Here's the 1986 Mets Reunion Ceremony from last month, in 4 parts. Whoever posted it disabled embedding, so instead I'm forced to link them:

is it me, or in the first video, do they have the David Wright barehander from last year? or did that happen this year, too?

Valadius
Sep 08 2006 12:02 PM

Sure looks like last year's bare-hander. But as far as I can tell, that's the only non-2006 thing in there.

I've seen this before, and it's great:

I'm answering my own question. I found the game the Gary Carter Ivory Soap commercial came from:

September 17, 1986. Mets win, 4-2 against the Cubs. Dennis Eckersley leaves after 4.1 innings down 3-0, with Guy Hoffman replacing him.

We HAVE to invite these guys to join the Pool. There's a website out there called Meet the Matts, which has a bunch of hysterical Metly-themed videos created by a couple of Mets fans. Here's a sampling:

Best part of it was Lindsey Nelson thanking Frank Messer and Bill White for letting him join them in the studio, and Messer saying something to the effect of how he'd love to return if, at some point in the future, Dave Righetti or Jose Rijo were playing at some far-flung location working on their 300th win.

This is a one-camera technique. They keep the camera trained on Wally for the answers. They later repeat the questions in a broad two-shot and edit it together as if there were two cameras all along, but they do such a bad job of it that the background hiss changes every time there's an answer.

Yes. KC and Johnny and I enjoyed his talk, which began (as is his custom) with "I AM standing up." (He's tiny.) Oddly, his name came up at dinner following the play I saw last night--he was offered the chance to audition as the "Bob Murphy" character, but turned the part down (according to the director) and offered some rewrite suggestions which were all incorporated into the script.
