Phillies are 2 and a half game back of the Wild Card leading Cards/Reds, and trailing the Padres by a game.

Histrionics:

Earlier this month the Phillies saw fit to induct Dallas Green into their Wall of Fame.

Manager that brought the Phils their only World Championship in 1980. That was years before this and of course

I have no idea if any Phillie pheonom hurlers from the early 80's ever wound up as bad as Gen K did under Green's watch though, but he was there when they traded an aging shortstop and a young INF for Manny Trillo. The young INF? Ryne Sandberg

The other Metly members of the Phillies hall:
Richie Ashburn and Tug McGraw

Along with runiner of a fine Fathers Day afternoon, Jim Bunning, Johnny Calison whose pinch hit walk off HR won Shea's only All Star Game, and noted Met killers (and NL killers) Steve Carlton and Mike Schmidt

Von Hayes also got a rep as a Met masher.
As did RF Glenn Wilson, for a short time.

A couple of details you're missing here. (1) Ivan DeJesus was the target of the deal, not Trillo, and Larry Bowa also went over; (2) Green was on the other side of the deal, robbing the Phils as the GM of the Cubbies.

Aging SS was Bowa.

Yeah, yet another example of why quick visits to easy accessabile research tools are needed, no matter how smart you think you are when it comes to mintuae of baseball trivia!

Interesting Dallas Green trivia: He managed 3 different orgs in 8 different seasons, but only once did he manage a full, 162-game season, and that year his team won the World Series.

1979 Phillies: 30 games: Took over midseason for Danny Ozark
1980 Phillies: 162 games, Won WS
1981 Phillies: 107 games, strike interrupted

1989 Yankees: 121 games, whacked in favor of Dent

1993 Mets: 124 games, took over for Torborg
1994 Mets: 113 games, strike interrupted
1995 Mets: 144 games, strike delayed
1996 Mets: 131 games, whacked for Bobby V
