That guy that walks around for SNY just said that Cliff's tendon thing is
bugging him again.

ScarletKnight41
Sep 04 2006 06:36 PM

Keep him in bubble wrap as long as he needs it.

That's why we have Endy Chavez.

Just an email about Wright from a friend of mine who was at the Beltran cyclone fence game...

I was within 10 feet of him before the game yesterday. He's a class act. After BP he was
walking back to the dugout wearing his glove on his head and a kid yelled, "Hey Mr. Wright,
will you sign my ball'. Most big leaguers, especially one with his stature, would have continued on
into the dugout. Wright motioned for the kid to throw him the ball over the dugout, then motioned
for him to throw him his pen. He signed it and tossed the ball back. The next 10 - 15 minutes was
spent with other kids tossing him their balls, him signing them, then tossing them back. He easily
signed over 50 balls in that short span of time. When he was done he tossed the pen back to the
original kid then disappeared into the dugout. I caught it all on video tape. I've been to alot of games
over the years and never seen a star player take the time to do that. Classy guy.

Trax walks one in the first, but he gets the double play to end the first.

Now let's hammer James! If we can get to Atlanta's overtaxed pen, we're in Schaefer City!

Cleon - that's a nice story. It's always great to hear about the guys who get it and who treat the fans well :)

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 07:18 PM

Trax walks one in the 1st, but a DP ends the inning.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 07:23 PM

Chuck James sets em down 1-2-3.

2 pop ups and a K of Delgado.

So Floyds tender again?
I really hope he gets 100%.
I want to see him hittin in the post season.

Sep 04 2006 07:34 PM

David Wright just misses a home run to left to lead off the second, but he gets gunned out at second by plenty.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 07:34 PM

Aside from another walk(to Francouer), Trachsel has a nice second.

Nice to see David Wright out of his hitting funk but not nice to see him thrown out at 2nd.

He smacked the ball off the wall in left, but he is cut down going for the duece.

Rockin' Doc wrote:

He did just miss one there.
Looked like his hand came off and it ended as a one handed swing.
And it was a bullet to the wall.

Good quick play by Diaz in left, but Wright could have been running just a lil harder.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 07:40 PM

Ew---very ugly play by Delgado on the grounder to 1st off Aybar.
A lead off error reaches.

Then a bunt by the pitcher James gets by Wright and everyones safe!

And then another bunt played off the mound by Trax, and he spins to throw and falls- all safe.......

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 07:42 PM

Shoddy defense puts the first two hitters on for the Braves. Now Trachsel falls down trying to field a bunt. The Braves have attempted two consecutive sac bunts that both go for hits as the Mets field like Keystone Cops. Sacs drunk with Braves and Renteria coming up.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 07:42 PM

All three plays should have been outs^

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 07:43 PM

Renteria bloops a single into left to drive in the first run of the game. Still no outs.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 07:43 PM

Renteria makes us pay with a single to left center.
Only one run scores though..............

bases still juiced.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 07:46 PM

Zvon - "All three plays should have been outs"

Without a doubt.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 07:46 PM

LaRoche flies to left center for the sac fly that makes it 2-0.

Cant let Jones make this a big inning.
Shut em down Trax.

seawolf17
Sep 04 2006 07:48 PM

Ah, the DP... the pitcher's best friend. Only 2 runs.

ScarletKnight41
Sep 04 2006 07:48 PM

Fugly inning, but the damage is limited to 2 runs.

Time to get them back!

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 07:49 PM

Dp gets the Mets out of the inning before it got too ugly.

2-0 Braves with the Mets coming to the home half of the third.

Especially the grounder to Delgado to open the inning.
The bunt that got by Wright--he was being over agressive.
The bunt to Trax was just a mix up - Wright was under aggresive there, lol.

A big DP stops the bleeding-

2-0 Braves.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 08:09 PM

Braves living dangerously and pitching to Wright with Reyes at third with no outs. I guess you can't walk Wright to bring the go ahead run to the plate.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 08:10 PM

And it works as Wright flies weakly to Andruw Jones in left center.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 08:10 PM

James walks Reyes to start off the 4th.
He steals second during Delgados at bat but the Mets cant get him home as Wright battles James for 9 pitches and pops out to center.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 08:15 PM

Trachsel walks pitcher James to lead off the fifth. Throw some strikes, damn it.

Frayed Knot
Sep 04 2006 08:18 PM

Suggesting a trade of today's Atlanta 2nd baseman to the Dodgers for one of their young outfielders would be an Ethier-Orr proposition.

Rockin' Doc wrote:

Walks can kill.

A wild pitch moves James to second and a groundout to second moves him to third.
1 out- Renteria...........

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 08:20 PM

Now he walks Renteria. Runners at the corners with one out and LaRoche hitting.

ScarletKnight41
Sep 04 2006 08:21 PM

Now it's 3-0, with Braves on 1st and 2nd :(

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 08:22 PM

Trachsel walks Renteria- thats his 5th base on balls.

And the red hot LaRoche hits a beebee thru the hole into right for the Braves 3rd run of the game.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 08:22 PM

LaRoche singles through the right side of the infield.

Braves now lead 3-0. Trachsel struggling from the first pitch on.

SteveJRogers
Sep 04 2006 08:23 PM

Not the way you want to solidify your position as the Game 3 starter Trash!

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 08:24 PM

Trax walks A.Jones. Thats 6 free passes.

Looks like this is not gonna be Trachsels night.

ScarletKnight41
Sep 04 2006 08:24 PM

Now the bases are loaded with one out :(

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 08:24 PM

This is like watching a damn midget league game where everyone just stands in the box holding a bat until they get a walk. Then when somebody does finally put a pitch in play, no one can field it and make a play.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 08:26 PM

Trax is up to 86 pitches.
It would be nice to get 6 innings from him.......
But he's gotta get outta this 1st.

