Yancy mentioned this in the Apple thread.

If someone were to put together a Mets "coffee table" book, what do you think it should have in it?

Stearns probably had a mean western coffee table. I picture him with the laquered cross section of an oak tree.

Keith Hernanez probably has something slick, cosmopolitan, and black, at least 15 feet long.

Wally Backman probably has rings all over his. That should definitely be in the book.

LOL!
That's why I put "coffee table" in quotes.
C'mon, you know what I meant - the kind of large book (usually photograph laden) that someone leaves out on their coffee table for show.

Well it should at least have legs on it. So if you don't have a coffee table it could be a coffee table.

Genius I know.

Besides all the photos of the fan favorites, Met greats, World championship teams, etc., I'd like to see sections on:

- Met yearbook covers
- all Met Sports Illustrated covers
- Photos of the construction of Shea

Any Mets coffee table book should have a story in it describing how
Scarlett Knight and I are married - oh wait, that's been done already.

Exactly.

There have been enough books with photos like this one:

I'd rather see more offbeat pictures, like this one:

and this one:

Photos of the Polo Grounds from 1962 and 1963 and of Shea Stadium through its history would also be great.

Mets and Pets is a great theme for a CTB right there:

There can never be enough books with such pictures. There just needs to be more recent versions to add to the collection. Hopefully, there will be a new addition this fall.

I don't think Jesse O would be eligible for the postseason roster.
