Three lefties and we do a complete Jacobsectomy in this series.

Glavine gets Miggy to bounce back into a double play.

Keith sounds a little under the weather, blocked nose sounds like.

TransMonk Sep 13 2006 07:28 PM |
The Braves suck...so we wait at least another day to clinch. 6 - 5 Phillies Phinal in Game 1.
ScarletKnight41 Sep 13 2006 07:31 PM |
No chance to clinch tonight due to the Phuckin Phillies.
SteveJRogers Sep 13 2006 07:35 PM |
If Mets win, Braves win the night cap and tomorow, the Mets could clinch without playing tomorow! I would not like that though. I much prefer watching a celebration rather than knowing that the players are doing it in the privacy of wherever they shall be watching the Phillies-Braves game tomorrow
ScarletKnight41 Sep 13 2006 07:44 PM |
Whoa - Milledge just made a NICE diving catch!
ScarletKnight41 Sep 13 2006 07:47 PM |
Pedro is in the dugout, wearing Delgado's jersey and making muscles like he's a strong guy.
metirish Sep 13 2006 07:54 PM |
Great play by Reyes to get Uggla at first.
ScarletKnight41 Sep 13 2006 07:56 PM |
Shit - 1-0 Fish on Willingham's double with an error to Reyes.
ScarletKnight41 Sep 13 2006 07:57 PM |
2-0 on Helms' sac fly :(
Edgy DC Sep 13 2006 07:58 PM |
"Triples" to left are signs of poor play. Reyes got the error, but that ball came out of the corner way slow.
Willets Point Sep 13 2006 08:02 PM |
I don't know how many times this season I've gotten home, tuned into the game, said "hey Glavine's pitching," and then watch him get lit up like a firecracker. I must be bad karma for him.
Valadius Sep 13 2006 08:04 PM |
I wouldn't necessarily call giving up two runs getting lit up like a firecracker. That's more Dave Williams territory.
Willets Point Sep 13 2006 08:14 PM |
He usually settles down after I bitch about him. That's the other half of the karma.
Edgy DC Sep 13 2006 08:17 PM |
Hanley, you've run a long way just to go back to the bench.
ScarletKnight41 Sep 13 2006 08:17 PM |
Yes! Hanley Ramirez gets greedy trying to stretch a double into a triple, and Beltran's throw nails him at third for the third out of the inning!
metirish Sep 13 2006 08:17 PM |
Holy crap that was some throw from Beltran to get Ramirez at thrid.
Willets Point Sep 13 2006 08:17 PM |
Shhhhhhiiiiiiii....SWEET!
metirish Sep 13 2006 08:23 PM |
The very lame poll question tonight is...."who is your fave Mets position player,Wright,Beltran,Delgado or Reyes"....Gary claims he's fasinated to find out the winner......mmmmmmmm

Woo-Hoo! LoDuca's 2-RBI double ties the game!

The Old Man with the RBI hit, so we can hold off on putting him in that crooked home we saw on 60 Minutes.

Manny Acta doesn't look very smart now.
ScarletKnight41 Sep 13 2006 08:42 PM |

Glavine up to 101 pitches- does he start the 7th? I'm dopey.

The Mets giveth, Glavine taketh away...
MFS62 Sep 13 2006 08:55 PM |
I really don't want the Mets to have to face these guys in the playoffs.

I look at it as: the Mets taketh, Glavine giveth away. Is your beer half full or half empty?
Johnny Dickshot Sep 13 2006 09:02 PM |
Well, I have to say I like that they're bringing Olson back with 101 pitches on the odometer and the top of the order coming up.
Zvon Sep 13 2006 09:05 PM |
I think your on to something there. Reyes with a lead off single in the 8th.

Welcome, #1sports Fan.

