I'm pleased to hear it. And I hope he doesn't pitch with regard to his defense at all. I have as much confidence in Franco at third as, say, Tucker at first.

The sig line is just a change up, I guess. The inspiration was a conversation that Mrs. Fields and I had about something where she said at least they don't needlessly escalate the argument or something like that which I replied, "yeah, I hate when peeople do that" and we had some giggles over it on Sunday.

When Impulse2 was little, we went to a game with friends. I lied to the friend's little girl and told her that the scoreboard was wishing her a happy birthday - she was 3 and couldn't read, and the white lie made her happy. So we were back in September. Of course, the scoreboard "said" Happy Birthday Impulse2. But it didn't end there. At one point, they announced that it was Bob Murphy's birthday, and they asked everyone to sing Happy Birthday to Bob. Except that everyone in our group that night sang Impuse2 instead of Bob, so she perceived that the 25,000 or so in attendance that night were singing to her. It was a fun moment.

When Lastings Milledge got his first Major League hit in his first game, MK's first reaction, without missing a beat, was, "That was a lot quicker than Anderson Hernandez got his." I'd have had the under.

Hating on a guy the day after Thank You Day. Wow. Anderson Hernandez had seven total bases in his first 71 at-bats. He had five in three at-bats today. HIs first career homer. His first RBI. His first two-hit game. His first extra-base freakin' hit. Only his second fuckinfreakin' walk. Did he take a pill or something?

They were welcomed by name and shown on the Diamondvision between the 3rd (?) and 4th innings. They then cut to some nice images of Bob and some of his famous calls ('73 clincher, '86 WS victory, etc.) Nice tribute.

Glavine's job last night was to tune up for the NLDS. Not to pad his career win total. If he lost and was angry about it, he would have been wise to keep it to himself. I'm sure few Mets fans would have sided with him if he had exhibited such selfishness.