Bases bulging-1 out.

ScarletKnight41
Sep 04 2006 08:27 PM

Fuckshit! Trax walks in a run.

Now comes in Heath Bell to pour gasoline on the fire....

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 08:28 PM

Trachsel walks in a run. Fourth walk of the inning and now he gets to be first in the showers. Absolutely, horrible outing from Trachsel.

He walks in a run as McCann takes ball four, and Willie has seen enough.

Considering the Braves havent had to hit a ball hard to score 4 runs, I agree.

Sep 04 2006 08:32 PM

Heath Bell throws cold water on the Braves rally.

Time for a rally!

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 08:32 PM

Nice play by Bell on the dribbler to the mound.
He gets LaRoche at the plate for the force.

And Bell does his job as he gets Diaz to pop out to center.
Good show Heath.

martin
Sep 04 2006 08:33 PM

i know heath bell has never been thin, but he is looking like he is really putting on weight. i remember before last year he said rollerbladed from his house to spring training every day and had lost weight. looks like he is getting big again. i would say he is a lazy and should lose weight, but i am not convinced weight is a negative for a pitcher.

I think some weight around the middle aint a bad thing for a pitcher.
Maybe Bells uni is a tad too tight, cuz he keeps pulling at it in all the usual joints.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 08:39 PM

Only Andreugh Jones can look smoother than Beltran out there in center.

Hat him!

He's actually been pretty consistant recently in so far as he'll give up 3 to 6 runs but the Mets score more.
Trax has been lucky.
He has pitched well though-well enough that he's one of the least of my post season pitching worries.
I feel I know what we are gonna get out of Trachsel.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 08:58 PM

Mets have only managed 1 hit off the young rook Chuck James.

Can this Met lineup get one hit for two games in a row?
Cant let that happen...........

Ring in for Bell.

Will that happen in the post-season though when you are facing the best pitchers?,I think not.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 09:01 PM

Two nice plays by the Mets there-
Valentin robs LaRoche up the middle and Wright with a nice snag of the grounder by Jones.

Zvon

Trachsel will have to step it up then.
He has it in him.

I hope the post season rejuvinates the whole team in that way-
Id like to see em pumped and focused.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 09:06 PM

The Mets offense really seems to miss Beltran in the three hole. As long as he and Cliff Floyd are healthy and ready to go in the post season, the offense should be fine.

The starting pitching is my concern for post season.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 09:09 PM

fuck that Delgado shift.

Mets have not been shut out at home this whole season.

Jones with the shoestring catch off Wright. Hat him!

Green grounds out weakly.

Come on guys!!!!!!

ScarletKnight41
Sep 04 2006 09:15 PM

Ring is kind of thick in the legs also, isn't he?

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 09:16 PM

Ring lookin good.
Two perfect innings.

Unite-
Assemble-

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 09:17 PM

At least he (and Bell) can find the plate tonight. As soon as our pitchers made the Braves actually earn a base, their offense has stalled. Walks kill, that shouldn't be so hard to learn.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 09:21 PM

Dagdoodies-I thought Val got all a that--he flies out to the warning track in deep left.

15 fly outs instigated by Chuck James so far, and thats an indication of how ON he is, being a fly ball pitcher.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 04 2006 09:28 PM

I miss Nady.

Ill be happy just to ruin the shut out.

Mr Franco Ks.

Looks like he may get tossed here...........

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 09:39 PM

But he dont-just gets afew words in the umps ear.

Reyes with a run off strikeout.
That was stylish.

Zvon
Sep 04 2006 09:42 PM

OW!
LoDuca Ks to end it.

Well, all teams have a bunch of games like this during the long season.

Shame its the Braves that are the 1st team to shut out the Mets at home this year.

My favorite WFAN call of the night:
Met batters didn't hit tonight because they sub-conciously wanted to see how
Trachsel would fare without the usual generous run support he's been getting

Tonight's rock 'n' roll wrapup:

The Angels start late hosting Baltimore, Jack
Jered Weaver tryin’ to get back on track
In San Diego, the home runs are flowin’
It can be that way when Fogg is throwin’ (In New York…)

Marcus Giles has a healthy heart
Marcus Giles has a healthy heart
Freakin’ Trachsel finally lost a start
And Marcus Giles has a healthy heart

The Marlins trailed by five but beat the Snakes
The Tigers won 6-2 with Magglio
Ortiz shut down the Cards with few mistakes
Big Twinkie win, but then the D-Rays blow (The Braves say…)

Marcus Giles has a healthy heart
Marcus Giles has a healthy heart
Don’t want to haul him in a medic’s cart
Marcus Giles has a healthy heart

Toronto beat the Injuns, four to three
The Brews, they stopped a ten game losing streak
The Cubs they’re stinking like a pond of pee
Lost to Pittsburgh, who wins once a week

Marcus Giles has a healthy heart
Marcus Giles has a healthy heart
Play’n’ with arrhythmia just isn’t smart
But Marcus Giles has a healthy heart

Carlos Peña earned his Red Sox coin
The Rangers beat the A’s with Nelson Cruz
The Astros fell as Clemens strained his groin
I still love to see that pitcher lose (The big news..)

Marcus Giles has a healthy heart
Marcus Giles has a healthy heart
The Jints and Reds were just a blip on the chart
But Marcus Giles has a healthy heart

i took my daughter to this game. It was a lovely night, and we had free tix in the upper deck behind home. And despite the crapitude of the game, she insisted on staying till the final out.
