says "Well next time you can just eat it off the cob for all I care!"

Does this mean you can eat corn on the cob underwater too?

I love cold corn in the summer. I also make an ass-kicking corn salsa that
goes real well plopped on top of fish.

Rotisserie, non-butter spray, plastic thingies.

I thought of this this afternoon while I was swimming underwater, started laughing, and darn near drowned. Willets! Ya almost killed me!

Go have some corn on the cob for supper, everybody

Um - I already have a casserole in the oven. But it does have corn niblets in it. Hopefully that's close enough.

I was taught to eat what's put in front of me and to be thankful for it and
there's nothing else to eat until breakfast so dig in if you're hungry.

I'm having pork chops with a Jamaican Jerk marinade.
