as suggested often by mfs62.

I'm not into skool spirit or nothing, but my kollege fite song rocks so hard it makes me wanna fight.

It goes like this:

]And then we'll fight! fight! fight! for Delaware,
Fight for the Blue and Gold!
And when we hit that line,
Our team is there
with a daring spirit bold!
And when we strike with might
Let foes beware
Our glorious name we'll uphold
And then we'll fight! fight! fight! for Delaware,
Fight for the Blue and Gold!

Delaware will shine to-night,
Delaware will shine.
When the sun goes down and
the moon comes up,
Delaware will shine.

And then we'll fight! fight! fight! for Delaware...

(Blushing) - I never knew we had one. That's what happens when you don't have a football team and marching band. All we ever used was the "Alagaroo" cheer at basketball games. But here it is anyhow. I had to look it up.
]
C.C.N.Y. See the battle through! Oh, can't you see,
C.C.N.Y. We're always all for you.
Valiant men of Lavender and Black,
We'll send you forth to battle,
And we'll always bring you back.
Keep courage, men, the battle's just begun,
So fight! Fight! Fight! until we've won!
C.C.N.Y. skies are turning blue,
Get in and fight for we're all for you.
Some day they're gonna get it from C.C.N.Y.
'N why not, Right now.
Some day they're gonna take it from C.C.N.Y.
'N why not, Right now.
The Beavers are busy, But the foe will be busier.
We'll toss 'em around and around and around
Till they can't be any dizzier.
They're gonna get it, They've gotta take it,
'Cause we're gonna give it right now.

And now you know why it isn't too familiar, even to grads.

]When the bold, teams of old
Wore the Blue and White,
Deeds of fame, made their name,
Here at old Columbia.
Nowadays we can praise
Fighting teams again.
Hear the lion roar in pride,
While the men of Morningside
Follow the Blue and White to Vict'ry...

Roar, Lion, Roar
And wake the echoes of the Hudson Valley!
Fight on to victory evermore,
While the sons of Knickerbocker rally round
Columbia! Columbia!
Shouting her name forever!
Roar, Lion, Roar
For Alma Mater on the Hudson Shore!

]Though memory fades and friends be few, we'll love thee still, our alma mater, our dear old NYU.

Isn't that uplifting?

]March, men of Rutgers,
Down the field today,
March to another score,
Foward to the fray,
Fight! men of Rutgers
As in days gone by,
Fight! for the Scarlet flag
Over the rest must fly.
Chorus:
Keep Rutgers colors to the fore,
For they must win so fight, fight, fight!
And we'll advance some more to score,
The Rutgers flag flies high tonight, alright, alright.
We'll fling the Scarlet banner out,
And Rutgers men will fight, fight, fight!
The bells of Queens each victr'y shout,
The bells of Queens must ring tonight.
R! U! RAH! RAH! R! U! RAH! RAH! RAH!
HOORAH! HOORAH! RUTGERS! RAH! RAH!
FIGHT! TEAM! UP! STREAM!
UP! STREAM! RED! TEAM! RAH! RAH! RUTGERS! RAH!

Go Freakin' Rutgers!

"Down the Field"

Out upon the gridiron stands old Syracuse,
Warriors clad in orange and in blue,
Fighting for the fame of Alma Mater.
Soon those Crouse chimes will be ringing,
Soon you'll hear those fellows singing.
Onondaga's braves are out to win today,
The sons of Syracuse are ready for the fray,
The line holds like a wall and now the Orange has the ball,
So ready for that old long yell. Rah! Rah! Rah!

Chorus:
Down, Down the field goes old Syracuse,
Just see those backs hit the line and go thru';
Down, down the field they go marching,
Fighting for the Orange staunch and true.
Rah! Rah! Rah!
Vict'ry's in sight for old Syr-a-cuse,
Each loyal son knows she ne'er more will lose,
For we'll fight, yes, we'll fight, and with all our might
For the glory of old Syracuse.

I don't think Manhattan had one, but we invented the seventh-inniing stretch.

Maybe I'll write one.

That'll be a stretch.

EDIT: If you google "Manhattan College Fight Song" you'll get a link to one. It was written in 1938.

Tonight I'm going
To New York City
The place I'll call my home
And tonight I'm going
Where the climate's shitty
Where I won't feel so alone

And I will build it
Up right from the ground
With my own bare hands
Until the sun doth set
On the silhouette
Of this broken promise land

Tonight I'm leaving
For Old Manhattan
The place where I was born
And I will fight for hope
Like a peaceful baron
With Broadway lights forlorn

And as the buildings weep
I will not sleep
Until I dry their tears
And I will not rest
'Til east and west
Side thunder with the cheers
For the land we hold so dear

I'll build it up
Right from the ground
With my own bare hands
'Til the sun doth set
On the silhouette
Of this broken promise land

I never thought we had a fight song, being a more academically-oriented instution (translation: our athletic teams tend to suck). I would think a literal William & Mary Fight Song would be sung by men wearing bowler hats and orange sashes. Anyhow, according to a Google search, the fight song for the College of William & Mary is nice and racist, probably explaining why I never heard it:

"Tribe Fight Song"

Oh, we will fight fight fight for the Indians
When the Big Green team appears.
We will yell like hell for the Indians
And they will heed our mighty cheers.
We will lead our team on to victory
And give a shout for the Indians bold
We'll have a Touchdown, Touchdown, Indians!
And raise the Green and Gold!

