What plans have you for the weekend? If any...

We're going to visit a friend in Ithaca, maybe stop at Cooperstown on the way back.

Trying to catch a train to New York and hit the Uni Watch Soul Picnic.

We were going to drive up today to a little inn on one of the FInger Lakes for a couple days, do a wine tour, but I think it's going to rain, so we'll wait until the leaves start to turn.

Hamburgers on the grill Monday night.

Willets, I can tell you where Rachel Ray ate, if you want to just spend $40. But I wish you'd stop at Fukin Jon's so I can finally know what it's like

Saturday - stay at home and watch the rain for we are young and life is long
and there is time to kill on Saturday

Sunday - Stormville Airport fleas and Hudson Valley Renegades game

Monday - eat drink and be merry

Tuesday - back to the salt mine, summer's over, get to work

So far we're all going to New York.

Cooby, who or what is Fukin Jon? Last time we went to Ithaca we ate at Moosewood Cafe and it was delicious.

Quite a change of plans in 14 minutes

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 01 2006 09:45 AM

To-nite: Granny watches the boy and we go out to eat for the first time in 50 years.

Saturday: Attempt to repair holes in the wall/ceiling left behind by the electrician. Go shopping at the Fairway in Red Hook (maybe).

Sunday: Meet geeky Internet friend at UniWatch BBQ.

Monday: Console Wifey as she prepares to return to work. Cook some fish on the grill

Who changed their plans?

Tomorrow D-Dad and I are supposed to see John Mayer/Sheryl Crow in concert in Camden (yeah, yeah - I saw them in concert last weekend, but I was able to get better seats for the Camden show and D-Dad is able to go with me to this one), but with the hurricane coming up the coast I'll check the venue to make sure that the show is still on.

Sunday D-Dad is taking Impulse2 and some of her friends to Medieval Times for her birthday celebration. Our older son will go with them, while MK and I will go to a friend's Labor Day party.

Monday we'll visit with my parents in the early afternoon, and then hit the town pool on the last day of the season (weather permitting).

Willets I thought you meant you were changing from Ithaca/Cooperstown to NYC. Fukin Jon's is a Chinese place in Cooperstown that was closed when we spotted it but still caused gales of laughter from the backseat (then midteenaged son and friend) for miles.
Heck, from the front seat too.

Johnny, your poor wife! Give her lots of hugs.

Willets Point
Sep 01 2006 09:52 AM

No I meant it looked like everyone was going somewhere in the state of New York including those who don't live in New York. I think Scarlett broke the pattern.

Havin' some friends over on Sunday or Monday. Buying a new sofabed. Taking Lenny to the orthodontist. I got (almost) nothin'.

Nothing planned either, other than dropping my son off at a laser tag party on Saturday morning.

EDIT: Actually, I also have an art project I hope to find time to work on.

Saturday: Like KC, missin' the fleas due to expected heavy rains.
Sunday: Visiting wifey's friend who has her newlywed kids coming to town.
Monday: Nothing scheduled other than some Honey-do projects around the house and maybe burning some meat over the barbeque.

Have a good one, every one.

I imagine that at a UniWatch BBQ - more so than any other party - people will be really catty about discussing what other people are wearing.

Friday - Lay around the house, do some general cleaning up in the wake of Ernesto's overnight stay, and drink a few beers.

Saturday - Chillin' at home with the family and waiting to see what develops.

Sunday - Go to church and have a nice brunch with the family. Then chill at home and wait to see what develops.

Monday - If the weather is decent will head to the city resevoir for some boating and jet skiing with family and friends.

Tuesday - Head back to the office to recover from a 4 day weekend.

I'm amazed that jet skis are allowed on a resevoir. Doesn't their engine pollute the water like a power boat's?

MFS62 - "I'm amazed that jet skis are allowed on a resevoir. Doesn't their engine pollute the water like a power boat's?"

Virtually every large lake or resevoir that I have ever been to allows power boats and jet ski's on them. I don't see anything unique in that here. That's why they have water treatment plants.

MFS62
Sep 02 2006 08:36 AM

I've lived across from one for 30 years, and they only allow rowboats on it.
I didn't know.

Same here. Pretty cool store, like the UWS one with a lot more room.

Bring xtra $$ for meat or fish, but it's all good quality. Take your girl, she'll like it. There's a deck out back with a nice view of the Statue of Liberty/Harbor, Manhattan. In fact you can get to/from via water taxi.

Crazy zigzagging layout takes you thru a massive produce section to the deli/cheez counter, to meat/fish, then specialty dept. along the perimeter and regular grocery inside. Very crowded weekends.

Sep 02 2006 01:11 PM

Thanks, will have to try it. We had been doing Fresh Direct (we live close enough to the warehouse to just go and pick it up there) but I miss the whole going-to-the-store expierence when doing that.

Unless, of course, you happen to live in walking distance to FreshDirect and your alternative is that diseased C-town on 21st. I useta represent LIC too.

No offense, but I couldn't live in LIC. I'd go nuts. There's nothing there.

We're in Greenpoint. The Red Hook store is tempting because I could either drive or just take the B61 if I'm so inclined.

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 02 2006 10:55 PM

Oh, I see. I'm in Greenpoint too (ustabe in LIC).

This is getting creepy.

LIC at least has a bar where they play the Mets on TV and serve burgers. Greenpoint could use one of those.

I'm not worried unless you live in my building or something. (Franklin St. between Calyer and Oak).

A bar that serves food would be nice. Personally I'm excited about the bagel store and the new "Italian Sandwich Shop" that is opening around the corner fro me.

I thought you mighta been the next-door neighbor I never talk to. Whew.

I'm on Freeman between Manhattan & Franklin.

Mug's is my favorite "local" beer& burgers & Mets bar, but sorta a hike. I've also been known to watch to Met games, drink beer and eat wings at Teddy's.

Got you all beat -

Friday - Wake up at 4:00 am in order to get to the airport and catch a 7:00 am flight with my sister from JFK to Oakland, CA. Without getting into details - it was not a pleasent trip.
Saturday - 1:00 pm flight from Oakland back to JFK (yes we landed smack-dab in the middle of the apocalypse). Arrive home at 11:00 pm to find three humongous trees down in my backyard and the cable TV is out (horrors!).
Sunday - Attend a bris at my brother-in-law's house in CT where there was no electricity.
Monday - Completely dead on my feet all day with the wife obssessing (as she is pms-ing) on getting the kids ready for their first day of school today.

I've never been more happy to be back in the office.

P.S. Cooby - are the orange scrubs still available?

MFS62
Sep 05 2006 12:28 PM

I was flat on my arse from Sunday night through Monday. Must have been the 24 hour flu. I couldn't even sit up long enough to check my PC for email. And it took me about 10 minutes to chew and swallow one piece of toast.
Needless to say, this was not one of my all time favorite three day weekends.
