Little slow finding a lineup today on the internet.

I just heard on the radio that the senior Senor Franco will start at third base.
|
Edgy DC Sep 19 2006 06:39 PM |
I'm pleased to hear it. And I hope he doesn't pitch with regard to his defense at all.

The sig line is just a change up, I guess. The inspiration was a conversation

If the Mets win, Florida should stop playing this season.
|

Gotta love Endy Chavez's speed. He legs out a bunt single to give the Mets runners on first and second, none out.

Gary - "you'd be fined for posting this lineup for a spring training game"

A double play by Milledge and ground out ensue. Scoreless after one inning.

That reminds me of a Shea memory. When Impulse2 was little, we went to a game with friends. I lied to the friend's little girl and told her that the scoreboard was wishing her a happy birthday - she was 3 and couldn't read, and the white lie made her happy. So we were back in September. Of course, the scoreboard "said" Happy Birthday Impulse2. But it didn't end there. At one point, they announced that it was Bob Murphy's birthday, and they asked everyone to sing Happy Birthday to Bob. Except that everyone in our group that night sang Impuse2 instead of Bob, so she perceived that the 25,000 or so in attendance that night were singing to her. It was a fun moment.

Ok, who among you had the under on "Anderson Hernandez - 1 career RBI"?
|
ScarletKnight41 Sep 19 2006 09:07 PM |
When Lastings Milledge got his first Major League hit in his first game, MK's first reaction, without missing a beat, was, "That was a lot quicker than Anderson Hernandez got his."
|
Valadius Sep 19 2006 09:12 PM |
Haha, how often do you see Jose Reyes pinch-hitting?

Ricky Ledee is a waste of a roster space. Even with an expanded roster.

You won't want to miss tomorrow's game. Rumor is Omar is going to bus in the Binghamton Mets to take on the Marlins.
|
metirish Sep 19 2006 09:47 PM |
So does Tucker make the post-season roster?, he's a good bat of the bench.
|
ScarletKnight41 Sep 19 2006 09:54 PM |
Tucker is better than Ledee, for sure.

Indeed. They were welcomed by name and shown on the Diamondvision between the 3rd (?) and 4th innings. They then cut to some nice images of Bob and some of his famous calls ('73 clincher, '86 WS victory, etc.) Nice tribute.
|
Willets Point Sep 20 2006 08:10 AM |
Should have started this lineup against the Pirates.
|
RealityChuck Sep 20 2006 08:44 AM |
My favorite tidbit: The last time Julio Franco started at third base, the guy playing to shortstop next to him hadn't even been born.
|
MFS62 Sep 20 2006 09:40 AM |
If Glavine had lost the game 2-0 or 2-1, he could have strangled the life out of Willie and a jury of Mets fans would have found him not guilty on grounds of Justifiable Homicide.
|
Edgy DC Sep 20 2006 10:44 AM |
I imagine Glavine was perfectly content with the lineup out there, as were the fans.
|
Yancy Street Gang Sep 20 2006 10:50 AM |
Glavine's job last night was to tune up for the NLDS. Not to pad his career win total. If he lost and was angry about it, he would have been wise to keep it to himself. I'm sure few Mets fans would have sided with him if he had exhibited such selfishness.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 20 2006 10:52 AM |
Main two things I wanted to see from last night were good games from Glavine (regardless of W/L) and Milledge.