Now, William & Mary students do sing and sing often, and these are the songs we sing, even if they're not fighting words:

Alma Mater
1. Hark the students' voices swelling,
Strong and true and clear,
Alma Mater's love they're telling,
Ringing far and near.
[Chorus]

2. All thy sons are faithful to thee,
Through their college days,
Singing loud from hearts that love thee,
Alma Mater's praise.
[Chorus]

3. Iron shod or golden sandaled,
Shall the years go by,
Still our hearts shall weave about thee,
Love that cannot die.
[Chorus]

4. God, our Father, hear our voices,
Listen to our cry,
Bless the college of our fathers,
Let her never die.
[Chorus]

Chorus
William and Mary loved of old,
Hark upon the gale,
Hear the thunder of our chorus,
Alma Mater hail!

AND

William and Mary Hymn

1. Beneath thy trees, within thy halls
Dear college we give praise to thee
To pledge ourselves, what-e'er befalls
To pledge unfailing loyalty
Our hearts are with thee, dear William and Mary
However far we stray
Our noble college, hear us now
Thy children sing to thee today

2. Dear college old in years and fame
And richly old in honors too
Time shall not dull the shining name
Whose gleam our songs will e'er renew
And as years go by, dear William and Mary
Thy fame will never cease
But each new year rejoice to see
Thy children's praise to thee increase

3. We honor thee, not for our gain
But to make known thy majesty
Thy truth and courage that remain
However harsh the fates may be
As through troublous years, dear William and Mary
Our country fought so thou hast fought
And won, and lived, and lived to hear
Thy children singing to thee now

4. O thou our guardian and our guide
Renew our courage ev'ry hour
And keep thy spirit by our side
To aid us with its watchful power
Throughout all our lives, dear William and Mary
We pledge our loyalty
Dear college now and ever-more
Thy children cry "All hail to thee!"

Of course, few if any students - including the choir - actually know all the words. Prior to the Tercentenary Celebration of 1993 these two songs were sung by the choir over and over for about an hour. The tunes are eternally burned upon my brain.

The official alma mater from my undergrad school:

Shine the sun down on her halls of wisdom,
where memories linger and our thoughts remain.
Sing her praises out across the valley,
that echoes our refrain:
Geneseo! Geneseo!
Send us on our way
Geneseo! Geneseo!
With our life's work we'll repay.

The alma mater from my current employer:

Sandy shore meeting the northern sea
Ancient ground where newborn dreams arise
Scarlet, gray, under azure skies
The morning of a lifetime lies in Stony Brook
Raise a grateful cheer for Stony Brook

Youthful joys, youthful folly, too
Ancient wisdom seen through youthful eyes
Lifelong friends bound by youthful ties
The morning of a lifetime lies in Stony Brook
Raise a grateful cheer for Stony Brook!

From Tom Lehrer;
]
Fight fiercely, Harvard, fight, fight, fight!
Demonstrate to them our skill.
Albeit they possess the might,
Nonetheless we have the will.

How we will celebrate our victory,
We shall invite the whole team up for tea. (How jolly!)
Hurl that spheroid down the field,
And fight, fight, fight!

Fight fiercely, Harvard, fight, fight, fight!
Impress them with our prowess, do!
Oh, fellas, do not let the crimson down,
Be of stout heart and true.

Come on, chaps, fight for Harvard's glorious name!
Won't it be peachy if we win the game? (Oh, goody!)
Let's try not to injure them,
But fight, fight, fight!
Let's not be rough, though!
Fight, fight, fight!
And do fight fiercely!
Fight, fight, fight!

Mine's the shortest, but has the most swear words.

]Auburn
"War Damn Eagle!"

War... Eagle, fly down the field.
Ever to conquer, never to yield.
War... Eagle, fearless and true.
Fight on, you orange and blue.
Go! Go! Go!
On to vict'ry, strike up the band.
Give 'em hell, give 'em hell;
Stand up and yell, Hey! War...Eagle win for Auburn,
Power of Dixie Land!

Rally sons of Notre Dame,
Sing her glory, and sound her fame
Raise her Gold and Blue,
And cheer with voices true,
Rah! Rah! For Notre Dame.
(HOO RAH RAH!)

We will fight in every game
Strong of heart and true to her name.
We will ne'er forget her
And we'll cheer her ever,
Loyal to Notre Dame.

Chorus:
Cheer, cheer for Old Notre Dame
Wake up the echoes cheering her name,
Send the volley cheer on high,
Shake down the thunder from the sky,
What though the odds be great or small
Old Notre Dame will win over all,
While her loyal sons are marching
Onward to Victory.

Ah! A perfect thread for a college student.

Hail to the Buff and Blue

Hail to the buff! (buff!)
Hail to the blue! (blue!)
Hail to the buff and blue!
All our lives we'll be proud to say,
We hail from GW! (go big blue!)
Oh by George we're happy we can say,
We're GW here to show the way!
So raise high the buff! (buff!)
Raise high the blue! (blue!)
Loyal to GW!
(You bet we're!)
Loyal to GW! (fight!)
