A-P IMDB Mistakes Thread

Yeah I know I mucked up the Sandberg trade thanks to doing something off the cuff, but before Wikipedia brought to the World Wide Web the encylopedia that anyone can add information without any attribution or editing, IMDB was doing the same for the movie industry. While a good tool for whats out there and they do link up to "professional" reviews and databases, there are many so-called "facts," urban legends and speculations littered all over the site's many features. Thanks to the fact that users can post things without editing. This caught my eye today, for the movie about Vince Papale, the Eagles walkon back in the late 1970's, Invincible. Found on the Trivia page: A common misconception is that the film is missing a primary character, specifically Philadelphia Eagles veteran QB #7 Ron Jaworski. But Jaworski was still on the St. Louis Rams during this time frame. Jaworski was not traded to the Eagles until March of 1977. I'm going to suggest that A) Its not a common misconception if the movie has yet to be released (Friday 8/25) it should be, MIGHT BE a common misconception. Plus if the movie bombs, the misconception won't be so common afterall! and B) ESPN Football Anaylist Ron Jaworski would be explaining to everyone a) That he wants to know why he's not in the film or b) Why he told producers NOT to use his name and image in the film (the case with the living, you need their blessing), if the case was that Jaws was on the 1976 Eagles. Oh, and the Rams were not in St. Louis in 1976, they were in Los Angeles!

Actually, I'm sorry to call you out like that. That was punk. Two bad forms of nettiquette that abound on sports boards are peeps climbing all over themselves to correct another poster and peeps rushing to post news before another posts it, and not reading that it's already been posted twice. Worst part about it's so delectable to one-up somebody that one points out something beyond the original poster's point --- that they likely didn't include because it's irrelevant, but the second poster treats them as if they've got the whole story wrong. And there I am, spelling out the details, and hammering out when you're wrong, when you actually did imply the presence of Larry Bowa --- so in a rush to be right, that I get my foot in my mouth, not unlike whoever submitted that "trivia." Boo to me. Sorry. Good call on Jaws.

Wasn't it info on IMDB that "reported" that Piazza had a part as a high-school bully in some teen werewolf movie?

IMDB is great, but it isn't infallible. It also lists joke credits. Dwight Gooden is listed in the credits for Ruthless People, based on a joke credit at the end of the film.

I is The Man In Black and a II is a merger of a guy named Johnny Cash who did work on a video game and couple of tacked on TV apperances by the more famous Johnny Cash Heh, under further review it seems Cash II has been updated to reflect the fact that he is not the famous singer. Guess they do have editors checking these pages afterall! The listings on the 2nd Cash page was for a TV apperance with Kris Kristofferson and Jerry Lee Lewis and a documentary featuring two of Johnny's offspring, Rosanne and John Carter, the latter is still in production

I performed on the same CD as Lucas Papaelias in college, who was in School of Rock with Jack Black, who was in The Jackal with David Hayman, who was in Where the Truth Lies with Kevin Bacon, giving me a Bacon Number of 4.

I was in a home movie with my father and mother, who were in Sweet Liberty (1986)* with Bob Hoskins, who was in Balto (1995) with Kevin Bacon, giving me a Bacon number of 3. *As extras; you can spot my father just behind Alan Alda when they freeze frame Alda in the closing credits.

In college, I starred in The House of Blue Leaves, opposite Christine Ferrara. Chrissy married Joe Ferraro, changed her last vowel, and became Christine Ferraro, a writer/producer on Sesame Street, working with the likes of Julia Roberts, who starred with Kevin Bacon in Flatliners. That, I guess, makes me a Bacon 3. More importantly, it makes me a Schumacher 3.
