Text message your answer to "Who should be the Mets MVP?"
|
seawolf17 Sep 07 2006 08:10 PM |
Baby Aspirin should get a sip or two of Schaefer from me tonight.
|
Willets Point Sep 07 2006 08:19 PM |
Aspirin and alcohol are a bad combo for the liver.
|
KC Sep 07 2006 08:27 PM |
Quiet everyone!!! Tommy Lasorda is speaking. Shhhhh.
|
Willets Point Sep 07 2006 08:28 PM |
Nice catch by Reyes but the SNY crew are laying it on a bit too thick in their appreciation.

I thought it was Beltran's ball.

That too.

KC Sep 07 2006 08:37 PM |
Hey SNY, there's a game on ... now we gotta hear an interview with Rick.
|
Willets Point Sep 07 2006 08:39 PM |
They could have a show called "Ten Minutes with Rick Peterson."

Must resist the urge to go on an Anti-Lasorda rant...

Is it just me or does Penny look like Lowe?
|
ScarletKnight41 Sep 07 2006 08:44 PM |
Lowe isn't nearly that chunky.
|
Willets Point Sep 07 2006 08:48 PM |
He must be drinking lite beer.

Meanwhile, Jose Reyes hits an inside-the-park homer to make the score 7-0.

If you notice, the GIF I posted features runners.

Reyes actually slowed down a bit between first and second. He could have made it all the way back around to first again.
|
MFS62 Sep 07 2006 09:07 PM |
|
We were posting at the same time. I didn't see it when I wrote that. The only thing that would have made that better would have been if Jose had spiked Fecal on his way around the bases. Later
|
ScarletKnight41 Sep 07 2006 09:10 PM |
Once again Reyes gets greedy in the field, but this time he drops the ball. Nice D by Wright keeps the runner at first, but a single puts Dodgers at first and second with one out in the 7th. The Shea faithful, appreciative of everything else Reyes has done tonight, gives him a nice ovation despite the error.
|
Willets Point Sep 07 2006 09:10 PM |
Fecal - oh yuck!
|
seawolf17 Sep 07 2006 09:11 PM |
And Guillermo Mota comes in to face Toby Hall, giving us the rare GameCast appearance of a guy in an Indians hat facing a guy in a Devil Rays hat during a Mets-Dodgers game.
|
Willets Point Sep 07 2006 09:15 PM |
Gamecast is creative sports coverage. Somedays they should just feed random facts into the gamecast and see how many people notice.
|
ScarletKnight41 Sep 07 2006 09:17 PM |
There was a substitution at the plate after Mota came into the game. Perhaps that accounts for the discrepancy?
|
KC Sep 07 2006 09:26 PM |
Ya ever cough up a furball? It's pretty disgusting. Er, uh, or so I've heard.
|
ScarletKnight41 Sep 07 2006 09:32 PM |
It seems like almost every Dodger hit has come with two out.
|
KC Sep 07 2006 09:43 PM |
Guess that's a no.
|
Willets Point Sep 07 2006 09:43 PM |
Let it be recorded for posterity that Reyes rounded the bases in 14.81 seconds. It takes me longer to walk to the kitchen to get a beer.
|
Johnny Dickshot Sep 07 2006 09:43 PM |
Not to pee all over a 7-run, 8th-inning lead at home, but there have been 3 or 4 goofs tonite we won't get away with in the postseason:
|
ScarletKnight41 Sep 07 2006 09:47 PM |
|
What's a no?
|
Willets Point Sep 07 2006 09:48 PM |

That you never coughed up a furball.
|
ScarletKnight41 Sep 07 2006 09:51 PM |

That would be correct.

The mentality of the Met fan, I guess. My father was talking to me tonight about being nervous about the pitching. You know guys this team will easily win 100 games. Saying the World series in inevitable is a stretch, but damn we are sitting pretty as October gets closer and closer.

Of course, Willets' kitchen is in Dubuque, Iowa.

I'm an optimist. I just generally recommend against making bad baserunning decisions in the first inning.

I just saw the hightlights and yea- it was awsum. And he did slow down there as he watched the ball hit the wall...... but he was about to round second as the ball hit the wall. And then he went into overdrive. I think the inside the park homer is certainly a kaboom. A kaboom plus. A kaploom.

Edgy DC Sep 08 2006 12:43 AM |
Houston also threw some crappy outfielding out there last series.
