After Bay sacrifices himself, Maine with an errant pickoff to first.

Delgado really should have handled that throw, and it goes for a two base error. Dont know yet who got the error.
Nady continues to work for his ring as he quells the rally.

But the Bucs are up 2-0.

Valadius
Sep 17 2006 01:59 PM

Okay now, X. You want that ring, don't you X? Goooooood X.

Valadius

Zvon
Sep 17 2006 03:31 PM

Chavez almost gets his 4th hit of the day--but no go.
Strands two as Sanchez nabs his grounder for the force.

TransMonk
Sep 17 2006 03:33 PM

Duke should be done for the day at least. Two innings against the Bucs' bullpen.

Valadius
Sep 17 2006 03:52 PM

Now hopefully Dumbo doesn't screw this up.

Edgy DC
Sep 17 2006 03:52 PM

Wright tagging a lefty.

Improtant step to righting this show. I'll take it.

Valadius
Sep 17 2006 03:54 PM

And Dumbo fucked it up.

Valadius
Sep 17 2006 04:00 PM

At this point, I wouldn't be averse to the thought of Willie running out there to pinch-hit if it meant that we'd score some damn runs.

Zvon
Sep 17 2006 04:00 PM

Well, we all know, for us Met fans,......

"Nothing Is Easy"

Nothing is easy.
Though time gets you worrying
my friend, it's o.k.
Just take your life easy
and stop all that hurrying,
be happy my way.

When tension starts mounting
and you've lost count
of the pennies you've missed,
just try hard and see why they're not worrying me,
they're last on my list.
Nothing's easy.

Nothing is easy, you'll find
that the squeeze won't turn out so bad.
Your fingers may freeze, worse things happen at sea,
there's good times to be had.
So if you're alone and you're down to the bone,
just give us a play.
You'll smile in a while and discover
that I'll get you happy my way --
nothing's easy.

Sep 17 2006 08:05 PM

Just back from PNC and I have to say, it sucked. They played like shit. I admit, since buying the tix a few weeks ago, we were hoping this would be clinch day. The losses the past two nights, coupled with Philly's wins, put smiles on our faces. A bit selfish, but this could've been a special day.

There were 34,000 announced and prolly 15-20 percent Mets fans. A lot of NY and NJ plates in the parking garage across the river. It was my first time to the park and like everyone says, it's gorgeous. Only two slight negatives...the main concourse is a bit narrow and the jumbotron was too small. The Primanti Brothers sandwich stand was awesome.

Mrs. Ted/Sponge noticed that half the people rooting for Pittsbugh were grossly overweight, the other half looked like they lived in double-wides. The PGH fans in our section were complimentary toward the Mets and were well behaved. The Mets fans, of course, were beautiful.

I hope the Mets brass spent the weekend at PNC looking around.

They've definitely looked around PNC in the past, and have used it as something of a model for the new stadium. Rightfully so - it's my favorite park.

cleonjones11
Sep 17 2006 10:48 PM

Our family rates heavy Pennsylvania people by Hershey kisses. Very obese is 5 kisses for example. Actually the entire USA is at about 3 1/2 kisses.

For the love of God please let our new stadium have something to eat other than cold Nathans hot dogs and sub-par Premio sausage...

Hey Ted, Wifey wants to know if you brought Little Sponge-ette along.

cleonjones11
Sep 17 2006 10:52 PM

Shawn Green needs his steroids back.

Keith Hernandez trashed him yesterday. "He has zero bat speed" Funnier yet in the 6th inning Hernandez asked when the car service was coming but mentioned unlike when he played ... Pittsburgh had real restaurants he could go to. I laughed my ass off...

Gwreck
Sep 18 2006 01:11 AM

The guy from SNY was putting in Keith's order at Primanti's when we were getting our sandwiches there this afternoon.

This game sucked.

Result aside, using Ledee (when Green and Floyd are on the bench) is giving up.

Edgy DC
Sep 18 2006 09:03 AM

I assume Floyd was being held to pinch-hit for Chavez if Reyes got on and they needed a three-run crown. But, yeah, Willie always seems under-aggressive when it comes to ninth-inning catch-up substituting.

Farmer Ted
Sep 18 2006 09:29 AM

Yeah, we took Baby Ted. She's almost a year old so this was a big measuring stick for us. We bought three seats knowing we'd need the extra space...that was a good call. She was grumpy for the first inning so I put her in the Bjorn and walked along the concourse so she could sleep and I could still watch the game. I spent the first four innings on my feet but it was cool. After that, she sat in her seat, ate snacks and played with her Pirate Parrot doll (it was giveaway day). We started leaving after the Mets 8th and watched the final six outs on the exting concourse. It was a good day but I could see how brutal it could have been if she was younger. Weather was great. We'll send the Dickshots some snapshots.

ScarletKnight41
Sep 18 2006 09:50 AM

Younger is easier. Once they can move around on their own is when things become trickier.

I'm glad you had a good time at the game with your daughter. I hope that you took lots of pictures :)
