Scoreless streak ends at 25 innings.

A Wright error with the sacks packed makes it 2-0 Dodgers going to the bottom of the first.

Looks like its up to me.

My 1st IGT, and before I started it the Mets were already losing.
Not the way to start.

Maine has a rocky 1st inning.
Couplea singles, a walk--
but an error by Wright, a bad throw on a grounder that could have got the Mets out of the inning, is how the Dodgers score to open the game.

Maine did strikeout 2 in the first.

2-0, LA

Yea- on an error.
Blah!

Zvon
Sep 08 2006 07:34 PM

Reyes walks- is moved over by LoDuca,
and is thrown out trying to steal 3rd.
It was an excellent throw by LA catcher Martin that nabs him.

Stealing 3rd down by 2 runs with Beltran at the plate.....mmmmm....I dunno.

That just makes me think about how much better Jose Reyes is going to be once he learns how to really play the game.

He's a terrific player now based on raw skill and talent. Once he has a couple more years of mistakes and experience to learn by...the sky's the limit.

Maine strolls through the second inning with 8 pitches.

Zvon
Sep 08 2006 07:43 PM

The Dodgers just had the fastest half inning in the history of the game in the 2nd.

I looked down to type and the inning was over.
1-2-3.

Valadius
Sep 08 2006 07:45 PM

And now... the Green Monster!!!

OlerudOwned
Sep 08 2006 07:48 PM

The second inning contained a total of 18 pitches.

Six up, Six down.

We go to the 3rd.

Argh, home runs for Furcal and Garciaparra.

4-0 Superbas.

Zvon
Sep 08 2006 08:21 PM

Fucal goes yard against Maine.
Deep center.
Man, he got his arms extended on that swing.

And Garciappara smacks one out to left.

Mets down 4-0.

Oh noooooooooooo-whew---Beltran robs a homer from of JD Drew.

Yikes!

If the Mets come back and win, I want credit for 2 IGT wins for having the gonads to start an IGT when the Mets were already losing 2-0.

Zvon
Sep 08 2006 08:23 PM

Hey Val, could you please post (or PM me ) the link to that cartoon.
I get no sound here...
Id like to watch it with sound and bookmark it as well.

Woody and Lastings let me down.

Edgy DC
Sep 08 2006 08:34 PM

Nope, DP.

Ralph Kiner's season ends, and I missed it all.

TransMonk
Sep 08 2006 08:36 PM

Woody and Milledge don't give me anymore confidence against lefties than Valentin and Chavez.

Valadius
Sep 08 2006 08:37 PM

Oliver? What?

Zvon
Sep 08 2006 08:39 PM

Wow-
Maine out- Oliver in.

Pitching spot in the lineup leads off next inning.
Guess they didnt want to squeeze one more out of Maine.

And Oliver is greeted with a double.

Valadius
Sep 08 2006 08:42 PM

Goddammit.

D-Wright smacks a double.

Zvon
Sep 08 2006 09:07 PM

lol--that Mr Met thing.
I think I like it better when he throws em instead of shootin em out of that air gun (like he did tonight).

Sep 08 2006 09:09 PM

Since you couldn't get sound Zvon, you probably missed it - for the 7th inning stretch I posted that clip, which starts with Mr. Met leading "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".

Luckily I was singin it over here.

Come on Milledge- hit the freakin ball.
He grounds out.
Broxton on for LA.

Leedee will pinch hit.

Valadius
Sep 08 2006 09:17 PM

Who pitches the 9th tonight?

Zvon
Sep 08 2006 09:21 PM

Leedee walks-
And Reyes hits into a DP.
Nope- not our night.

Bradford should get the 9th.

It would have.
Bradford pitches well in his 62nd appearence this season.

And the Mets have 1 inning left to pull off some magic.

Zvon
Sep 08 2006 09:39 PM

And they do.

Mets get beat 5-0-
a game LA needed much more than the Mets.

Phils are winning 3-1, Ryan Howard hitting homeruns 55 and 56.

Zvon
Sep 08 2006 09:42 PM

Im not used to being in a position like this.
I dont mind if the Mets lose as long as no one gets hurt.

Maybe I felt like that in 86 and 88, but I dont remember.

I just watched the Bugs cartoon.
Man-I hadnt seen that for many many many years.
That is a classic.

The place looks like Skankee Stadium, but they say its the Polo Grounds.
And the catch on top of the Empire State Building - I 4got about that, lol.

That cartoon is the highlight of this poor IGT Valadius.
Thanks for sharing that.

That game pretty much sucked live too. LIke I was peeing yesterday, the Mets aren't always going to get away making shitty plays, no matter how often they do. That whole first inning oughta be a do-over, first with the crappy fielding, then with Reyes' absurd steal attempt. I don;t care if he was safe, or looked safe dumb dumb dumb if you don;t make it.

Kuo after that made the Mets look absolutely horrible and deserved the win.

Maine gives up too many homers.

Sweet Caroline sucks. I can't believe they don;t at least change it the f up once in a while. But no matter, the Mets took the crowd out of it early and there was barely a reason to raise voices since. Bleh.

Crappy ending to my 6-pack.

Huh?

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 08 2006 11:07 PM

I peed on yesterday's win because it contained some of the same goofs that would cost us tonight, and said so.

The diff tonite was a real CFer (and better Pitching too). We still played like crap.

What a stinking pile of shit. Dodger fans in my section too. Insult to injury, walking home across the Pulaski Bridge we get caught as the bridge goes up.

The "Do the Wave" graphic was back on Diamondvision -- in the THIRD INNING! Down 2-0!

Almost as infuriating as a mostly dead crowd -- announced attendance over 52,000 -- suddenly coming to life for fucking Sweet fucking Caroline.

Fuck the guy responsible for the between-inning stuff on the scoreboard.

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 08 2006 11:16 PM

I was the guy in the Wright jersey, blue hat.

Do you get off at Court Square or Vernon/Jackson to change to the bus?

I always did the Vernon/Jackson connection because I come home from work that way, but after aborting my trip to Shea on Tuesday (got the message as soon as I got out of the tunnel) and getting off at Court Square I think that migh tbe faster.

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 08 2006 11:56 PM

I always get off at Court Square, but mostly because I can't wait to get off the train (this is only worth the effort in you're in the very 1st train car btw). Lucky tonight in that the bus was only a minute from arriving -- can be as many as 13 or 15.

Is that Michael Kay on the mike for the Gashouse Gorrillas?

Yancy Street Gang
Sep 09 2006 08:44 AM

Ralph mentioned that when he played there were no warning tracks.

That surprised me. I realize I know nothing about the history of the warning track. Where was the first one? When did they become standard? Are they mandated?

Anyone know?

Also, judging from the uniforms the Dodgers were wearing, it looks like the National League rule that player names be on the back of home uniforms has either been repealed or is being ignored.
