And most of them have cost the Mets less than a typical free agent bench player. It may be luck, it may be skill. It may be the result of a team with money taking good calculated risks. Whatever it is, Minaya's had it this year. None of this is really news to us, but still.

Berto cost more than a typical free agent bench player, but I guess that's where the "most of them" comes from.
