Interesting in that A. Hernandez gets a spot start at SS -- while they still had designs on him as an everydayer at 2B, Woody woulda gotten that spot.

I like the fact that I didn't go OH F*** S*** when I didn't see Reyes SS in the leadoff spot!

Encouraging inning from Hirsh.

Rockin' Doc Sep 02 2006 07:13 PM |
It's great to have Cliff back. Hopefully, he'll be rested and ready for the October.

KC Sep 02 2006 07:14 PM |
They said Cliff hit two dingers yesterday at St. Lucie ... bang pow!

I guess Maine doesn't run the bases very often.
|
martin Sep 02 2006 07:36 PM |
i dont understand that call, is the claim that maine ran in so the throw to first would hit him? i dont get it.
|
SwitchHitter Sep 02 2006 07:40 PM |
Ran out of the basepaths. I dont' think he was trying to be hit. I dunno. I have it on radio.

Astros apparently do not like having the fewest errors in the league.

KC, my broadcasters say that your bar & grill brought a party to the game.

Hirsh is really earning his unearned runs.
|
SwitchHitter Sep 02 2006 08:36 PM |
I was at his ML debut. He got out of a bases-loaded jam in the 3rd, only to give up 3 HR in the 4th. He earned that 8+ ERA, too.

It's easy to mention this now, but Qualls is actually a better pitcher against lefties than Miller is. I love it when the kneejerk move is the wrong one.

From the replay, it looked like he stepped up on the base of the padding (about a foot off the ground) and may have caught his spikes in the wire fence or bruised it on the fence. He then turned around and made the throw back to the infield and didn't seem to have immediate discomfort. But he then went to the ground ans stayed there a while before limping off the field. The expression on his face when he was going down the ramp from the dugout to the clubhouse didn't look encouraging.
