We need a new mug shot of Perez for the roster thread,he's clean shaven.

Back to back walks from Perez and Howard at the plate....danger here.

Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Aug 26 2006 07:18 PM

Perez hardly touching 90 and missing the strikezone.

Bad Oliver.

EDIT: I take the velocity part back, he's building it up.

Aug 26 2006 07:17 PM

Ugh, Perez is getting the squeeeeeze.

OlerudOwned
Aug 26 2006 07:18 PM

Aug 26 2006 07:19 PM

Nice job by Perez as he gets Burrell looking with two men on,Oliver shoing some emotion as he leaves the mound.

OlerudOwned
Aug 26 2006 07:21 PM

Reyes robbed of a triple by the wall clearing bounce, but it's a nifty leadoff double.

OlerudOwned
Aug 26 2006 07:23 PM

Dammit Howard. Stop being so damn perfect.

Aug 26 2006 07:24 PM

Beltran with career home run #200, 2 zip Mets.

Congrats Carlos.

Aug 26 2006 07:25 PM

Beltran again! He's on an unhuman tear. That one got destroyed.

2-0 Metskis

ScarletKnight41
Aug 26 2006 07:25 PM

Beltran's blast gives the Mets a 2-0 lead.

I like this guy way better than the one who wore #15 last year.

OlerudOwned
Aug 26 2006 07:26 PM

Is it just me or is Beltran's mole getting bigger?

Maybe it's the source of his power.

OlerudOwned
Aug 26 2006 07:34 PM

Perez is a bit excitable. They're going to have to hold him in a straight jacket and a cage between starts.

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 26 2006 07:43 PM

That was a sucessful inning, if only cuz Endy cleared Oliver.

Aug 26 2006 07:52 PM

Good point brought up by Gary about LoDuca's Post-ASG performance. His numbers have consistantly turned sour late in the season, but he's been red-hot this time around.

Why does SNY blue up the water on the leaving the inning stuff? There's
no blue water anywhere in NYC.

Edgy DC
Aug 26 2006 08:05 PM

Graphic designers are often artists who progressed more technically than inspirationally.

Water = blue crayon.

Jose Reyes somehow tricked David Wright into taking possession of his old pitch judgment.

Edgy DC

Game of inches. We may have won by a dozen or so runs, but our two biggest pops would've been outs had the left- and rightfielders been a total of an inch taller.

Frayed Knot
Aug 27 2006 09:41 AM

Those who benefitted from the New York Mets win would like to acknowledge the contributions of Phils manager Charlie Manual, for without his efforts in pulling starter Jon Leiber after just 86 pitches this victory may not of been possible.

Edgy DC
Aug 27 2006 01:39 PM

I was sort of counting on Charlie's hook to come around an bite him in the butt. There's no point in us trying to build a superior bullpen if our offense isn't making the opposing pen look inferior.

And he went to the pen early with Flash Gordon unavailable. Thanks, Charlie!

Zvon
Aug 27 2006 01:47 PM

Wrights not knockin the cover off the ball lately and I thought that intentional walk to him was a questionable move- but only cuz I wanted to see them pitch to him so he could knock the cover off the ball.
He decided to walk Valentin too.
Dont he know this lineup has no holes in it anymore?

Thanks Charlie!

Or simply better OFers.
Burrell's not as bad as he was when he first came up but still isn't good, and Jose Hernandez is a hastily converted infielder.

The IW to Wright is certainly understandable.
Yeah he's slumping but it's still him vs Jose Valentin and, as it was done to re-load the bases, it was a reasonable strategic move as well.

Ive had the displeasure of seeing alot of the Phils.
Burrell is getting worse and worse in the field as time goes by- and when he first came up he was only adequate.

Both walks were understandable (even if there were 2 outs some managers may have walked Wright there) - I just enjoy seeing an opposing managers strategy backfire.

I say questionable only because I would have gone after him there, myself (but Im no manager, thats for sure). Woulda pitched him off the plate tho, with nothing to hit. Wright was swinging at pitches outta the zone all night. He's pressing.
If he took em for balls, he gets 1st. Or maybe I get a cheap K.

In any case--I still thank Charles.

ScarletKnight41
Aug 27 2006 03:18 PM

I actually think that, overall, Burrell's defense has improved over the last couple of years. But that play last night was vintage Pat - he just couldn't get a bead on it at all.