ScarletKnight41 Sep 13 2006 09:21 PM |
Willingham just misses a 3-run homer. It's a game of inches.
seawolf17 Sep 13 2006 09:22 PM |
That's one, Guillermo. Get me one more.
seawolf17 Sep 13 2006 09:23 PM |
And as the infield meets at the mound, I'm hoping for a hidden-ball trick.
ScarletKnight41 Sep 13 2006 09:24 PM |
Whew - Reyes catches the popup to end the inning.
seawolf17 Sep 13 2006 09:24 PM |
Popped up to Reyes! (Who almost takes out the second base umpire, who needed to just get the hell out of the way.) Nice job, Mota!

Meriwether seems to have caught what O'Nora had last night. Where's the zone?
Edgy DC Sep 13 2006 09:46 PM |
Switching the outfielders, cool. It's Davey Johnson time.
seawolf17 Sep 13 2006 09:48 PM |
You know? I guess I see where Willie's coming from. They really don't need to win tonight. You'd like to take two out of three, but you'd also like to see Ledee get a fucking hit once in a while.
Edgy DC Sep 13 2006 09:51 PM |
I think his thinking was that... oh, it's too complicated to explain. It involves quarks and wormholes and theoretical shit like that.
metirish Sep 13 2006 09:52 PM |
I'll give Stephen Hawking a call to see what his theory is.

Edgy DC Sep 13 2006 09:58 PM |
Matt Herges throws one strange intentional walk.

TransMonk Sep 13 2006 10:04 PM |

The Mets don't need a win until September 29th. But I'd like to get some before then. Once they clinch, Willie can do whatever he wants. But taking care of the Marlins tonight eliminates them from the division and puts us that much closer to clinching. If it were Endy or Michael Tucker I would understand, but Ledee's not coming to the postseason with us. His role on the team is to enter the games when we're down by 6 or more runs early so that the starters are rested for the playoffs.
Edgy DC Sep 13 2006 10:05 PM |
One hit --- an infield single --- off the Mets bullpen tonight.
ScarletKnight41 Sep 13 2006 10:06 PM |
Heilman is getting some beer tonight.
TransMonk Sep 13 2006 10:07 PM |
The bullpen is my favorite part of the team lately. They have been excellent.
TheOldMole Sep 13 2006 10:12 PM |
Green gets on, do you pinch hit for Ledee?
Zvon Sep 13 2006 10:12 PM |
Valintin with a one out double in the 11th.
Zvon Sep 13 2006 10:14 PM |

Ouch! Green takes one for the team. Gotta get Ledee some at bats.

Edgy DC Sep 13 2006 10:16 PM |

I referred to that piece as "Dance Of The Valkyries" once, and my wife, the then-musicology PhD student, thought it was hysterical. We've called it that ever since.

Valadius Sep 13 2006 10:40 PM |
I want the clinching game to have meaning.
Zvon Sep 13 2006 10:52 PM |
What kind of meaning? Wouldnt the clinching part provide enough meaning? Id settle for a clinching game. It wouldnt suck if the Mets clinched by default on an offday, but it wouldnt be as satisfying as seein them do it.
Yancy Street Gang Sep 13 2006 10:53 PM |
Doesn't matter anyway. Whatever our preferences, there will be no clincher until Friday at the earliest.
Gwreck Sep 13 2006 11:33 PM |
Fun game, but I'd personally like to know where Jerry Manuel was, when he very badly needed to smack Willie upside the head and remind him that Tucker, Green and Endy Chavez -- who was brought into the game regardless! -- should be used as pinch hitters before Ricky Ledee.
Edgy DC Sep 13 2006 11:51 PM |
Endy Chavez was brought into the game regardless, but, had he pinch hit, it would have left the pitchers spot in the six hole (rather than the eighth slot), likely depriving Willy of getting a potential second innng out of Heilman.
Edgy DC Sep 13 2006 11:54 PM |
The Fish had four righties coming up. Thus, Bell.
MFS62 Sep 14 2006 01:51 PM |
Does giving up four runs in six innings, but only three of them earned, qualify as a "quality start"?
Yancy Street Gang Sep 14 2006 01:58 PM |
Yes.
