I'm really looking forward to Perez tonight, go Mets.
|
metirish Aug 26 2006 07:11 PM |
We need a new mug shot of Perez for the roster thread,he's clean shaven.
|
metirish Aug 26 2006 07:14 PM |
Back to back walks from Perez and Howard at the plate....danger here.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 26 2006 07:14 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Aug 26 2006 07:18 PM |
Perez hardly touching 90 and missing the strikezone.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 26 2006 07:17 PM |
Ugh, Perez is getting the squeeeeeze.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 26 2006 07:18 PM |
Heeeee struck him out.
|
metirish Aug 26 2006 07:19 PM |
Nice job by Perez as he gets Burrell looking with two men on,Oliver shoing some emotion as he leaves the mound.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 26 2006 07:21 PM |
Reyes robbed of a triple by the wall clearing bounce, but it's a nifty leadoff double.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 26 2006 07:23 PM |
Dammit Howard. Stop being so damn perfect.
|
metirish Aug 26 2006 07:24 PM |
Beltran with career home run #200, 2 zip Mets.

Is it just me or is Beltran's mole getting bigger?
|
OlerudOwned Aug 26 2006 07:34 PM |
Perez is a bit excitable. They're going to have to hold him in a straight jacket and a cage between starts.
|
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2006 07:43 PM |
|
That was a sucessful inning, if only cuz Endy cleared Oliver.
|

Oliver Perez. Pardon my Russian, but Holy Shitzky!
|
metirish Aug 26 2006 07:48 PM |
Gary says that two years ago you could not have gotten Perez for Kazmir he was that good, I wonder about that.
|
Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 07:49 PM |
LoDuca getting around on a pitch in off the plate. Good stuff.
|
Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 07:50 PM |
Way to show up your secondbaseman partner, Rollins.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 26 2006 07:52 PM |
Good point brought up by Gary about LoDuca's Post-ASG performance. His numbers have consistantly turned sour late in the season, but he's been red-hot this time around.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 26 2006 07:59 PM |
Filthy backdoor slider.
|
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2006 08:00 PM |
Oliver has the whole jackpack tonight. His pitchcount might be a concern but I'l be damned if he ---- ----------- - -- --------.

I think it's a pretty solid position.

Victorino's single is the first Phillies hit of the night, and it cuts the lead to 2-1.

ScarletKnight41 Aug 26 2006 08:18 PM |
Damn! A grand slam to Howard gives the Phillies a 5-2 lead :(

Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 08:19 PM |

KC Aug 26 2006 08:24 PM |

|
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2006 08:28 PM |
FU, DeLuca. How can a guy hitting 318 behind Reyes have only 38 RBI?
|
TransMonk Aug 26 2006 08:30 PM |

I'd love to believe that. He's had our number the last month.

I definitely question the wisdom of the bunt.

Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 08:54 PM |
Nice Valenplay.
|
metirish Aug 26 2006 08:58 PM |

Yeah even though it was a sweet bunt you would want him driving in the guy at second base.
|
Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 09:00 PM |
Let's drop da bomb on da bullpen here. Eat right the hell through it.
|
Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 09:00 PM |

And like LoDuca did also.

Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2006 09:05 PM |

They're intentionally walking David Wright? Don't they know that he's slumping?
|
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2006 09:08 PM |
Lame commercial break timing there, damn near missed the play.

Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 09:08 PM |

ScarletKnight41 Aug 26 2006 09:14 PM |
Even Woodward is hitting! 11-5!

Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 09:15 PM |
Should've walked him, chump.

seawolf17 Aug 26 2006 09:18 PM |
There are few things better in life than Gary Cohen calling a Mets rally.
|
Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 09:18 PM |
If this lead holds up, Pedro Felicano --- the world's only three-time Met --- will go to 6-2, 1.92.

I have it on good authority that he's an automatic out. How about Cohen remembering the situation and personnel of his only foul ball caught? Thanks for the wows.
|
metirish Aug 26 2006 09:27 PM |
|
And how about Darling knowing that the guy who hit the foul ball once went 7 for 7 against the Cubs?
|
Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 09:29 PM |
I knew that.
|
metirish Aug 26 2006 09:31 PM |
Delgado just misses another home run, damn but he is locked in.
|
metirish Aug 26 2006 09:32 PM |
What I love about Cohen calling a game is that he gets all pumped up even when a guy from the other team makes a great play just like Rollins did now...
|
Rockin' Doc Aug 26 2006 09:36 PM |
Fun reading through this thread. When I logged on to check on the score, we were trailing 4-3. After doing some work and putting together a POTG Poll for last night's game I look and see that we now lead by a 11-5 score. I love these type of moments.

I do believe Mr. Feliciano has been quietly putting himself into the running for "Most Pleasant Surprise of 2006" along with Mssrs. Valentin, Oliver and Chavez.
|
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2006 10:05 PM |
Hard to believe he was one-time freight for Shawn Estes.
|
metirish Aug 26 2006 10:10 PM |
Hard to believe that he didn't make the team outta spring training only to be told he did.
|
Gwreck Aug 26 2006 10:11 PM |
Edit: redundant.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 26 2006 10:18 PM |
I was rooting for Feliciano to make the team over Oliver during Spring Training.
|
Edgy DC Aug 26 2006 10:51 PM |
I don't think that can be held against them at all in retrospect.
|
Edgy DC Aug 27 2006 09:00 AM |
Game of inches. We may have won by a dozen or so runs, but our two biggest pops would've been outs had the left- and rightfielders been a total of an inch taller.
|
Frayed Knot Aug 27 2006 09:41 AM |
Those who benefitted from the New York Mets win would like to acknowledge the contributions of Phils manager Charlie Manual, for without his efforts in pulling starter Jon Leiber after just 86 pitches this victory may not of been possible.
|
Edgy DC Aug 27 2006 01:39 PM |
I was sort of counting on Charlie's hook to come around an bite him in the butt. There's no point in us trying to build a superior bullpen if our offense isn't making the opposing pen look inferior.
|
Zvon Aug 27 2006 01:47 PM |
Wrights not knockin the cover off the ball lately and I thought that intentional walk to him was a questionable move- but only cuz I wanted to see them pitch to him so he could knock the cover off the ball.
|
Frayed Knot Aug 27 2006 02:50 PM |
|
Or simply better OFers. Burrell's not as bad as he was when he first came up but still isn't good, and Jose Hernandez is a hastily converted infielder. The IW to Wright is certainly understandable. Yeah he's slumping but it's still him vs Jose Valentin and, as it was done to re-load the bases, it was a reasonable strategic move as well.

Zvon Aug 27 2006 03:10 PM |

Ive had the displeasure of seeing alot of the Phils. Burrell is getting worse and worse in the field as time goes by- and when he first came up he was only adequate. Both walks were understandable (even if there were 2 outs some managers may have walked Wright there) - I just enjoy seeing an opposing managers strategy backfire. I say questionable only because I would have gone after him there, myself (but Im no manager, thats for sure). Woulda pitched him off the plate tho, with nothing to hit. Wright was swinging at pitches outta the zone all night. He's pressing. If he took em for balls, he gets 1st. Or maybe I get a cheap K. In any case--I still thank Charles.
|
ScarletKnight41 Aug 27 2006 03:18 PM |
I actually think that, overall, Burrell's defense has improved over the last couple of years. But that play last night was vintage Pat - he just couldn't get a bead on it at all.
