Rube Walker status has been achived by The Big Train, Edgy in DC!

See Tug, Tom, Jon and Jerry are represented around Rube in your avatar. Though men like Nolan Ryan, Dan Frisella, Craig Swan and Bob Apodaca weren't too shabby back in the day.

What is it with you and pitching anyway? =;)

Oh and after reading that page on Rain Delay Central, The Big Train wasn't a patch on the FANNY of The Big Six!

=;) SC = 1936 (Year both Walter and Christy became the first pitchers in Cooperstown)

Though I do shudder when I realize that Tim Leary was one of the last on Rube's watch.

Can't have all good exits I guess =;)

No, they weren't. Ruth, Cobb, and Wagner also pitched in the majors.

Well if you want to get TECHNICAL about it!

I mean, yeah people do use Ruth's pitching as an intangible reason to call him the greatest player of all time, and if you project his stats he'd probably would have gone down among the all-time great leftys

But he is in the Hall because of his hitting, specifically the HRs

Cobb? One of the greatest hitters to ever suit up
Wagner? Still to this day (thanks to a weenie aquiesing to a lesser "captain" ) the greatest SS of all time
