Enjoy. I don't know who made this, but it's great:

Here's the 1986 Mets Reunion Ceremony from last month, in 4 parts. Whoever posted it disabled embedding, so instead I'm forced to link them:

is it me, or in the first video, do they have the David Wright barehander from last year? or did that happen this year, too?
|
Valadius Sep 08 2006 12:02 PM |
Sure looks like last year's bare-hander. But as far as I can tell, that's the only non-2006 thing in there.
|
Valadius Sep 08 2006 12:26 PM |
I've seen this before, and it's great:

What's the song on the first video?

Someone posted this with the title "The Way the Mets are Batting Right Now". It cracked me up:
|
Valadius Sep 08 2006 04:16 PM |
And now... the Gary Carter Ivory Soap commercial!
|
Zvon Sep 08 2006 05:08 PM |
I never get any sound out of these - I do at U-tube but not here when they are posted.

Actually, I believe someone did this in a different thread. Gimmie a minute to go diggin'.

This sweet little time capsule of late '80s pop culture not only contains Keef and Mookie, but four NY Giants players.
|
ScarletKnight41 Sep 09 2006 09:10 PM |
Man - I haven't seen that one in years! Great stuff :)
|
Valadius Sep 09 2006 09:24 PM |
Oh wow... I haven't seen that since I was a toddler!
|
Valadius Sep 09 2006 09:46 PM |
I'm answering my own question. I found the game the Gary Carter Ivory Soap commercial came from:

Johnny Dickshot Sep 09 2006 09:49 PM |

We've been through that too: It was their division-clincher.

Heartbreakingly poorly raised and exploited seven-year-old.

We HAVE to invite these guys to join the Pool. There's a website out there called Meet the Matts, which has a bunch of hysterical Metly-themed videos created by a couple of Mets fans. Here's a sampling:

A song that was pretty much every bit as good as that of the cartoon, and a lot of fun to sing during pillow fights.

how bittersweet. my favorite met (wearing a halloween costume) pitching a no no. if/when a met pitches a no no, i have a feeling that the tri-state area will be swamped with 911 calls about husbands/boyfriends balling their brains out for no other reason than watching a ballgame.
|
Edgy DC Feb 18 2007 06:14 AM |
That's win number 300, not his no-hitter.
|
patona314 Feb 18 2007 06:23 AM |
my bad. i should have realized that his no no was with the red stockings (in cincinnati of course)
|
Edgy DC Feb 18 2007 09:50 AM |
Best part of it was Lindsey Nelson thanking Frank Messer and Bill White for letting him join them in the studio, and Messer saying something to the effect of how he'd love to return if, at some point in the future, Dave Righetti or Jose Rijo were playing at some far-flung location working on their 300th win.

1.What the fuck?
|
Edgy DC Feb 19 2007 07:57 AM |
This is a one-camera technique. They keep the camera trained on Wally for the answers. They later repeat the questions in a broad two-shot and edit it together as if there were two cameras all along, but they do such a bad job of it that the background hiss changes every time there's an answer.

Official Mets tribute to Seaver.....extra points if you can name the singer
|
soupcan Mar 01 2007 10:19 AM |
I heard Barbara Streisand, Liza Minella and even possibly Bette Midler in there, but I'll take a gamble and say it was Glenn Close.

Oh, then its got to be Suzyn Waldman.
|
metirish Mar 02 2007 07:56 AM |
Yep it is Suzyn....was she a WFAN talkie back then?...
|
cooby Mar 02 2007 08:04 AM |
I have heard it said that it is Suzyn Waldman singing "Lets Go Mets" on the radio broadcasts...is that what the song is on the Seaver tribute? (I haven't watched it yet)

Can you show me a clip of Harry Reems unable to get it up now?
|
Johnny Dickshot Jun 10 2007 10:17 AM |
He gave a surprisingly good talk at the SABR meeting a few years ago. Knows his old-timey Washington Senators baseball. Great footage... 79?
|
iramets Jun 10 2007 10:20 AM |
Yes. KC and Johnny and I enjoyed his talk, which began (as is his custom) with "I AM standing up." (He's tiny.) Oddly, his name came up at dinner following the play I saw last night--he was offered the chance to audition as the "Bob Murphy" character, but turned the part down (according to the director) and offered some rewrite suggestions which were all incorporated into the script.
