Confession, Baseball Style

I miss pennant races. Listening to the Braves announcers talking about the wild card chase last night made me jealous.

That is why I cherish 1973 more than 1986

I won't be happy until the Braves announcers are no longer talking about the wild card chase.

Nothing is quite the same as a down to the wire race. Problem is your team doesn't always win. Nobody liked 1987 more than 1986, did they? I happy to coast into the playoffs. It's better for my work place productivity too!

My Baseball Confession:

I have a very hard time with the Mets uniforms.

I enjoyed October of 1986 more than any other October.

But as for April through September, I enjoyed 1985 a whole lot more.

1999 was my favourite season as a Mets fan,,not only was it my first taste of a good Mets team but it was capped by winning the WC,those final few weeks were a roller coaster...and torture.

Not me, but I have that embroidered on a little pillow I hug at night

I had the 24 hour flu yesterday, and those last three posts did not help my nausea one little bit.

When I first came here from Tipperary I sported a MFY cap for a time, I soon saw the error of my ways.

In 1996, I rooted for the Yankees to win the World Series. There were extenuating circumstances. I lived in Virginia among Braves bandwagoners who drove me nuts and it had been decades since the Yankees had had any success. What's one little World Championship? The Yankees continued success -- and the almost certainty they will win it all again this year in dominating fashion -- are my harsh penance.

You're the one whose wish is fulfilled.

Wow, yes Willets, they have certainly responded to your wishes!

My wish is that the Mets win the World Series this year as the start of 5 decades of Mets baseball dominance. Do you think that wish can come true and I can stop being punished for once rooting for the Yankees when I was young and foolish?

I've always hated the MFYs. Well, almost always. For a short time -- Reggie, Mickey Rivers, Chris Chambliss -- I almost kinda liked 'em. And I was at the '77 Series game when Reggie hit three home runs.

Well, I was a Yankees fan once. But I have an excuse: the Mets didn't exist at the time (and the Dodgers and Giants had left town). But after the 64 series, I decided the Mets were more fun.

The late 70's Yankees were fun especially compared to today's corporate, market-tested Yankees.
